i don't know if u all have seen these yet (view at ur own risk) but US editions of the manga were edited. =D what do u think toshiro ono's feelings are when his manga is edited (or censored)?

I once saw a whole web page with all of these actually, there's ones that are a lot worse to the point they were removed not edited.

Yeah, I think some of the editing I agree with, but they're going way too far in some instances. I mean covering all the artwork up with black is insulting the creator of the manga, but it does need some editing because I don't think that the target age for Pokemon should be seeing this.

Oh my holy stars. x_x; Even if I wasn't at the target age of Pokemon fans, I don't want to see that. It's just nasty... I'm glad they edited those out.

o.o; Well, for this, I have to compliment on Viz's editing skills. =P But I think that well, look at the manga, they could have just put a big 18+ or, they should have never tried editing it. =_=

ROFL. Yeah, I've seen all that before...the moral: Ono-san draws pokemon wonderfully, but he's a dirty old man. xD

*L* That was funny. n.n() The similar scene in the anime was too. *cough* But anyway... I think since it was a Pokemon manga, they didn't leave all those things in. Most parents consider Pokemon to be safe for their kids, so... *shrugs* I dunno. n.n()

The worst bit was the editting of Misty's swimsuit... they turned it into something all black... I mean don't you see all these women on TV with the big br**sts? And how they have so lil clothes on? Not complaining or anything... but That's what my sister was kinda studying for a sec.

I agree with Atsuji.
Sometimes shows over 10pm at night here are just not meant for children.
Misty in that swimsuit looks bad enough to give my brother those [dirty] thoughts.

I honestly have no problem with the artowrk honestly. :/ I'm used to the female anatomy, so it's not like it's gonna bother me. Plus Mr. Ono's like one of my idols. XD;;
I don't get why people make a big deal out of it. That's just me though..... Like my opinion matters.... XP

First of all, do keep in mind that the Japan has a much more mature look on these types of material... they're not as "touché" to the topic as NA is. Most of them do need editing but some are fine to me... (Hmm I've seen that page somewhere before).

Kairi

Most of these were just edited, but I think this was totally removed.

*dirty thoughts*

EWWWWWWW! Why would a female do that?

Frostweaver
January 13th, 2004, 04:44 AM
according to kanji which is the only part of japanese that I know since they're exactly identical to chinese, i did have a rough idea on why she wanted to do that... It's just something all dominantly male people (DHG) wanted females to... "have". And who knows what... but some people always wanted to meet those "requirements" and here's one example...

(hope that you won't mind me stealing your vocabulary Kairi =p)

That is indeed sick. I'm sorry, but I don't see how this belongs in a kid's comic book. These Japanese artists have too much time on their hands, me thinks. Hey, where is the index page for the Pokemon section on this site? http://ethereal3k.netfirms.com/

The thing that dusturbs me is how Misty is FREAKIN 12 YEARS OLD and Ono has the hots for her and draws her with biggish boobs. But yeah, I have boobs, so regular nudity doesn't bother me. It's the fact that Misty's a kid. And Arcanine, that was kind of duragatory to Japanese folk, many of them are very hardworking and actually DON'T have a lot of time on their hands. I think that drawing nudity is sort of like a pleasure thing, releasing some stress. Like Frosty said, Japan has different views on nudity and other "mature" subjects. Still, Misty is a kid *shakes head*.

I should mention that Ono draws Oak to be rather hunky.

The other day I went to a manga store in japan and all I saw were these ones with nudity. I saw a good looking at a manga book and all it practically had were like woman in bikini and stuff. And he was even younger than me!

anyways...in lotsa of japanese drama the guys are always looking at magazines with ero in it. :paranoid: but i think so do a majority of males in many countries (cept for the muslims?)

One word to your post: erk X_X (About that ero part)
The only manga here I have read which looks disgusting at some parts is that Magister Negi something. The person who drew it also drew Love Hina X_X
I always prefer Pokemon Adventures over it. =D

Hey, at least Ono isn't just drawing girls all hot, he's doing it for guys too, so you can't say he's demeaning to just females. I kinda agree that if Misty is a kid, she shouldn't be drawn like that, but maybe she is like older in the manga. Anyway, it's only the human anatomy and at least the characters aren't doing anything offensive with their revealing clothes on. Imagine Oak and Misty getting it on... I think I'm going to be sick... *runs away*

What are more sites that compare to the versions of manga? I just want to see more of the differences. Thanks.

that hot spring part i have too =-= err...there were three guys (two younger boys and one brock) in that scene and misty just ran away nekkid. and i just remembered, PIKACHU was there too.

there is also another one with ditto and misty where ditto transforms into ash and jokes around with misty and the real ash gets beat up i thought that was funny. was that ever featured in the US version?

It dosent have to be. have you read the Yu-Gi-Oh manga? The tv show is aimed to kids but the manga is aimed to teens and adults. The Yu-Gi-Oh manga has blood, violence, sex, and drugs and the didnt edit any of it out when it was translated.

plus, I had hormones scince I was 7.

Man...let me explain it better....the ygo manga is diffrent since it's bought by VIZ the manga is aimed at teens in japan and america the anime is aimed at teens in japan but at kids in america......Now the pokemon manga is aimed at kids in america....get it?

Purin

Yugioh seems to be aiming at older kids and teens IMO. It's rather violent, cult-like (You see so many monsters and magicians and the artwork is not usually of the cute type.)
Anyway, we're going out of topic here, maybe you could bring the discussion over to another place?
