Satoshi now has his badges in Japan.
How do you think he will do in the League?
Do you think he will make a friend and then be beat by them like in Kanto and Johto?
I think he will do very well and maybe win. However I am not positive on anything. I mean we never know what is really going to happen.
I think he may not be beat by a friend again only for one reason. Hoenn has been different than the other regions. The only thing that comes to mind to back this up is the fact that he did not get all the starters like he did in Johto and Kanto.
Let's discuss.

I hope that Richie, Harrison can come over in the league. And perhaps some other long friends.. Since i dun think Ash will be still around in the diamond and pearl saga...

How will he do in the league?
Let's find out. With a never-evolving Pikachu, a Grovyle, a Swellow, a not-evolved-yet Corphish, and a newly-caught Snorunt, I suppose he will do just fine...
I think that Snorunt should evolve into Glalie. That would make things a lot easier for Ash when he fights Drake.
It gets me thinking, that because Ardan is the Sootopolis gymleader just like in Emerald, should Wallace be the champion?

Mwar, Ash's Snorunt did evolve. I saw it in some other thread.
BUT… if the Hoenn league's battle lineups are anything like the Silver Conference's, as in the 6-on-6 battles, Ash'll need more Pokémon. 'Cause if he doesn't at least bring a few of his old Pokémon over, and he's shoved into 6-on-6 battles, using the same team over and over is going to be his downfall 'cause they'll get really tired, mwar.

This is a translation done from the latest ep in Japan
Transcription of the key portion of the Ash-Oak call:
Oak: Which pokemon are you going to use in the tournament? All the pokemon you've left with me are in top shape. I can send them at any time.
Ash: That won't be necessary.
Oak: Oh?
Ash: When I came to Houen, I brought only Pikachu with me, because I wanted to try a fresh start.
Oak: Oh yeah, that's right...
Ash: Then, working hard with the pokemon I caught here, we got all eight badges. I'd love to let Charizard and the others fight now, after so long, but Grovyle and the rest of my team are ready and willing to battle. So for this tournament, I want to fight with just Grovyle and the rest of my current team.
Oak: I see. That's good determination. It's true that you'd have an advantage by battling using pokemon that are rare in Houen. But you'd rather have even battles without resorting to that sort of strategy, right?
Ash: Right.
Oak: Then I won't say anything more. Just use all the power you have, and battle to the best of your ability.
Ash you can see he will only be using his Hoenn Pokemon

How do you think he will do in the League?
I think he will come runner up atleast but I am not sure, he should do pretty well with Pikachu, Grovyle, Glalie, Swellow and Corphish. Although I would like him to use his others, but I don't mind him using them six.
Do you think he will make a friend and then be beat by them like in Kanto and Johto?
Hmm, I hope that doesn't happen again, cus then it will just be repeating again, I hope he makes a friend and beats them, because of all the hardwork he put in XD.
Hmm no Ash in the Diamond/Pearl series if there is gonna be one, that ain't gonna happen, cus like it has been said. No Ash, no Show, he makes the show what it is XD.

Yes. He does not have to leave the show just because he wins the Hoenn League.
I think he will get at least top 4. I cant wait to see how he really does.
Guys add questions if you want this thread is to talk about anything to do with the Hoenn League finals

^He was the Gym Leader of Sootopolis in Ruby and Sapphire until the creators decided to change it to Adan in Emerald. He replaces Steven:

As champion in the league.

Unfortunately, I don't think Ash will be facing either Steven or Wallace, because he's NEVER fought an in-game Champion before (Drake of the Orange League doesn't count because the Orange League never existed in the games), since he always battles in the League tournament instead against random trainers. And I think the anime writers have decided to erase Mikuri-sama (Mikuri = Wallace) off the face of the animeverse. Which is just...GRRR...*pisses off*

If he wins that does not mean it needs to end after all to be a Master, don't you think you need to win all the leagues? I dont think it would mean an end. XD

If he wins that does not mean it needs to end after all to be a Master, don't you think you need to win all the leagues? I dont think it would mean an end. XD Well, it wouldn't make sense if he won one league and lost the next, and if he continued to win all the leagues from here on out, the anime would become even more predictable (and consequently more boring) than it already is.
Kiryuu
April 24th, 2005, 02:52 PM
You can win a league and then not win one.
Things are not perfect just because you reach one goal

