It's called "I Love My Little Sister"... (http://www.at-x.com/program_detail/index.html?pid=1855&from=new)
That's...
...y'know what? At this point, nothing from Japan surprises me anymore. O_o; Even if it SHOULD, it... somehow doesn't. This is just...disturbing really. This is like Koi Kaze to a whole other level...and that was pushing it. I know the subject isn't as big of a deal in Japan as it is in the West as it’s not really shunned over there…But it also isn’t THIS mainstream. This is just wrong, apparently it's going to be taking a more hands on and very agressive take on the subject of incest than any anime has done before. I'm really at a loss for words. What creeps me out is the way it's being handled as if it were real.
Angel Sanctuary,NGE,Tenchi, all those shows had to deal with incest in some part, but the way they did it was with heavy humor or involving some metaphysics and symbolism and religious events that kinda throws off the whole incest thing, or at least makes it seem smaller. While as this show is definetely grounded in reality in the manner it's being taken.
Also, that picture on the site scares the living crap out of me.

Ah, well. Thats just retarded. I cant read Japanese.. Though i can safely say I understand what your trying to say. There is no animewise an inner part to this. I love my little sister, i mean. The heck are they trying to set here.
Seems like another one of those, disturbing partings of Japanese times. Oh well.

I dont think it's that big of a deal, sure, it's nasty, but I've read a few incest mangas, and stuff and it dosent bug me now. ~_~
But like you said, it's not as big of a deal over there, and it's not like I can read the stuff in the link... XD

I don't think it's weird at all. The japanese just have a different idea of what's acceptable in today's world. It's not that their fetishes are weird, they're just outside of what society allows us to deem acceptable.

o_O Eh, normally I wouldn't really care. I'd go with the ever-clichéd "love is love" thing and then totter off to do something else.
But... then I saw the picutre. OMFG. She looks... what... eight years old? x_X The guy is at least 16. That is what I call wrong. >_<; If you've gotta do the incest--no, if you have to do anything regarding physical love--then I say at least make them both legal age or within the legal ages for consentual relationships.
I'm disturbed... and it takes a lot to make me disturbed. ;-;

The brother is 28 and she's 13...I wouldn't normally care but halfway down the manga she has her brothers daughter O.o; And that's only a "taste" of what the mangaka said she has planned for the incest in it.
Lightning
April 29th, 2005, 02:11 AM
Eh, she looks a lot younger in that picture. Anyway, regardless, the age gap is the thing that freaks me out here. o_o; Incest doesn't really squick me; but major age differences like that do. And normally it's not too bad (like in Cardcaptor Sakura like Rika and their teacher), but... teen pregnancy? That's going too far for me. :\ Blech.
Ryoutarou
April 29th, 2005, 02:14 AM
Well...it started in a teenaged magazine(14) then got moved to advanced (17) then to mature (22) and right now the manga is looking for a new publisher since it kept pushing the limits O.o Having a kid at that age in Japan is usually nothing big really, but having it with your borther is pushing it, even for their standards.
Lightning
April 29th, 2005, 02:16 AM
Lol, well, at least they're keeping it with the age group it belongs as it progresses. o_O It must have a fairly big fan base if publishers keep willingly picking it up like that... but then, the subject likely isn't as touchy there as it is here. Ehh...
=\ I wouldn't mind reading a bit of it, just to be able to judge after seeing it rather than prematurely like this. Who knows? Maybe it's actually more tasteful than we're giving it credit for? (Though, that would seriously surprise me.)

I've seen enough incest in anime based video games *coughFireEmblemcough* that it makes me kinda not freak out at the sight of this... XD

Meh. I don't think of it as any different anymore for the Japanese anyway. For me, I just don't plain care what they throw in. Extreme loli graphical violence? Done that... Incest? Done that... Teen pregnancy and also little girls being loved? Done before...
And this one is just mixing all the old stuff up into one package, that's all. (I know, I make it sound like it's no big deal, but it's mainly due to the lack of emotional attachment that I make with some of the manga/anime anyway)... Weird.

