View Full Version : The Samurai Champloo/Paranoia Agent/S-CRY-Ed Club

I decided to combine all three of adult swim's summer animes into one club, because if you watch one of them, I figure that odds are that you watch at least one of the other ones, so it makes this all the more convenient for a lot of potential members. So, join if you like any of these ^_^;
~CK
And one rule, though: ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS!
Shounen Bat isn't the only one with a metal bat around here, you know =p

Hmph...I started watching Samarai Champloo awhile ago and am going to try out the other two this week...so...count me in!

Top shelf! Our first member. Definitely watch Paranoia Agent this weekend--you won't regret it. It's all great stuff, actually.

Okay! I'll take your word for it! *Can't wait till Saturday*
Chairman Kaga
June 10th, 2005, 02:30 AM
I can't wait either--the three shows are getting more enthralling with each episode.
It still doesn't keep me from missing Fullmetal Alchemist, though .___.;
Midori Chi
June 10th, 2005, 02:33 AM
*saddened* Yes...FMA is one of the best..
Chairman Kaga
June 10th, 2005, 02:38 AM
All three combined kind of make up for it, but not quite. It doesn't detract from my enjoyment of them, though ^_^; But it's going to be soooo long before there are new episodes ;_;
Midori Chi
June 10th, 2005, 02:39 AM
Ah...Can you give me a little summary for the 2?
Chairman Kaga
June 10th, 2005, 02:46 AM
Ok!
Paranoia Agent--There is a mysterious attacker in Tokyo that attacks people whenever they are becoming upset, depressed, or paranoid to the point of madness. Those who are attacked all describe the attacker as a sixth-grade boy wearing golden roller skates, and they all say that the weapon is a golden baseball bat, bent like a dog's leg. The first victim was the strange girl Tsukiko Sagi, inventor of the famous plush pink dog called Maromi. Since that attack, two investigators have been attempting to find out the identity of the assailant, now dubbed Lil' Slugger (Shounen Bat in Japan).
S-CRY-Ed: Apparently sometime in the near future there's a horrible accident in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan which creates a barren, laweless area known as the Lost Ground. In the Lost Ground are mutated humans who can use spiritual powers known as Alter Users. They can do things like change matter, create machines from thin air, things of that nature, but the power varies from Alter User to Alter User. And the assumption of most normal people is that Alter Users are a vile and inhuman breed of people and that they are all dangerous thugs and outlaws. Anyway, a special military unit called HOLD was made to bring control to the Lost Ground, and there is a special elite group of good Alter Users in HOLD called HOLY who attempt to bring down the outlaw Alter Users of the Lost Ground. The show focuses on one of the supposed outlaws and one of the HOLY members, and displays their individual lives during the show. At least, that's the impression I get of it.

Hmm...I've seen them once, but I really liked them. I don't see them often, though. Man, my mom said I can only stay over one night at my cousins, so I won't be able to see Paranoia Agent. Why, why...
Chairman Kaga
June 10th, 2005, 03:40 PM
Ah, that's a shame =/ Do you and your cousin have VCRs? That might be a last-ditch, desperate way to get to see it <<;

I really like these shows. Especially Samurai Champloo.

