Can't decide on colors for my site...

I'm trying to figure out some good dark colors that go together. I'm thinking Black and Purple\Indigo, but not too sure on it.

I'll be using the same basic layout for my site, TeraDyne's Lair (http://shawnofgcfc.coolfreepages.com/), but with different colors and images. When I get a good screenshot of the Chakram from Xena: Warrior Princess season 6, I'll be using that as the opening\closing areas for the banner and nav links. Thankfully, my good friend Discord_Man knows a lot of people who might know where to get the shot.

So, any ideas?

It really just depends on what sort of "feel" you want your visitors to have when they're at your website. If your site is kind of an "XD we're all crazy" site, use lighter colors and playful-looking fonts. If you want your site to seem kind of "dark", use blacks/dark blues. I usually don't like having black background because it tends to throw people off, but if done correctly it can look very nice ^^. Just go with what you think will represent the theme for your site the best :3

Mine's more of a dark\"we're all crazy" hybrid. I think the new animutation over at ABS finally killed my brain's "serious" area.

Anyway, I know Pokemon Nightmare and Gengar and Haunter's Pokemon Dungeon have good layouts that are dark.

... I dunno... maybe both dark and light colors. Hmm... Maybe I'll get an idea while I'm off getting groceries. X_X;

Ha, mine's like that too. In that case, you could probably go both ways. The dark/light idea sounds pretty cool :3 The dark layout with the craptacular/graffiti/vitamin/comic sans fonts work really well with sites like that too.

It looks very nice, only I'd probably try to change the banner so it matches the navbar or vice versa ^^;

I think you should revamp your whole layout. The banner doesn't go much with the layout, & it doesn't scream out Pokemon.

Yeah, if you'll look at the Graphics and Photography board, you'll see that I've requested a new banner.

As for revanping the whole layout, I may make one once I get more knowledge with CSS. Right now, I'm trying to "re-learn" XHTML, meaning I've forgotten some things. XD

I'd say your on the right track as far as the whole design goes. The banner could use soem work, but if you get one that matches your black/purple color scheme it won't look half bad ;)

EDIT: Your site seems to be a pretty big one. To make thing easier to keep updated, I recommend you try an SSI layout. There's a nice tutorial on it here (http://marillsworld.com/websitetips.shtml) :)