It was kicked out of the magazine that ran it because of the way it took incest...Even for most Japanese this is really beyond pushing it. Incest isn't shunned there, but it also isn't praised the way the manga does it.
Kenny_C.002
April 29th, 2005, 05:23 AM
True. The manga praising incest itself was kinda...strange...
I guess I don't really mind these things much anymore considering the fact that crazy things have been done and all. This isn't anything that surprising to me.

The manga would be okay if it weren't for them running around almost every chapter yelling "I love my sister!" "I had my brothers child!" O.o;

April 29th, 2005, 05:28 AM
lol that would be pretty disturbing to read...and I'm 99% sure that it'll be more disturbing than like Welcome to the NHK and stuff (sheesh that was a disturbing manga. XD) from the looks of it.

The link doesn't work for me. So, I'll go by what I've read.
Incest kinda freaks me out a bit, especially when it's intermediate family *glares at Erica with her KratosxLloyd-ness*. I see nothing wrong (eh, or at least it doesn't bother me that much) with cousins. But, brotherxsister?!? O_o You can love your family, just not in that way. I think you're confused with feelings when that happens. There are different kinds of love, and for some reason they end up getting mushed together sometimes. Anyway...I'm going off topic.
What's with the age difference? Even if they weren't related, why on Earth is a 28 year old sexually attracted to a 13 year old? Creepy pedophile!
Underage sex and teen pregnancy together. Wee~ Lol, what do their parents say to this?

If he's 28 and she's 13 and if that rumor was true, then he'd have been 15... (@_@) My brain hurts...
As for just the manga itself, I'd be able to read it without blinking an eyelash. Why? I've read shounen-ai, yaoi, yuri... AND shota-ai... I've read one even with a 10 year old cat-boy... most of them were doujinshi (sp?) or fan-manga.
Lightning
May 6th, 2005, 07:47 PM
Lmfao~~ XD XD He might be her dad too? That really takes the cake. Really, it's kinda hard to take seriously with all this. o_O;
Anyway, I'm not condoning incest, but I don't think relation should matter in love. (I had no idea how to put that, so it doesn't make much sense.) I mean, I agree with Triffy in which he says that anyone who seriously loves a sibling or parent is likely incredibly confused and doesn't truly realize which type of love they're experiencing, but there could also be exceptions to that rule. I doubt anyone who hasn't felt that way before could ever understand, which counts out a great deal of the population.
That said, I think it would be easier to fall in love with someone if you didn't grow up with them and weren't around them all the time. o_O So, like, I know I'll never love my brother in "that" way because I've grown up with him; I've known him since he was born. If I were adopted, though, and one day found a sibling who had been adopted by another family, it might be easier to fall in love like that. :\ Eh, just speculating or trying to bring up another viewpoint here; playing devil's advocate.
oO; But anyway, I'm assuming this guy grew up with his sister(/daughter xD), so that's just weird. <_< I can't relate. Ew.

This kind of stuff exists so Japanese people can get aroused by it. I seriously doubt that they condone this sort of thing by any means.

They didn't grow up together, they met like three days before the start of the series....I'm amazed how much I know about this...XD

I've read a few chapters and know the basic series outline...And some details or two that wouldn't be called just an "everyday reader" XD Now if you'll excuse me I'll go wash my brain out with the mindless action of transforming robots.

Sorta, it's a really good Japanese import place. It has a lot of anime/manga/artbooks/import games and other Japanese junk. And they aren't half bad with the prices considering none of it is bootleg.
Lightning
May 6th, 2005, 10:51 PM
Ah, okay. We have a few stores like that here. It's probably pointless for me to look for it now, though. xD I don't understand enough Japanese to read it anyway.

As for just the manga itself, I'd be able to read it without blinking an eyelash. Why? I've read shounen-ai, yaoi, yuri... AND shota-ai...
What's shota-ai? I know shounen and shoujo, but shota is a new one on me. . . .
Lightning
May 7th, 2005, 03:00 AM
Shota is generally when an adult is in a relationship with a young, underage boy. It's normally associated with yaoi (so a man attracted to a boy), although there's straight stuff too. :\