Chairman Kaga
June 19th, 2005, 07:02 PM
Sure, join the club! We need all the activity we can get.
Samurai Champloo and Paranoia Agent were both incredible last night. I have S-CRY-Ed on tape, but I haven't watched it yet.
They had better not have really arrested Shounen Bat ;_;
Kratos
June 19th, 2005, 07:05 PM
I can't believe that one dude caught and beat up Little Slugger last night. I expected that guy to be knocked down the easiest. But then he got back up and beat down Little Slugger. I was dissapointed. If your like Little Slugger don't ever go down like that.Sorry if that counted as a spoiler.
Kratos
Chairman Kaga
June 19th, 2005, 07:09 PM
Agreed. Lil' Slugger went down far too easily. He had more than enough time to get back up and beat that man until he went down, but he stayed on the ground and looked at the guy like a deer into headlights and was stomped into unconsciousness =/ That was really disappointing.
Kratos
June 19th, 2005, 07:17 PM
That was imbarassing how Lil' Slugger went. You are right. He could have got up and beat down that guy. But now I know how weak Lil' Slugger truly is if he can't even try to reach for his bat again. If I were to hit that guy and he didn't go down I would have gotten out of there quicker too. Lil' Slugger might have well as asked or waited to get pummelled down. I actually felt sorry for Lil' Slugger with how much he got hurt.
Kratos
Chairman Kaga
June 19th, 2005, 07:24 PM
Yeah, poor guy. Maybe he's not a sixth-grader; instead he may just be a violent, short person with brittle bones.
There's got to be some way for him to get out of this--there are still eight episodes left, after all o_o;
Kratos
June 19th, 2005, 07:26 PM
What do you mean still 8 episodes left? The series isn't going to end is it?
They got rid of Lil' Slugger to soon in the show.
Kratos
Chairman Kaga
June 19th, 2005, 07:31 PM
Unfortunately the show ran its course at thirteen episodes. Lil' Slugger will probably make a comeback after his arrest, but there'll have to be a couple of pretty big plot holes for it to occur x_x
Kratos
June 19th, 2005, 07:40 PM
That is a shame. I thought it would be alot longer. Is it going to be like that with S-CRY-ed and Samurai Champloo? Lil' Slugger I think will make a come back.
Kratos
Chairman Kaga
June 19th, 2005, 08:59 PM
S-CRY-Ed and Samurai Champloo are both 26 episodes, fortunately for us. Though it makes me wonder if they'll wait until both are over to put on FMA and GitS: SAC again.
Kratos
June 19th, 2005, 09:02 PM
Man! I expected them to be longer too. O well I will miss those shows once there gone. But I like FMA better than all of them.
Sorairo
June 19th, 2005, 09:22 PM

June 19th, 2005, 10:00 PM
I am so in this club. I like Samurai Champloo, Paranoia Agent, and S-CRY-ed equally, and so far, I've never missed a single episode of any of them.
I still can't believe that Lil' Slugger was caught so soon...
Sorairo
June 19th, 2005, 10:05 PM
i dont think he was caught. its too early!
Chairman Kaga
June 21st, 2005, 08:20 PM

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Did you guys see Paranoia Agent last time?
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 09:54 PM
Not yet, but I have it on tape, so tonight!
I'm so glad this club is alive...let's keep it that way!
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 09:55 PM
Yeah, we need people more active here. cause of how awesome the shows are.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 10:05 PM
Indeed...I'm sure there's a lot of people who like at least one of them here. The problem is that this club gets almost no exposure.
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 10:09 PM
Yeah, but you know what I think I think people don't like all 3 except some and the rest just like one out of the 3 shows.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 10:27 PM
That may be so. All I can gage so far is that at PC, Paranoia Agent > s-CRY-ed from the sizes of their topics in the anime forum. I really should make a Samurai Champloo topic and see how it fares.
I did specify that one didn't need to be a fan of all three shows to belong to this, though. Maybe people didn't notice that.
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 10:40 PM
Yeah, but enough of that you will love that Paranoia Agent episode.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 10:53 PM
I bet I will. Countdown: 3 hours until I can see it o_o;

