I do not believe on ghosts but the very thought creeps me out.
However it is still interesting for some reason XD

I find it hard to believe any evidence from photos because people can do anything in photoshop these days. If I'm completely honest then I don't believe in ghosts because I don't believe in any kind of afterlife. But apparently my little brother and my cousin both saw a ghost in the same day, about 10 years ago. So I don't really know what to think about them.

After talking to two young guests that night and joking about a gun they were carrying protecting them from the Brown Lady, while walking back to their rooms along a corridor. They suddenly came face to face with a ghostly female figure advancing towards them, carrying a lamp. Captain Marryat recognised the woman as the woman in the portrait hung in his room. The three men noted that the woman was wearing a brown brocade dress. She passed by the three men and looks straight at them "in such a diabolical manner" that they became extremely frightened. Captain Marryat then pulled the trigger of the gun firing at the brown lady. The Bullet went straight through the ghostly figure and was later found in a door behind where she had been seen.

I belive in ghosts, I always have done, I do alot of research on them, and have my own evidence, im just saying, but some of those images may be unsuitable for younger people at PC, perhaps this should go in the T-dome?

I think theres ghosts. I mean that there could be explinations out there for situations but I do think that there could possibly be ghosts. Now I haven't seen one but I've been to the point where the there was a loud knock on the front door and there was no one there and the refridgerator door was opened in the morning. Now those could possibly be explained but then again my family was asleep when the door was open and my family was in the living room at the time of the knock on the door. So I don't know.

she told me that about 17 years ago,her and her freind were out driving,and they went under this bridge.now 5 years before that a football player was hit by a drunk driver and killed there.so when they went under the bridge,they saw a strange fog that was bright,and looked red and white(my schools colors[they have never changed]) then they passed it.as soon as they did my mom looked back and saw that it was a ghost

now that is what she told me and i believe it.

I agree that those pics are way creepy. And even though I know how they're made, I still can't help getting creeped out. Anyway, I'm willing to bet that none of those photos have been photoshopped. Why? Well, because they didn't need to be. Older cameras required a lot of time to develop a single picture. And if you wanted to superimpose a ghostly image onto the film, all you had to do was open the shutter and let it alone for a little while - just long enough to get the base for the background onto the film - and then cover the lens with something (a hand or a piece of paper will do). Then, just have someone stand in the middle of the area you're taking a picture of. Lighter clothing will make the effect much more dramatic, because it'll show up more. Anyway, uncover the lens again, and then, after a few seconds (maybe more, depending on the make of the camera and the type of film) cover the lens again. Have the person leave the area, and then uncover the lens again. Allow the camera to finish collecting the image, and then close the shutter. When you develop the film, you will have a ghostly image of whomever you had standing there on your picture. You can do that with an old camera really easy, and it can be done just as easily with new cameras that allow for timed exposures. I do photography for a hobby, so I've learned a lot about those neat little tricks. In fact, in one of my photography classes in college, I did ghost pictures for my final project. :) Since a lot of the better images people captured ended up on the walls of the hall outside the classroom, my images got a lot of attention from the other students, lol. Some of the bolder ones wanted to know where they could find the "haunted house" I'd taken my pictures in. :P

But despite all my knowledge of this, that doesn't mean I can completely count ghosts out. I think they might exist, but I certainly don't want to meet any. And I really don't want to think about becoming one! *Shivers again*

I kinda do. When my best friend died, he slept in the same room as me that same year. So I got scared and ran upstairs. Now I live there. v_v

I think I do.. there was this one time, a couple years ago, when my mom was working on the yard outside. I was still asleep and my sister had just woken up and hadn't yet come out of her room. Even though my mom had gone out the front door and left it unlocked, and nobody else was around to lock it, SOMEHOW the door locked while she was outside. it was so weird, and nobody knows how it happened to this day.

that and when my cat died recently both my mom and I felt her presence in the house for a couple days after she died. previous to that I didn't believe in ghosts at all, but now I really think I might.. o_o there are a lot of uenxplained things in the world, you know?

