I was reading all about the d/p online and all that, and began thinking, wouldn't they make good MMOG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Game). That means instead of having computer trainers to fight against (or a limited amount) you would have mostly other players. Think about it: it would offer more of a challenge (not the usual easy CPU's) and it would be much more realistic (people wouldn't just sit and wait till you crossed their eyesight to battle you, they would be catching or training just like you, making it seem much more realistic). And also, you could talk to other trainers instead of battling them (with or without the microphone), there would be more than just one or two trainers who defeated the gym leaders, you could trade with teh trainers you meet, trade items, and even form your own rivals! Just think how much more fun and realistic it would be. What do you guys think?

Yes I think D/P would make excellent MMORPGs, any handheld pokemon game would. Also, if they did that, I would want to be a Gym Leader! :D That would be cool in a pokemon MMORPG.

yeah, if you were good enough you could get to be a gym leader, and if you weren't on, the CPU would use your party to battle challenging trainers. Or maybe the gym leaders would be the only CPU characters (next to the e4) and everyone else were just trainers trying to get through the game.

It's a nice idea but there's one problem. The regions in the Pokemon games are relatively small, they're no where big enough to allow the amount of gamers that would be playing it. That would mean Nintendo massively expanding all the towns and routes, and losing the Pokemon feel to exploration.

It is a good idea, however as Phoenix quoted it would lose the feel of a Pokemon game because of it would be a way bigger map!

but then they could have multiple maps like only allow 100 people on each map and have alot alot of maps ... but i would find it hard to let alot of ppl play online

It wouldn't work well.

well, what they could do is have different "rooms" to enter when you log on. It is the same game and same region with the same pokemon and gym leaders, except that they only allow a certain amount of trainers in each room. It would work just like the normal games, except that you cna interact with the other trainers. And you could visit other trainers in their secret bases, hang out in there and actually talk to them (making the secret bases useful and more than just a cool idea).