July 12th, 2005, 10:56 PM
Dude it was so good I can't wait fo you to see it. Oh, Samurai Champloo was good last night too.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 11:01 PM
It was, it was. I had no idea they had crucifiction in Japan. They must have learned about it during the times that the Jesuits were active in Japan and even into the times after Europeans were expelled.
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:07 PM
Well I won't get into the religious thing. But that is what I thought at first. Curcification.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 11:10 PM
Of course all societies have had devices where people are put on a pole or similar object and killed through various means, but that was definitely a cross. It makes me wonder if it was really historically accurate or if they were taking artistic license like they do with a lot of things in the show. Either way, it was an odd and unexpected touch.
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:13 PM
I thought the way the Japanese were going to do it though was they were going to have their spear stabbed at them once they are on the Cross.
Jack O'Neill
July 12th, 2005, 11:16 PM
Well I won't get into the religious thing. But that is what I thought at first. Curcification.
I know what crucifixion is, but what's curcification? XD
Jin and Fuu weren't nailed to the crosses and left there to die; they were merely tied to the crosses and poked with spears.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 11:20 PM
You're both right about it being different...I remember them being bound instead of nailed now (it was late at night x_x; ) and having spears ready to jab into them. They were on a cross, but the rest was pure coincidence, likely.
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:24 PM
Which is why it is different for each thing they were only tied to the Crosses.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 11:26 PM
Yes yes. Put on a cross but not crucified. Thank goodness Mugen burned down that field of opium or whatever it was x_x;
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:27 PM
I thought it was a drug plant. It was funny. they all were funny.
Jack O'Neill
July 12th, 2005, 11:31 PM
Yes yes. Put on a cross but not crucified. Thank goodness Mugen burned down that field of opium or whatever it was x_x;
Opium? I don't think that opium fumes are hallucinogenic. It was probably marijuana or some other sort of drug plant.
Anyways, everybody got high off the fumes, creating quite a few trippy scenes, especially when Mugen fought the warrior priest leader and the colors and shapes began changing.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 11:31 PM
Yeah, definitely a drug plant, but whether it's opium, I don't know. Opium comes from poppies and I didn't see any of those. I suppose that's what the warrior-priests (I forget their Japanese names) were going to fund their revolution with. I can't wait to see Mugen, Jin, and Fuu high ^^
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:34 PM
I mostly want to see Jin like that. LOL, Jin is awesome. But to see him high would be hilarious, LOL.
Jack O'Neill
July 12th, 2005, 11:35 PM
Only Mugen got high, and Fuu called him a jackass when she saw him partying with the warrior priests.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 11:38 PM
I mostly want to see Jin like that. LOL, Jin is awesome. But to see him high would be hilarious, LOL.
I want to see Fuu high...I want to see what sort of exaggerated personality she takes on or whether she does anything crazy o_o; But yes, the normally mild-mannered Jin should be interesting to see drugged.
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:41 PM
Who is better, Mugen or Jin? I would have to say Jin. I like Jin better too.
Akio123
July 12th, 2005, 11:44 PM
I love Jin from Samurai Champloo. Can I please join?
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:46 PM
Welcome to the club. As soon as CK gets back he should add you to the list. Yeah I agree with you. I love Jin.
Chairman Kaga
July 12th, 2005, 11:47 PM
Of course you can join! We need more members desperately o_o;
I could never decide between Mugen and Jin. They're so different that it makes them equally appealing.
Kratos
July 12th, 2005, 11:53 PM
Maybe not but personally I like Jin better. But Mugen is still cool.
Akio123
July 13th, 2005, 12:15 AM
Jin is so much cooler and better then Mugen. Jin is the cool samurai, while Mugen is exactly like Spike from Cowboy Bebop. (It is even the same voice)
Chairman Kaga
July 13th, 2005, 07:04 PM
So I suppose we should change the subject to last saturday's Paranoia Agent now. Thoughts, anyone?
Kratos
July 13th, 2005, 07:06 PM
Yeah, you saw the last episode of Paranoia Agent right? I loved how he broad casted on the radio.
Chairman Kaga
July 13th, 2005, 07:23 PM
Yeah, there are always things you don't know about people that you're finding out. That radio broadcast at the end was rather creepy...it makes me wonder who he was talking to <_<;

Jack O'Neill
July 15th, 2005, 04:55 AM
As a little aside here, the plants that Mugen burned down (and subsequently got high off of) in the latest episode of Samurai Champloo were marijuana plants. I rewatched that episode tonight; I noticed it at first when Mugen reached the warrior-priests' stronghold, and later when he fought the warrior-priests themselves. "Holy grass" doesn't leave much to the imagination, ya know. =P
As for Paranoia Agent, I plan on rewatching that episode later tonight. I didn't pay that much attention the first time around.
Chairman Kaga
July 15th, 2005, 02:41 PM
I can't believe I didn't catch the holy grass comment the first time around o_o;
I hope those of you who didn't see Paranoia Agent on saturday saw it last night. If you didn't, I think I can write a synopsis out...though the show was in a hundred different places at once this week x_x;

Hey Can I join? Samurai Champloo is my fave out of the three. What is Paranoia Agent about? What is S-cry-Ed about?
Chairman Kaga
July 15th, 2005, 07:46 PM
Of course you can join! ^_^
Paranoia Agent: A series of attacks in Tokyo have been connected to a mysterious child named Lil' Slugger. He attacks people who feel cornered and despairful, and his attacks usually leave the target free of their problems at a larger psychological cost. From the first incident, involving the beating of Tsukiko Sagi, inventor of the famous plush dog Maromi, until the most recent ones, the only thing that people can recognize on Lil' Slugger are his golden roller skates and his golden baseball bat, bent like a dog's leg. The story focuses on the two investigators trying to crack the case (before the case cracks them <<; )
s-CRY-ed: Apparently sometime in the near future there's a horrible accident in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan which creates a barren, laweless area known as the Lost Ground. The show focuses on one of the supposed outlaws (Kazuma) and one of the HOLY members (Ryoho), and displays their individual lives during the show.

