In round two, people have to sing their way through. But there's a thing to it. Every week, someone has to...
Get voted off each week.
And this is all member votes!
Follow the rules, then sing to your desire. What do you need?
1) A good-quality microphone. One that we can get your sound from!
2) Family audiences preferably. No obvious swearing, flaming, etc.
3) No rap. People can obviously sing without that stuff.
4) 2:00 audio limit. You don't have to sing a full song.
5) Size and formats are limited. Don't bother with AC3 formats. You might be able to use WAVs, but MP3s are preferred.
Round two audits start next week!

Ahh, Anthy-chan, you're discriminating against rappers XD
Haruki Hanai
June 7th, 2005, 06:27 AM
In what way, JA? :-p
Swearing? Sure, if it's heard in music videos then it's not too bad (To the Top 10: Excessive swearing in Round Two Audits will see the submissions REMOVED).

It's not a singing round, and therefore won't be allowed in the Round 2 audits.
And yes, the Top 10 get to (finally) have a backing tune (but not a song).
Please don't SPAM, Tyler. ~_~

I was going to enter with that anyway, but I couldn't find my mic. o_o;

Sounds like fun. XD
But seriously, there wouldn't be much to sing. o_o

First of all, goodie! I get to sing another song! I likes singing! *droolz* Only problem is I gotta find a time that noone will be around the house, so I don't have to face the laughter and ridicule of my family for recording my fractured vocals. ;_;
Secondly, I'm confused. What do you mean, "it's not a singing round"? And could you clarify what you mean by having a backing tune that's not a song? Sowwy for my idiocy! *Puts on the baka cap and waits patiently*

Sometimes you can get karaoke tracks for the songs you sing. I try to only sing songs I can find Karaoke tracks for. I'm not very good with audio editing, lol! :P
Haruki Hanai
June 8th, 2005, 05:50 AM
Allow me to clarify. You can have backing tracks, but no backing vocals. Either strip the vocals or use another song (karaoke, if you want).
There's no language restriction either. So if I wanted, I could sing "Challenger!!" (Karaoke). XD
The Round 2 audits end near the end of this month. Just stressing so because baby_azurill just got grounded and I feel she should get some time, ne?
Mr Cat Dog
June 8th, 2005, 11:03 AM
If you feel more comfortable singing a capella, then that's fine, but if you feel more confident karaoke style or something, then that's also fine. We don't want to push you to do one or the other at a time and such
I hope that made sense...XD

Hey everyone. I just found out the good news. Way to go, for those of you who made it. I did too. YEA! LOL! :P Sorry to those of you who didn't. Maybe next time, ne? Well, now the gloves come off, it's time to get to work. Good luck guys!
I do have a question Tesuya-san. I want to do Suteki da ne, from Final Fantasy X...it's one of my favorite video game songs. Anyway, as long as there's none of Rikki's vocals it's ok right? Would that be a little wierd though? I don't think so, but still...I mean it's a girl song...well a girl sings it anyway, and well...last time I checked, I wasn't a girl, LOL! Anyway, that's it right, I just need a song, it doesn't matter about the vocals right...well I mean, no other vocals?
Ja ne,

[font=Tahoma]Hem-hem, the poll is meant for the Top 10 (and who will be kept in). Not the SPAM-singers. If you wanted to SPAM-sing, you should have done an audition. XD
Tsukasa_chan: It might depend on the gender the judge who listens expects. I don't mind a different gender singing a different-gender song (like me singing Chiisaki Mono). But who knows what the judges will say. They could encourage/discourage.

Man, I'm having the hardest time getting a good recording out. I've been solid through a lot of songs, only to mess it up with one off note. Driving me insane. Currently I'm considering:
Lonely No More//Rob Thomas
Scars//Papa Roach
Picture (Kid Rock)//Kid Rock and Cheryl Crow
I Miss You//blink 182

I'm going to try to mix it sometime this week, I want to run it by to see if it's acceptable, or if the music is too much.
I've also been working on Christina Agulaira's "I am Beautiful"
If I submitted this song in this competition at any point, I'd laugh hysterically, because so much of it is out of my range.

I know it's got problems, but I may yet go in and change it out. *Shrugs contentedly* Meh, I've had fun trying to pick a song I could sing. Okay, let's not go overboard here, lol. You'll actually get me believing that malarky if you keep it up. :P
What kind of music do you listen to, Eliana? What songs in that kind do you feel the most comfortable with when you sing along? That's basically the ones I choose. For example, I have a wide range of music I listen to, and I rotate it all around during my commute back and forth to work. It takes me a good 45-50 mins. to get from one place to the other, so that's lots of time for me to sing along with my music. I have some where my voice sounds like a cat dying in a manifold, but I have others where I think it's not quite as hard to reach the notes. Basically, I'd say choose the ones that you think your voice doesn't have to stretch too far to sing. That's the timid way to go, and it's my method, anyway. :D Lol. It's not necessarily the best, but it works for me.
If you tell me what kind of music you listen to, I'd be happy to go back and listen to your voice again so that I could try to make a guess about what songs I think your voice would sound good with. :P I've never done that before, but what could it hurt? Lol.

Yeah, I don't think that would be a good idea, but If a member wanted to start and independent one...that would be better.
Also, I have a question. I just recorded my entry but it is 13 seconds over 2 minutes...is that ok? And it was my best recording and I don't have a program to edit out any parts to make it shorter.

