Perhaps the subject of the thread didn't really appeal to anyone?

And I don't think it can be altered in the usercp, I believe that's posts per page, not threads per page.
Anyway, I don't think the number of them visible at a time should be altered.

I just checked, you can alter the post per page, but not the threads per page