Ooo. Cairman have you seen Kazuma's full alter power yet? I have.
Chairman Kaga
July 15th, 2005, 08:01 PM
I haven't...I've been trying to not spoil it for myself. I was hoping he would have something a bit more impressive than a mutated arm (not to say his shocking first/annihilating second/exterminating last bullet is bad or anything.)
And this is kind of off topic but still anime--do you know if Hawkeye's American name in FMA is Riza or Liza? I don't know if they changed it x_x;
Kratos
July 15th, 2005, 08:05 PM
*off topic* I think Liza.
*on Topic* I thought you knew his full alter power I can show you it if you want to see it. Do you?

July 15th, 2005, 08:09 PM
Alright, you can show it. Maybe I saw it but I'm not thinking correctly x_x;

Yeah...[as]'s comedy lineup usually gets three times the ratings that their anime one does. There are a lot of factors involved in this, but I won't go into them right now.
Favorite characters? In Samurai Champloo, I'd have to say Mugen and Fuu, and in s-CRY-ed, it would have to be Kazuma, Straight Cougar, and Ayasae.

Yesterday's S-cy-ed was so funny. I wish I has Unke's Alter power. I'd say the Earthers bowed down to Birdman as they make him king of the world Mua ha ha ha.

Samurai Champloo was incredible last night...Shoryu was the most dangerous enemy yet on that show. Mugen is so lucky he knows how to use the element of surprise. But a guy using Chinese martial arts against samurai? That's such an amazing concept o_o;
s-CRY-ed was awesome last night...I was worried that Kazuma had really lost it until they introduced Unke. It was so freakish to see him joining HOLY and enjoying city life, it was incredibly out of character for him. I'm starting to really hate Ryoho. I find him more and more dispicable every week.

Meh I like Ryoho more than Kazuma. I think Kazuma like like Mimori. I think the blue short haired girl likes Ryoho.

I was thinking to myself, "WTF is Kazuma doing?! Has he completely lost his mind?!" Unke's presence made it all seem plausible, but still, Kazuma joining HOLY? Ludicrous. And yes, Ryuho gets more despicable episode by episode.

You mean the girl who lives with Kazuma and bears a rather vague resemblance to Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion? Her name's Kanami.

I finally saw Paranoia Agent and it was freaking disturbing o_o; I mean, that suicide cult was CRAZY, each one of them. Now that we know that the boy in custody was part of the cult, I wonder if they'll play a part in any more of the episodes. But the ending...eeesh...something majorly got lost in translation there. Pretty disgusting...were they insinuating what I thought they were about that threesome by showing that machine?

Well, whenever they tried to kill themselves, something would happen that would prevent them from dying. Blame their own bad luck (if it could be considered that) for their longevity.

I guess that was the twist ending. See in the spoiler it said apparently there is a twist ending. I saw no twist, but a very ironic twist when they decided not to kill themselves. Or that Kozuka was the Fox guy in the chatroom.

Well, whenever they tried to kill themselves, something would happen that would prevent them from dying. Blame their own bad luck (if it could be considered that) for their longevity.
I know, it was usually the girl who caused their suicide attempts to fail. I just meant it makes me wish they would have succeeded.
Myrrh: Some people are just suicidal with little or no reason. 80% of people seriously ponder suicide at some point in their life (usually in the teenage years) and then get out of it. I've thought of it, my beloved has (she had the razor to her wrist at one moment in her life but backed out at the last second), I know a lot of people who have wondered about it. There are some people who don't stop thinking about it and, furthermore, find it appealing, either out of hating their own lives or hating the world or out of desire to make a statement. Those three were some of the people who are of that mindset, for whatever reason, only they know. I think the old man was tired of Japanese society's decay; the young man had some kind of torment over being gay; the girl was young, misguided, and thought it would be fun because she did not comprehend the permanence of death.

Yeah, Fuu definitely loves Jin. Mugen had some great quotes in that last episode:
(about Jin going to the brothel) "At least we know what side he's playing for now."
(to Fuu) "You've got the figure of a wood plank." XD Loved those.
I thought the girl in Paranoia Agent was going to get attacked too...I suppose it makes more sense that her husband would be attacked and the one chance she had for a true story to tell was gone when her husband couldn't remember.

I think Kanami just looks little...isn't he Kazuma's girlfriend? I loved the wood plank comment too XD I guess he didn't remember seeing what Fuu looked like when she was about to be killed after he set that marijuana field on fire XD
And I know I've said this before, but more than anything I can't get over the fact that Mugen's beetle is named Rodriguez!!!!

