what character names do you like better in general? the dubbed, or the japanese? i usually prefer the japanese names.
is this confusing?um, here's an example:

satoshi vs. ash

shuu vs. drew

haruka vs. may

kenta vs. yoshi
ect.

paul is a dead man, miss him miss him miss him...
I voted for the Japanese names all the way... Much better than the dub. But I still find myself using the dub names most of the time... mainly cause people in real life haven't a clue what the HFIL I'm on about when I speak of "Satoshi" and the "Rocket-dan"

I voted for equal. I mostly use the dub names when referring to them,
though. I only learned the majority of the originals a little while ago,
so they still feel somewhat foreign to me. But, I do like them.
As for "Paul is a dead man, miss him, miss him, miss him," I think it's
safe to assume that you enjoy listening to music backwards and hunting
for messages.

Japanese all the way. They're the original names and a ton of the Americanized dub names sound really stupid considering how much Japanese culture is in the anime.

Mwar, I agree. Dubbing the names just kills them…

The point of this poll is stupid. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

I voted for liking them equally. I grew up only knowing the dub names, but I also think the Japanese names are cool too. I also dislike some of the cheesy names 4kids comes up with... i.e. Tracey Sketchit and Ash's last name, Ketchum (gotta CATCH 'EM (catchem, ketchum) all) o_0; those are kinda.... cheesy, like I said... But anyways, I like some of the dub names and some of the Japanese names.

"kenta vs. yoshi"

I think you know which one I prefer. ;)

I like both. Ash I prefer because it was "Ash" I grew up with. Shuu and Drew, I dont like either of them. Haruka is better than may and Misty is better than Kasumi mainly because I was watching Misty's hosos and Kasumi sounds remarkably like Cassidy and I was like "Cassidy? Where! I dont see her!" XD
I prefer Takeshi over Brock, Clair over Ibuki, Mikuri over Wallace, Sabrina over Natsume, Liza over Jiiku (shudders, I prefer Karin) Suzie over Yuki, and I just love the name Mizuho and dread 4Kids future dub name for her. It could be Crystal or Wendy or Wanda. And if it's Wendy, I'll be mad because I own a water character named Wendy.

It doesn't matter to me,as long as I can understand who you are talking about.

Dub names all the time, except for the Raikou Special cast of course.
Kenta, Marina, Juni'chi, Bashou, Buson... I like 'em. I use 'em. And the dub names for 'em TOTALLY SUCK, IMO.

By that logic, I suppose we'd have to rename everyone who speaks a different language with an American name because you don't speak it.

Just because you don't speak the language doesn't mean you don't have to call them by their actual name, at least.

I voted equally.
First names I heard were the dub ones but then I heard the original ones and liked them all the same. Some times I reffer to them with their original names and some times I reffer to them with the dub names. So it's no big deal for me.

*shrugs* I don't give a crap, doesn't make a difference to me.

I sort of like Satoshi more than Ash. I guess. But the rest I don't really care about.

But I've always wondered, why are so many people complaining about Drew? It's not THAT much different than Shuu...

Because Drew/Shuu is an ***hole. This is just my opinion.
