I was going through some forums today and found something interesting... The following is translated from Club Nintendo magazine:
Nintendo enters the world of film
A couple of months ago we commented that Nintendo had decided to cancel the project of the Metroid movie, and there were no apparent motives for the company to take this decision. Well, the big N just announced it's incorporation into the cinematographic industry; that's right, agter the great experience it has had with Pokémon, they've decided to create their own films, which will obviously be based on their most popular video games, like Zelda or Mario, but also mentions they'll create new stories to take advantage of the creation of new video games.
Now the cancellation of the Metroid movie makes sense, no? They wanted to produce it. According to comments, it won't be until the end of the next year when the first film entirely produced by Nintendo debuts.
Now, hopefully the fact that a Nintendo movie studio type thing recently came to be isn't new news to you.
...
Mario and Zelda were specifically mentioned. That makes...what? Three Mario movies now? Super Mario Bros., Super Mario: The Great Adventure for Princess Peach (or something like that, it was anime film that never came here), and now this one that may come to be. I did like the Super Mario Bros., movie actually. I hope the movie won't completely like the games. Hearing those accents for an hour and half would drive me insane. @@
Zelda...
...
I have no idea if I should be glad or not. Yay for the fact that Nintendo will be in charge of the movie so that it doesn't get messed up and I don't have to worry about TSA (don't know who that is? Don't ask) making the movie. Down side? I really, really want to make this. Like a lot. So, I don't know how to feel now.
