actually i have a personal hatred towards the dub Cardcaptors, me being a big Cardcaptor Sakura fan (Digi is known for having CCS or Tsubasa S+S siggy layouts XD)

I could rant on and on and on about how suckily Nelvana screwed up CCS...but i won't at the time, but meh that's how i got into the subbed versions of anime

you may have noticed, but i have Sakura as my Bishie and S+S as my couple XP XD

I didn't find the dub that bad..perhaps they did change alot...

It's funny... I remember looking on the internet and finding people complaining how they changed the theme song..

Which confused me.. since in Australia when Cardcaptors aired.. the beggining theme song was the English version of Catchyoucatchme, so i really didn't know what they were talking about...

I liked Cardcaptors overall even with the dub, I'd like to see more of it but I don't know when I will...funny thing is I liked the dub into of Sailor Moon too...

I have never actually seen the original version of Card Captors, only the dub, which I like alot. But I know that original was way as that is usually the case... Anyways, I was just wondering what the main difference between the North American Dub and the Japanese original?

CCS is one of my favorite series, and one of the few ones that I actually like the anime more then the manga, despite the god awful dub. All of the episodes where she captures the cards are so cute and done well, my favorite is the one where she captures watery~ <3

hmmm...probably the part where they skipped around episodes, cut out all romance(S+S), change all the school girls into valley girl, and so on(the traditional dubbing stuff)

and it pretty much stays this way until the Sakura Cards arc where they plant random flashbacks from the epis they missed

Well, they skipped around to give Syaoran equal spot light to try and attract more male viewers. And the valley-girls in Cardcaptors aren’t half as bad as some of the characters in newer dubs. ~_~

well, it IS a tradition for dubs that all girls attending school are valley girl(of course there are a few exceptions)

but no romance >< XD even changed the epi where Syaoran and Sakura almost kissed into a review of how Sakura became a cardcaptor

Anywho, I've never seen the dub, but from what I've heard of it... Eek. o.o; Personally, I like CCS > Tsubasa, and CCS Manga > CCS Anime. xD;;; Well, I like the extra plot fillers. The manga explains more on why the Clow cards were in Sakura's basement. xD;

1. I've always loved magical girl series and I heard about it..tried it, loved it! I also love CLAMP's animation. It's so detailed!

3. I really don't know much about Madison cause she wasn't in the manga..When I first saw her...It sorta made me feel bad..Don't know why..

Heh, that series goes way back to when I was first into Pokemon. Cardcaptors was the first series that I got into from the start that wasn't Pokemon. Back in those days, I didn't know what anime was or had a clue it came from Japan. I knew that the shows with the girls with the pretty eyes and nice hair were good for watching.
I currently have manga one and two and despise Nelvana's murdering to the dub when I saw some subbed clips. Though I will never be able to like that song Catch you Catch me. The only thing I liked about the dub was the opening song.
btw, my favorite character is that girl with the red hair who tries to hit on Sakura's brother. Then my next favorite is Sakura.

Cardcaptors is okay to me even though I haven't seen it in a while. Most shows I see are pretty good, some are just lame though to me if they are like about transforming dragons that turn into robots 0.o'

she basically just the friend...no real purpose, however, in the Sakura Video Diary 1, it seems Tomoyo was the one who taped Sakura and "made" the series CCS XD she also "directed" the "Kero's Corner" set of shorts, and she supplies Sakura with all the costumes she wears XD

Whatever happened to WB bringing the CardCaptor Sakura movie over here and releasing it in theaters? Did they release it under the radar, or was it canceled?

They were never going to release it like that. The dub movie one came out straight to DVD, and then a few years later since Nelvana had lost the rights to the show, Pioneer dubbed the second movie.

Pretty much the main reason Nelvana didn't dub the 2nd movie is because that movie primarily focuses on S+S(Sakura x Syaoran), which Nelvana eliminated completely from the series anyways. As i hear from blue, the dub 2nd movie turned out really good

That's some rather interesting information... but I feel that it is a shame that Nelvana cut out Sakura x Syaoran from the series... they seemed to be such a cute couple (I know this since I have been reading the manga)

But I would have loved to see the second movie... I have heard that its supposed to be very good... but I wonder what the dub version of the 1st movie was like... cause I have only seen that movie in Japanese and even so, I didn't like it much... =(

I'd be happy to talk about Cardcaptors. Well, in comparison to Card Captor Sakura, anyway. The only reason I got the dub was so I could compare it with the Japanese version. God... Utter crap... It's gotta' be even worse than Dragon Ball Z and One Piece. "Err! Darn it! I can't seal this card! I'll have to think of something fast! ... That's it!". "Oh, I'd rather ride 100 miles with Li Showron than attend the 360s, maybe we should just study...". "We can't blow up the Clock Tower! Someone might get hurt!". Jeez...

Well, the first thing Nelvana did to Card Captor Sakura was changed its name to "Cardcaptors". Why? I have no idea. Sometimes it's safer not to ask questions. The second thing they did was screw with the character's personalities. Sakura-chan is a complete brat in the dub, Shaoran (Showron?) is a stuck-up, insulting bully, and Tomoyo (Madison...?) is a spoiled little moron. And their voices were... Err... And the actors are... Err... And the storyline is... Err... Anyway, let's move on.

The starting credits are... How should I put this? In both versions of "Catch you, catch me", they show more or less the same pictures. However, they change the words a lot. The images make a lot of sense in the Japanese version, but in the English version, they make no sense whatsoever. Also, you can tell by one listen of the dub song that very little thought was put into it.

That song was utter crap. The tune was all it had, and that was from the Japanese version, anyway.

And all the humor they used in CCS was taken out, of cause. Can I just ask: what is so bad about this scene?:

Sakura: Yukito, will you do my hair for me?

Yukito: Sure, Sakura-chan!

Sakura: *Walking along with her hair looking no different* Wow! Yukito-san really did a great job with my hair! ^_^

The first movie was dubbed in English, but it was given the same dub that the series had. The second movie actually had a good cast, kept all original names, kept all the music, and was uncut, would have been great if the entire thing could have been dubbed like that in English.

Cardcaptor Sakura is a great series, but the dubbers killed it. It's nearly worse then Sailor Moon. Nearly. Every anime fan knows that no other anime was every killed in such a grusome way as Sailor Moon.

I'm a SakuraxTomoyo fan. Heh!

You're right, the dubbers did pretty much kill it. It was alright when I watched it a few years ago, but I've spent the last week watching the subs (almost done! Only about 10 eps to go) and they just changed so much! Like, I'm sure that they took LixYukito out of the dub, and stuff like that. I still support SakuraxSyaoran though XD.