Samurai Champloo's lastest episode here was great! I felt so bad for Jin (sp?) but I think it was a good thing to let her go. Good episode though!

Believe me, it's not children who have become more sensitive over time, it's the animators. Look at the old Looney Tunes from the 1940s for example...they're full of gun violence and killing and pain-infliction and all sorts of things that would be deemed improper for television today. I think Paranoia Agent is fine for someone 15+, like most other animes. If someone doesn't know the difference between a cartoon and life by then, there's no hope for them =/

I loved Paranoia Agent last night...it's so novel for there to be an episode of an anime whose plot is to show the inner workings of an anime studio =p It was great, though. That man ended up killing everyone in the office, and then Lil' Slugger killed him. He deserved it <.<
Did anyone else notice how odd it was that there was a man in that office named Oda Nobunaga? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that the name of a powerful Edo shogun?
And Samurai Champloo was a clip show ;______________; I didn't know animes had clip shows.

Anything's possible in the anime, ranging from clip shows to documentaries about the inner workings of the studios that make them.
By the way, Oda Nobunaga did not rule during the Edo period. Nobunaga ruled from 1573-1582; the Edo period was from 1600-1868 (the rule of the Tokugawa shogunate). Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, succeeded Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who succeeded Nobunaga.

Chairman Kaga
August 1st, 2005, 06:05 PM
Kaname (sp?) is somewhere between sister and significant other to Kazuma, goatman. She's a bit young for love right now, but if Kazuma can survive a couple of years, Kaname X Kazuma isn't out of the question. It looks like a lot of people in the Lost Ground live together out of necessity, as I've always assumed that there are a lot of orphans from the difficulties that abound there.
And, Jack, on top of it all, we'll probably never find out what HOLY (or HOLD for that matter) means, or if it's even an acronym for something -.-;

I saw the first 1/3 of it last night but my mom told me to go to sleep :(. So what happened?
Chairman Kaga
August 6th, 2005, 01:13 AM
Basically, it was the story of a man working at a studio producing a maromi anime. He is treated meanly by all his co-workers, so he murders them one by one, and in the end Lil' Slugger kills him. Through the episode, maromi also explains the steps it takes to make an anime =p
Jack O'Neill
August 6th, 2005, 01:23 AM
I saw the first 1/3 of it last night but my mom told me to go to sleep :(. So what happened?I wasn't paying much attention to it, so I can't really help you there. The Chairman posted a rather brief summary of that episode of Paranoia Agent somewhere on this page, however; try looking for it.
Max is the most horrible HOLY member yet, though Ryoho, Scheris, and Commander Jigmar are getting awful too. =/Agreed. Max Emergy is perhaps the most depraved member of HOLY we've seen so far; I mean, who gives kids bomb-filled toys?! Fortunately, Kazuma thought of the children and kicked his ***.
Ryuho's definitely a scumbag; that kid in that town had every right to call him a traitor for selling out to HOLY. Commander Jigmar is just as morally void as Max and Ryuho, if not even more; he is the one giving out the orders to the other unholy bastards, after all. I kinda have a soft spot for Scheris, so I'll leave her alone...for now.
Chairman Kaga
August 15th, 2005, 03:51 PM
I was hoping that s-CRY-ed would be a show that would allow the viewer to identify with both sides of the HOLY vs. inner alter struggle, but I simply cannot bring myself to identify with anything that HOLY stands for now; only a soulless person with the heart of a tyrant could ever support them. Did anyone else notice that they said that the government does not recognize alter users as human? What kind of evil has infiltrated their legislative system so far as to drive them to dehumanize innocent people? I'm furious over the whole situation, and that nobody at HOLY, Mimori aside, has an opinion on alter users that differs in the least from that of the government. It's the HOLY alters that are more inhuman than anyone; they're the ones that need captured and put eternally into cryostasis.
I've got a bad feeling that this may be the last episode of Samurai Champloo for a while tonight. Is this not going to be the halfway point? I almost think I saw on an [as] bump that Samurai Champloo would be "returning" in November, despite the fact that they haven't mentioned its departure once.
Wow, this really needs to come alive again <_<;

Yeah, this club needs to live again. Besides, there's a whole lot of stuff we need to discuss regarding Samurai Champloo, Paranoia Agent, and s-CRY-ed. Let's discuss, darn it!

I know, we've had two new episodes of Paranoia Agent and s-CRY-ed since any discussion happened. This club has missed out on a lot of important details of both stories.

