in emerald why is there only 1 pokemon contest?

Because they replaced the others with Battling Contests. I guess they wanted there only to be one is another answer.

Actually there's only on BUILDING. All the contests are housed inside ^-^

I don't think he did know that xP He said one "contest" not one "building".
