Alot of people liked the idea because it was from the designers that brought us Diablo II, so obviously it looked like a 'Diablo III' to the fans- but it looks more like an MMORPG to me. Hey, atleast no monthly fees, right?

No monthly fees plus the fact that it's an MMORPG... Sounds good to me.
Anyone know exactly how many MMOs are out there without a monthly fee(legally)?

It's an Online RPG alright, but it's not a MMORPG according to most (even the developers say it's not a MMORPG, they call it a Competitive Online Role-Playing Game/CORPG). I've heard people using analogies to Diablo II and Phantasy Star Online mostly because once you leave a city, all the areas that aren't cities are instanced (only people you see are your party members). There isn't a monthly fee, but there are expansions every 6-9 months that add more stuff, like maps and possibly more races to play.
This game is pretty awesome, I pre-ordered this game and I got the Collector's Edition. I haven't been able to play much, but this game is awesome in graphics and story. I'm going to make a fansite for this game if I have the time.

I played in the BETA events and compared to other online games (pretty much any other RPG), it sucks. There's like really no way to tell whats going on in battle except if your opponent has more or less HP than you. There's no status messages telling you what's going on. You can't see how long your sepll is along in casting, no way to see exactly how much damage you're doing, nothing. And the fact that it is not truly an MMORPG but a "get 4 of your friends and play together" game. There isn't a single main town, but about 100 versions of it so you're extremely lucky if your friends can get on the same one (you can switch manually but when me I went to the one it said my friend was one, we still weren't on the same isntance of the main town).
It had some good ideas (like orderable NPCs to help you quest if you couldn't get any), I'll give it that, but they just aren't carried out well (eg: Those NPCs have extremely bad AI and don't heal you, only themselves). The graphics are nice, but I'm afraid graphics alone don't make a game.
And we here at Shadow Inc. give Guild Wars a 2 out of 5.

Wh-waiit... are we playing the same game? There are status messages that appear under the box that shows who your target is. There's a loading bar-type thing that shows you that you are casting your spell. I can see how much damage I'm doing when I'm attacking. Maybe your talking about PvP, because I haven't played it yet (I want to finish my RP chars first). What Beta Events did you play? I was in the last one, couldn't make the one before that due to having to work.

I don't mean just telling you who your target is. I mean detailed showing any special effects, buffs, etc. There was no loading bar thing when I played. Only the "ooo pretty" spell buttons. Speaking of spells, you can only have like 8 at a time which sucked.
I was in the first or second event. There were patches every five minutes though. =/ Bulk patches for the win!