Ash is only going to use Hoenn pokemon? YES.
Time to go and yell "HAHA, ASH AIN'T BRINGIN BACK CHARIZARD FOO!" to everyone. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
*cough, hack*
I think Ash'll to really well. Really, if he can get into the top eight while never training much, I'm sure he can probably get in the top two or something. Maybe top four. I dunno if he'll win though...
Stevo-kun
April 24th, 2005, 05:29 PM
Yeah well to truly be a master you need to master every league(which doesn't mean winning it). So if Ash does win this one, it doesn't mean he will stop being the main character. Plus May would probably accompany him if they do another series because I think that is why they made her lose her first Grand Festival for Co-Ordinators, just like Ash didn't his first.
QUESTION: Why do you think Ash has never faced Lance, even though they have met on more than one occasion?. So do you think we will see Lance again in the future?
Well they met in Johto and Hoenn as you know, but why didn't Ash ever face him, I would have liked to see that even though he might have lost, because he faces Drake from the Hoenn Elite 4 in a normal match, so why not Lance? XD. I think we might see him in the future XD.

Here's the problem with Ash winning (i.e. getting first place) in ANY of the Leagues:
If Ash wins one league and not the next, there's gonna have to be an explanation as to why, and as the writers don't like to imply that Ash wins/loses his battles by luck, then:
One explanation would be that he slacked off after winning and got overconfident, which would actually be a good plot point and good char development, but the writers would actually have to remember to write the entire story up to the next region's league with Ash training less or having a visibly weaker team or something likethat, which would be difficult, and moreover, the writers have already established that Ash can be a slacker in everything EXCEPT Pokemon training. So that wouldn't work.
And if not that, then:
Another explanation is that the trainers of the region with the League that Ash actually won are overall worse trainers than other regions' trainers (which we know is not true of Hoenn, what with Harrison), and this will disappoint/anger a lot of Hoenn fans.

^good point
Do you think anyone will make a surprising appearance?
Perhaps Gary or Misty. Or maybe both.
Kiryuu
April 25th, 2005, 02:53 AM
Its possible someone may appear.
I still say he could win and go on to more leagues.
If he is going to be a Master he needs to conquer more than one league.

Hmm. I doubt Shigeru (Gary) since the VA quit. Unless they got another one, but I heard the Japanese don't replace VA's much. *shrugs*
As for Misty... I don't even want to go there. <.<

April 25th, 2005, 04:45 PM

I think he will be beaten with a guy with senasels evoulved form that would be cool! (and also very predictable)

I once wrote a fanfic where Misty returns in the middle of Ash's final battle and gives him the confidence he needs to win, but in all seriousness, I don't think it'll happen. Since there's still the Diamond and Pearl generation after this, I doubt Ash will win, but I do suspect he'll make the Top 4. And I highly suspect that Grovyle will evolve at some point during the tournament - they still haven't shown Sceptile in the anime or in any movies, and I assume it's because they were saving it for Ash. Not only that, but they haven't shown a Metang yet, so if Ash is pitted in a battle with Masamune's Beldum, both their Pokémon could evolve and polish off the list of Hoenn Pokémon in one fell swoop. Even if Ash doesn't win in the end, that'd be an awesome battle.

Remember that in the Hoenn League, 2 of his friends enter, not just one XD. But he is definately going to be battling Masamune

May 6th, 2005, 10:47 AM
How do you think he will do in the League?
I think he will do better. I mean he does better each time so unless the trainers here are much stornger then Harrison then Ash will do great.
Do you think he will make a friend and then be beat by them like in Kanto and Johto?
Well Ash has aready made a friend (The guy with the metagross and meoth in boots). When he does make a friend then he gets beat. (Richie and Harrison). What I hope is that he will beat this friend.

One things for sure should Ash make it to the final match that decides who's the Hoenn League Champion im confident that Misty will make a surprise appearance and give Ash all the support he needs
Then again if he ends up winning the Hoenn League Competition it'll be the same story Misty makes a surprise appperance however she'll more likely give Ash a hug or kiss because he won the competition.... i seen something similar happen in a movie i was watching on the Disney Channel Saturday as there was an all day cartoon marathon to celebrate the movie's premiere on Saturday night, of course i didnt get to watch the last half of it so i watched the re-run on Sunday