Eh My school starts tommorow and I've to go to sleep early so I've missed out on alot of PA and SCE episodes. Did AS stop airing new episodes of Samurai Champloo lately?

[as] Did indeed stop airing new Samurai Champloo episodes. As far as I know it should be back in November, about the time that s-CRY-ed ends.

At this rate, s-CRY-ed is already half-done, I think, and Paranoia Agent's just about to end.
So what happened? Straight Cougar mutinied and helped Mimori escape, Kimishima died, Detective Ikari's wife managed to face Lil' Slugger and survive, we finally found out what happened to Maniwha, and so on and so forth.

Yes, concisely, that's exactly what happened in the past two weeks. I doubt I could add anything pertinent to what you said.
Terrible shame about Kimishima, I was just beginning to like him.

There were also a bunch of other small things that happened over the past two weeks (Asuka's fate after leaving HOLY, Kanami finding out the truth about Kazuma, Detective Ikari getting trapped in that fantasy world, et cetera).
And yeah, why'd Kimishima have to die?! They could've killed off somebody else, like, say, Emergy Maxfell or some other HOLY member. Why Kimishima, man?
Just what kind of a name is "Radar Man" for a superhero, anyway?
Chairman Kaga
August 15th, 2005, 11:50 PM
"Radar Man" is a terrible name; but apparently it's what he identifies with, though his deductions regarding the mystery of Shounen Bat had very little to do with any of his radar devices. Even "Pinch Crusher" is a better name than "Radar Man" (yes, two different animes, but the point remains the same)
It's definitely time for a HOLY member to die, as they haven't suffered at all during the course of the show. Emergy Maxfell would make a good choice, and though I would wish death on Ryuho more than anyone, unfortunately if that is going to happen it will be at the climax at the series.

So, the last episode of Paranoia Agent aired last night. I suppose we ought to take this time to discuss our opinions on the show as a whole now that we've seen it all, or just thoughts on the last episode if you wish.
(s-CRY-ed discussion still welcome)

Okay I'm here. That was great last night. Paranoia Agent was really good but gory when the little dog was ran over...**** Miromi...I told you guys and long time ago my theory was that Mimori was evil right?
And s-CRY-ed was awesome....especially that black thunder like alter user.

Paranoia Agent was just as surreal and weird as ever, what with the fantasy worlds, masses of weird black goo, and evil plushies. I also noticed the distinct lack of actual Lil' Slugger.
As for s-CRY-ed, well...Kazuma's gone nuts, that's all I have to say.

Ha. Gone nuts thats nothing if you think that bad Jack wait till you see his real full alter power. so far I think that one he used last night was like maybe 40 % of his full alter power.

I meant gone nuts as in mental instability, Kratos. He was talking to Kimishima's corpse, he went on that rampage, he nearly killed Scheris... Normal people don't go berzerk and attempt to speak with the dead, you know. Kinda like Tsukiko when Maromi got run over, only much more violent.

I know what you meant when he you say he's gone nuts he's still gonna go more insane....

Now we're all finally starting to see why s-CRY-ed is on adult swim and not toonami. I have a feeling that Kazuma is going to lead a long trail of blood because of Kimishima's death.
Does anyone else have a bad feeling Kaname is going to die?
Paranoia Agent was abstract and cryptic to the last. I found it unfortunate that the solution to the problem was not as amazing and fascinating as the problem itself...having Tsukiko confront her past in order to destroy Lil' Slugger, and that he was a physical product of her own mind instead of a creation of mass hysteria or an independent being. The devastation at the end of the show didn't do much for me either; it almost felt like they couldn't find a way to end it so they decided to destroy Tokyo.
...the show had its ups and downs, but despite the confusing and often pointless meanderings in the plot, it was still a great series.

Yeah, I'm also starting to see why s-CRY-ed's on Adult Swim instead of Toonami. Kimishima's death has set into motion a rather bloody series of events that will result in either Kazuma's own death or the destruction of HOLY. Hopefully, Kanami will be spared from all the carnage.
We all know Ryuho is a living, breathing bag of filth, but assaulting Kanami is perhaps a new all-time low for him. Even that guy with the watermelons (I think his name's Urizane) had his reservations about doing such a thing to Kanami, and he's one of the more violent HOLY members, from what I've seen.
By the way, Straight Cougar mispronounced Kazuma's name. He said "Kazuya." Looks like Mimori's name isn't the only one he has trouble remembering...
