So what your saying is that it's like a wall that looks like grass?Essentially. It's made up of the same stuff as the black border you see in buildings.

Have the walk through walls code off for now. When you enter viridian city (from pallet town), as soon as you hear the music change tracks, go five paces forward, and then go left till you can't go any further. then hit down once, turn on the WTW code, and go through the fence to the south, head through some trees which will soon be grass. Keep going further into the grass, and route 1 music will play. You will even encounter some route 1 pokemon. Go even further, and you will hear pallet town music. When you hear pallet town music playing, head left for a bit, and you should see a portion of P. Town. Don't bother going into the houses though. You won't be able to anyway.

Here is a way to enter the grass safely but it mucks up after a while. It converts the grass into the route 1 grass tiles. Pallet town is also split in two.

I have tried the glitch when you get stuck in the lab building. When you walk into the grass and the prof comes if there is someone in the way you cannot follow the prof behind him and instead of walking into the lab you get stuck and you have to reset the game since you can't do anything. It's had to get that person standing there in the way though since they walk randomly.
I wonder if the Mew glitch can cause any harm to your game. I have caught a mew in green version, I trained it a little and then I hadn't played for awhile. When I started the game it said Fail Data something and the save file was gone. I do not think it was the mew glitch though, there was another reason.

no worries, assuming you used a regular Mew glitch and not a gameshark/cheating device code, your game cannot be messed up by it. this glitch is actually programmed in, not a folly of lack of programming, so they left it harmless.

Yes, you're right. Satoshi Tajiri put Mew there intentionally. I don't think the glitch caused the save file to dissapear either.

(I can read your signatur, AdvancedK9) :-)

Te-em is right. I'm not talking about the missingno. cheat. i'm talking about the Mew cheat, the one flying between Lavender and Cerulean City. Tajiri put that in intentionally for Mew, and it was only meant for Mew. the missingno. cheat is a complete fluke because they forgot to program which pokemon you can run into on that area of shoreline.

my missingnos do that. it's quite strange, seeing the highest number of health being H256.

It sad that Celebe is so hard to get. You need pkmn Crystal and connect it to a cell phone. Those who released the american version did not want this so it only works at the japanese version. Is there some other way, a glitch or something, to obtain Celebe?

Te-em is right. I'm not talking about the missingno. cheat. i'm talking about the Mew cheat, the one flying between Lavender and Cerulean City. Tajiri put that in intentionally for Mew, and it was only meant for Mew. the missingno. cheat is a complete fluke because they forgot to program which pokemon you can run into on that area of shoreline.I wasn't talking about Missingno. either. The "Mew glitch" can be used for any Pokemon, not just Mew -- what it does is shift some bytes in the RAM, so the species byte is set to what the Special stat was for the last Pokemon you fought. This is why fighting any Pokemon with a Special stat of exactly 23 (such as the Slowpoke trainer north of Cerulean) gives you Mew -- because in the programming, Mew is the 23rd Pokemon programmed in. The level of the Pokemon is also set by the Attack modifier (not the stat) of the opponent -- if it used Swords Dance once, it would be level 9, and if you used Growl three times on it, it would be level 4. It's a glitch, and wasn't put in there intentionally.

The Missingno. glitch is a fluke because the wild Pokemon data is blank for the area of the shoreline, and the Mew glitch is a fluke because using Fly at the specific moment interrupts the trainer script and causes it to do glitchy things.

But people went crazy when they heard there was a 151 pkmn. So there had to be a Mew in the game. Only Tajiri and those who programmed knew it though.

But people went crazy when they heard there was a 151 pkmn. So there had to be a Mew in the game. Only Tajiri and those who programmed knew it though.Programming a Pokemon into the game and programming an encounter of a Pokemon into the game are two very, very different things.

It's true that Mew does exist in the game. However, Oddish also exists in Blue, even though he can only be caught in Red.

151 Pokemon were programmed into the game from the beginning, but not all were obtainable. Mew was the only Pokemon who was totally unobtainable -- he existed, but there was no way to catch him.

Remember when Ruby and Sapphire came out? You could only capture 200 Pokemon total, between the two games. Some people thought that the other Pokemon didn't exist any more -- but in reality, the other Pokemon do exist in Ruby and Sapphire (it's why you can trade them to R/S). It' just totally impossible to catch them in it.

The existence of a Pokemon in the game named Mew with its own level-up moves and Pokedex entry was intentional, but the glitch that allows you to encounter Mew was unintentional, an error in the programming.

Yes, I have seen that in my Pokémon Guide. Some Pokémon is there, said to be in the game, but the guide says their not available and their is no information (stats and such) about them.

By the way, I have heard you cannot trade between the japanese and american version of the games so I tested to be sure. I had a jp silver and an us gold and I was let into the trading room! But when I was about to trade a text said in the us version: 'Your friend's ??????? seems to be abnormal. Sorry, but the trade is canceled.'
Ok, I thought. You cannot trade. So I was about to cancel, but when the arrow you choose Pokémon or cancel with did not work (in the us verison) as it should have. Instead of the arrow appear before the 'C' in Cancel, it appeared in place of the 'e'. I pushed the A button an data on this Pokémon appeared:

(a Mewtwo sprite) No.150 L.253
/Mewtwo
(a HP meter that is half and yellow)
A21/A21
Status:Pokérus
Exp. 213954
Level up 6269876
To 254
(the exp meter is full)
Item: Star piece (don't know what that is)
Sky Attack PP:0/5
Transform PP:0/40
Petal Dance PP:0/20
Petal Dance PP:61/32
IDno. 20640
OT/?
(And each of its stats is A21)