Someone recommended Audacity to me, and it worked like a dream come true. :D Just go to www.download.com and search for "Audacity" and you'll find it. You can edit it with that, and you can do fades, and all that other neat stuff. :P But if they let you keep your recording then I guess you wouldn't need it, lol.
The thing is, the message board has an attachment size limit of 2 megabytes... so if your song is longer than two minutes, you have a good chance of going over the file size limit. I'd be willing to bet that's why they put the length restriction on there. :P
Edit: Oh, and if you do decide to use Audacity, and you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post 'em here. :D I'd be more than willing to help you with it. ^_~

Woah woah, calm down girl, lol! There's nothing wrong with it the way it is! I just wondered if you'd gotten your hands on an alternate recording that I'd never heard before. :P And anyway, I'm not a judge. Any advice I give you would be purely my own opinion... therefore not to be followed unless you yourself thinks it's good enough advice to warrant another recording. Anyway, as it is, you have until the end of the month to do another recording, if you ever think you'd like to try. And btw, there's nothing wrong with your mic that I can hear. It was all-around a very strong cut. ^_~
Now, if I were to offer some advice, I can tell you how I sing my songs. I kind of cheat a little, and listen to the song on my headphones as I sing along with it. I can sing with my own voice, and I have the original to keep me on the same timing. It's worked pretty well with me. ^_~

Lol... it's gotten pretty easy for me. I can't o.o I honestly think I don't stand a chance o_o
Grr... >:| *Whacks Eliana with the "Optimism" stick* Don't say such things! You have entirely the wrong attitude for this! The point of this contest isn't to say, "Yay, I have the best voice! All of you suxx0rz!" It's to enjoy the opportunity to sing some of your favorite songs and share your voice with others. So what if you don't sound like Mariah Carey, or Megumi Hayashibara? Your voice is part of what makes you an individual, and if you can't let yourself be happy with it, then how can you truly be happy with yourself? I think too many of you are taking this competition too seriously. :( Any time you enter a contest that takes skill, you have to be prepared for the possibility that you won't come out on top. We all have to face that possibility. But should that keep us from making our best efforts, and giving it our all? Heck no! If everyone was to let their fear of failing dictate their actions, we wouldn't get to hear anyone's singing! >_> It's the same with any other contest. If everyone was afraid of failure and didn't enter, what kind of fun would there be in even trying? I sure as heck don't wanna participate in a contest that no one else wants to participate in. :(
And I know I can't speak for the rest of you, but my definition of a good singing voice isn't necessarily one that can carry a tune all the time. To me, that isn't the most important part at all. >:[ It's the feeling you put into it that counts. If you're singing your heart out, and you're loving every minute of it, then it doesn't matter if you sound like Whitney Houston or Gilbert Godfried. It'll be there in your voice if you're having a good time. And that's what really counts. No one can tell me that because my voice isn't cut out to win me any record labels, I can't sing. And you shouldn't count yourselves out of it either. Singing is fun, and it should make you feel good all over. Don't let whatever misguided conception of a good singing voice you have ruin the experience for you. To me, everyone who's entered this contest, all the way up from the beginning, is already a winner. The fact that you've put your voice out on display for others to hear, despite your own misgivings about yourselves, is proof that you have enough joy in your hearts to devote it to singing. So in my book, you're all superstars. ;) So from now on, if I hear anymore disparaging remarks about any of the voices here - or the people that they belong to - I'm gonna whack the ones who said them with the Optimism stick! *Brandishes it menacingly and glares at everybody*

Omg you're so smart XDDDD
See, if we had this in real life I wouldn't be as depressed because I know for a fact I do sound good in real life lol
Don't mind me I just don't have any confidence lol

I need a quick decision here, because I'm truly worried about my fate in this competition. I know how well I can sing, and I'm sure other people saw it in my audition, or I would'nt be here right now. However, my illness had prohibited me from performing 100% thus far in this round.
I've gotten mixed reviews from people so far, but mixed might not be good enough. I quickly through this together, and I need to know by the deadline (tomorrow), whether you think that this is enough of an improvement to give me a better chance to be here for the next round.

Jiggly, I think both of your performances were very good! :D I liked the first one better, because with the background music, I think it really gives us more of a clue as to what the whole song sounds like. But on the other hand, your second recording is much clearer, and much more eloquent.
And there's one more thing... I hate to bring it up, because I worry that this may also affect other entries... -_-; I can hear other singing going on in your original entry. Is that just backup singing, or is that the whole vocals for the original cut of that song? The reason I ask is because with the other singing in the background, it drowns your voice out a lot. :( If it were me making the decision, I'd just go with your second recording. :P Sure, it sounds cool with backup music, but if we can't hear your voice, then what's the point?

It was me trying to cut the vocals to the song. However, it didn't co-operate like I would've desired. I'm glad that I'm getting some positive comments, because my comments from Alexis left me reeling for answers.
Also, I think the singing without the background music better shows off my vocals, rather than have the music to cover up the mistakes. Sure, I may slip up once or twice in the song, but overall, if it can leave that impression wihout music, then it's golden.

Well, JigglyPuffIsHot, I'm glad that u got comments different from mine, and I hope you understand why I make that comment, it's to make you evolve even more, 'cause we can't learn without mistakes, imagine if mistakes doesn't exist, how could you get better than before? It's impossible, right? However, I already told u that this is only my opinion, I have not the right to judge, 'cause the judges are here to do that, right? I hope you understand what I said, but I trust you, and I feel that you can pass to the next round.

After listening to your clip I suggest keeping the music... I have my reasons...

So how are people going to vote for this? Should there be a poll set up or something? Neee, Tetsuya-san? =3
I've changed my sig to make sure people vote! I made a pwetty but simple banner for it too. ^_~ If you wanna use my banner in your sig, be sure and save it to your own image hosting account somewhere before you use it. I've linked it back to this thread, but that might change if Tetsuya-san makes a separate thread/poll strictly for voting. =X

I don`t know what do u mean, I guess there is nothing who can bring trouble here, so I guess nothing is going on.
Are u talking about the publicity? If it`s about that I think Shuko is the only one who knows what`s going on.