Good thing I saw this topic.
You see I go to a high school that's over a hundred years old and it's designed like a castle which could mean a lot. Maybe it used to be a castle. I dont know. But around the fall, when I first started my freshman year, the crowds were in the halls so I decided to take a shortcut through an isolated part of the school where not too many kids went. So I was approaching the really old twisty staircase in the area when I heard it right behind me, a sure sound like someone was following me. It was like a few strong footsteps and it sounded like someone with a backback. So I turned around but I didn't see anyone. So I checked the secret area all over the place, there wasn't a person in sight.
I have many more ghost stories like how a lady was murdered right by my backyard and how my backyard is always mysterious and dark. Or how I found a ghostly Pokemon card during a spooky ghostly night. The world is full of unsolved mysteries. But my mom's a skeptic so it's tough keeping my beliefs around the house.

I believe in them. And they exist too. I have never seen one, but... they spirits of persons who died in a way they didn't want, or in a more terrible way. Ghost is like a word we use when we see a spirit of a dead person, possibly trying to stay longer in this world, or possibly they appear where they were killed, or died. They possibly want someone to tell them the true about something, or... oh well, I think you understood me. They also frustrate their killers... if they were killed of course.

OMG, that book was sooooo freakin' popular after his Da Vinci Code hit it big! I remember when I was still working in Books-A-Million, we sold 'em so fast we couldn't keep enough in stock to meet demand. And the Da Vinci Code stayed on the top of the charts forever too! I haven't read either, but I've heard a lot about them from very enthusiastic customers, lol.

Really, I can't say if ghosts exist or not, simply because I choose not to disbelieve in something just because I haven't seen it. But at the same time, I have a hard time believing that a "soul" could get lost. If you add religion to the equation (I hope this doesn't start a religious debate x_x) it's like saying that whoever's in charge of the souls (God in Christianity and Judaism, Enma-sama in Shinto, etc...) makes mistakes with them. :P So I tend to think that you can believe in one, but not the other. And I choose not to say which I believe in more strongly, for fear of being flamed, lol.

J/K. It would depend, really. On the one hand, what one person believes to be a ghost could actually be nothing more than imagination, schizophrenia, or just plain mistaken identity. And to get rid of any of the three would be a difficult thing to do. I don't want to pretend to know how to answer that one.

As far as REAL ghosts are concerned, well, you could always try to have them exorcised by a priest, but I'm not sure if it would work or not. Y'see, priests are supposed to perform exorcisms on demons, not ghosts. So I don't know how that would work out. Anyway, it all sounds like something out of a movie for me... now which movie did they perform that Exorcism in....?

this is such a very controversial topic. i believe in ghosts and the supernatural, but i won't post stories--you'd have to PM me for that! simply because of all the skeptics and the "die hard ghost believers", i wouldn't want this thread to get out of hand, i think its a good one. i have heard stories of se'ances by my friends, and of oujia board stories as well, but it's so hard to seperate the bs from reality, i choose not to believe it unless it is personal experience...

I most definately believe in ghosts. ^^; I mean, there are some people who die in a pit of rage, or even died without finishing some lifelong task that absolutely had to be done...so what happens to their soul? It stays within an unknown realm that is neither part of or seperated from this world and the heavens.

I believe that those souls are wandering the earth, only hoping to complete their tasks or have someone else help them so their souls can once and for all be put to rest. ^^

shadow people??? what is everyone talking about?! ghosts are ghosts, there are different names for them, but they are all ghosts! yeah sure, the word spirit sounds less malevolent than ghost or phantom, but they are the same thing. people on the other side, or the spiritual plane are ghosts, and they are the same. it's just that they present themselves differently, maybe for different purposes. a shadowy figure could be their aura (since they are dead, their aura doesn't emit the "life color") and they may be spheres because it is a condensced form of energy that is practical for movement. but anyways, i'm not here to flame, so i'm just going to go to bed before i go crazy from everyone saying ill-informed "facts". sorry if i sound mean, i had a rough day. (7 hours at a fast food resturant working minimum wage and wasting my day...fun...(sarcastic))

Ghosts are real, Ive seen one in my house. (I have no idea whos ghost it was). Also, at my grandma's house one time we saw my Great Grandpa's ghost a few weeks after he died. Scary.

Recently a friend of mine showed me a picture she took while at a graveyard in Salem. She's convinced that there are two ghosts in that picture. I looked at it and I don't believe it. If anything, there's only one in there, not two. And that one doesn't look like anything to begin with. Just some slight blurriness that is then emphasised because of the tree branches in the background going in the same direction as the blur.
