Do you guys think Pokemon Diamond and Pearl shoul be 3D or 2D and why.

3d. they can totally pull of a battle system like that in stadium since the graphics quality is there.

i think the screeen is kinda small for 3D
I like the 2D games so i dont realy care

If it's in 3D people like myself who want to get the Roms will get slightly annoyed because it'll be possibly other 10 MB.
But it has the capacity. Just not the graphics on the Nintendo 64 (I've seen picks of Super Mario 64 DS).

Uh, what are you talking about? i didn't understand. If your saying teh ds has worse graphics than the 64, its debatable. Mario ds has more poligons than teh 64 version, that it look better in my opinion.
anyway, i would prefer animated sprites.

I'd prefer only Battles to be 3D. I like the style of graphics that was depicted in the past games, on the map view.

I am so used to 2d that i dont want the change and besides making hack useing 3d graphics will be hard for those who can so 2d

2D for me too. I like the way the games have evolved since red/blue and I want to see it keep on evolving until it has to be 3D. There's still a lot that can be done with 2D graphics before the need to jump to 3D.

I think 3D, I think people don't like 3D because of the screwup that Pokemon Stadium1-2 and Colosseum made. 3D would be way good in Diamon and Pearl.

What do you mean screw up that Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 made? The only screw up I've heard of is Colosseum which I hear had a sucky RPG. I find it hard to believe something on a superier console sucks compared to the Nintendo 64. But then again it is Nintendo...

First of all, the graphics on the DS ARE better than the N64 graphics. I read it on ign or nintendo.com. Anyways, i'm gonna stick with 2D because i think that is what really seperates the GameBoy games from the console games, and it just wouldn't have the same feel.

May 8th, 2005, 12:21 AM
i think they should keep it in the same style as all the other gameboy games
3d might take up too much memorey leading to less features like night and day and pokemon contests leave the 3d to the bigger machines

3D,

Mwar, I'd like to see it use 3D graphics. For once it may look like Pokémon are actually using their attacks O_O;;

so far, the 3d games have been inferior to the 2d games... so i hope that it's in 2d. it would be a pain to make sprites from it and whatnot if it was in 3d.

I would like 3D!!!
DS has 2 screens (Dual Screen) ad I think at battles, the top screen should be 3D and the tuch screen should be 2D.
I also thing that this could apply to all moments!!!!

its a nice wish, but it would never happen. why have the action on two screens at once? a waste of a screen, which will probably used for move selecting.

2D sprites all the way! lately a lot of games have been lazy as hell and there is a huge increase of 3d or 3d cell shaded games which mostly look like crap to me (besides certain games that manage to add a nice style, like ffvii, zelda wind waker, and metal gear solid). plus if it was in 3d wouldnt there also be more loading time than on a 2d game? anyway i just love to see pokemon in 2d... pokemon in 3d is nice (like stadium and colloseum), but they can stay on the home systems for all i care (plus the animations take... so... long.... >< i get so impatient!)

I'd like it to be kept 2D. It keeps the battes from becoming long and drawn-out like Pokemon Stad./Col. fights. Just use the extra DS power to make flashy move animations.

I want it 2d and the battles, maybe you could choose betwene 2d/3d.Anyway think about the future of Pokemon,I mean Virtual Reallity and Holograms.

I'd say 3D, but while your walking around have it top-down still like on the GB/GBA games. ^_^

2D all the way. Instead of making flashy 3D graphics, I hope GaFre makes better senarios/attacks etc.

yeah, i would prefer they perfect 2d before going into 3d. like having the pokemon actually make contact with each other.

2d Cause 3d on the small scrren would make me dizzy on ds and i though ds was sduppose to have gamecube graphics but mario came out bad since they rush it

2d would be the best. As the reason you couldn't capture pokémons the normal way in colosseum was because if its in 3d, you should be able to see them in the field and avoid them or look for the good ones... not just randomly meet something, sometime...

if they made it 3d it would look awsume. as for the grass you wouldnt be able to see the pokemon but you walk around ant the battle starts. fishing you see the rod and a hand on the reel and on the botom screen there are diferent size siluets of fish (that dont look like pokemon) you hook one by moving the hook infrount of it and once you catch that pokemon you will see a full colour version of it so you know if you have caught the pokemon before you catch it or sometimes you might find a square were only 1 type of pokemon is

2D. 3D would probably take up too much space anyways.

Well, I'm so used to playing the pokemon in 2D that it being 3-D will be kinda odd... but I'm sure i'll get used to it, though. Before I was all for the pokemon handheld games staying in 2D but now I'm leaning for them to be in 3-D... it'd be pretty sweet roaming the land in 3-D on your DS. ^^
Dark Penguin

yeah, but also it would be a big jump, and i think i would rather let them test 3d on Pokemon XD, and see how it goes, before taking such a big step as to make diamond and pearl 3d.

I think, it should either be all 2d, (first option)
Or maybe... 2d Overworld and 3d battle... that might be ok!?

Im on 3Ds side but I would think it would be fine if the chacrecters had more detail in the over world.

here's a question for all you 3d people: How would you walk around, walk through grass, avoid other trainers, etc? It would be interesting, but it'd be a huge jump, and i don't see a huge advantage to having it. though a 2d game and 3d battles would be interesting.

Simple the graphics can be similiar to The Urbz

2D, because on Pokemon Colluseum seemed so stupid as 3D. It just seemed so much better 2D. I don't know why.

Well If It Has To Be 2D They Could At Least Make Things More Detailed In The Overworld.

I would have to side with 2d because it would make spriting a whole lot easier, but if they wanted the battles to be 3d and the status screens 2d, I would be ok with that.
Haruki Hanai
June 11th, 2005, 06:06 AM
Well consider that GameFreak and Nintendo DID render the 3D Pokémon Graphics in Stadium/2 (I dunno about Colosseum). But I like simple spriting as much as 4Kids has.

I really want 2D graphics... (Else we wouldn't have aynthing to sprite with!) I don't know, I didn't like Colloseum, and partially because of the 3D graphics.

I would like them to use both screens for the map and when you are in a battle the bottom screen becomes the pokedex so you can find statistics for the battle

i think nintendo's best 2d and detailed because 3d would take alot of memory. and 3d battles detailed as well. since its better than n64 graphics they could make the game so long and good graphics. i mean just 3d would be to much memory just 2d will give pokemon bad scores in graphics have u seen the scores? 6, 6.5 highest 7 and on the DS 4 4.5 highest 5. animated sprites for a long time like yosi tosh and go exceptable but in emeral just when chosen stupid. so 2d world 3d battles.

I have seen a trailer of Pokémon Diamond/Pearl, I think. It's 2D. The graphic looks like Game Boy Advance, but good for GBA. But it's DS not GBA. If it was about to be 3D I would worry, since the graphic of Colloseum and DX is very very bad and the Pokémon attacks the air and still hit their opponents. In Stadium at least it looked as if they were touching the opponent when they used tackle, bite, double edge, etc. Colloseum is also very slow. The Pokémon does not emediatly attack when you choose a move, but waits a few seconds. And when you strike more than once your Pokémon attacks, the opponent is hit, you attack, opponent is hit and so on. In Stadium you attack X number of times and the opponent is hit X times, so that the camera don't need to switch so many times as when in Colloseum.

3D would be nice but too bad that it is going to be 2D.