I was named Satoshi in both verisons, but the jp said the friend was suriiputekumo (sleeptecmo maybe) and the us said the friend was KTL. In the US you could not see the friend's pkmn, but in the japanese the friend had (which I did no thave):

No.006 Teatosoteku/Rizaadon(Charizard in the US) Lv.0
HP: 0/(some strange symbol)48
Exp. 5111808
665354
Lv.1 (full exp meter)
Reitoupanchi PP:13/21
Atk:0
Def:(a strange symbol)44
SPCL. Atk:(other strange symbol)96
SPCL. Def:(other strange symbol)96
SP:(strange symbol)44

There was also a Zubat (which I had) but this one was strange.
Also 3 ??????. One had the attack Hasamu PP16/30, the other had Tsubasadeutsu (wing attack) PP16/35, the third Kaminaripanchi PP:7/24

At the US version, in the empty list od friend's pkmn you could find these:

Lv.153
78/Nidorino
HP: (full meter)-52/ö37
Status: BRN Item: Charcoal
(its techniques:)Spore, Poison Gas, Petal Dance, Petal Dance
Atk:149
Def:;79
SPCL. Atk:I01
SPCL. Def:ä60
SP:ö23

No.00 L.0
777777777777777777777777777777778
(The info about this pkmn changes from)
Status: FNT
Type: Steel
(to)
Status: Steel
(and then to strange symbols)

Again in the jp verison:

/Yadoran

(no attack here) PP:10/67
Haganenotsubasa (metal wing) PP:63/28
Daatarukoudoru PP:48/24

US version: (a sprite of Hanekko/Hopip, which I have at the jp verison) L.0
77777777777777777777777777777/Hoppip
HP: (full meter) 60/60
Status:PSN
Item:SlowPokeTail
Confusion PP:0/25
OT/;J
Atk:60
Def:28
SPCL. Atk:0
SPCL. Def:0
SP:60

There was also a strange Haunter, Lv.0 with a SlowpokeTail and OT/mj

It's a very strange and funny glitch when you try to trade betwen two non-compatible games. I wanted to see what happened if you started a Pokémon battle:

US version: you encounter ! (a mewtwo sprite)
JP version: you encounter (a sprite of Sakaki) He sends out an Arboc.

The next time I tried, Sakaki in the US version send out himself, called '!'
Unfortunatley the game froze before the battle started.

So, this is what happens if you try to trade/battle bewteen the US and JP versions of the games. No effects on the games afterwards though that I have seen.

I had this strnge glitch in silver from when I used to mess with it on my exploder like a year ago. Nothing was strange at first but I found this glitchy load of repels so I used one, then 99 items appeared aout of nowhere and changed each time I usedor gained a repel. But the problem was that I needed a certain item but couldn't pick anyhting up due to my bag having millions of weird items in that I couldn't delete and I couldn't get enough repels to get the item to appear. Not sure whether I started a new game or not now :)

I used a glitched I saw on the Internet. It's like the Mew Glitch but you have to do it before the first Gym. I tried it at Yellow Version and got a Nidoking at Lv. 1. When it leveled up it was at Lv. 100. I think it's right that the Lv. 100 gains more stats for their EV; I just let it fight a few battles, dumped it in the PC and suddenly all its stats rose by 3. Also, since this is an old game Pokémon get even more stats (I think)
There was soemthing strange with this Lv.1-Pokémon-glitch though. When encountering Mew your start menu pops up. I don't remember if it did that this time when I found the Nidoking, but instead there was a text saying something like: "Hello! You got a Pikachuu with you?" The next time I tried, with Pikachuu not as no. 1 in party it said something about "there is no Pikachuu". I think there is only a text appearing in Yellow Version though. The glitch on the Internet was not the Pikachuu Edition.

I have a glitch of a Mew in Red, Blue and Yellow and it really works.
Honest!
Somehow, I don't think that its a glitch but its more like a cheat.
That Mew, can be caught in Nugget Bridge in Level 7.

I know. You can use the cheat in another place too. The cause of this glitch or cheat is that all Trainers in the old games (even youself when you start the game) will always be looking south. So when you walk until a Trainer is visible, it will be looking down, but may turn swiftly another way. If you walks in front of such a Trainer, as long as you walk the up, left or right side you have a chance to access the menu before the Trainer can challenge you (since he/she has to turn around). You can use an item or Pokémon to leave the place where the Trainer is. He/she will see you but has no time to reach you before you escape.
One way to get Mew you have to do this with a gambler at the end of route(I don't remeber the name).
Afterwards you cannot use any buttons but those used for walking around. You have to talk to someone, let them see you so that you can talk to them. In the Mew Glitch you have to let a Trainer efter Nugget Bridge challenge you. In the glicth about Lv.1 Nidoking, you have to let the man outside the city see you and lead you to the gym, then you have to battle a wild Pokémon.
Depending on what Pokémon you encounter and what attacks you use, the glitched Pokémon spieces and Lv will change (at Nugget bridge I think its your or battled pokemon's Spec. stat that will affect this, I'm not sure). To encounter the glitch Pokémon, walk to the place where you escaped from that Trainer.

I also encountered a Lv. 7 Mew, but I will try to use Growl six times during the last battle, and maybe it will be a Lv.1 Mew (which will level up to Lv. 100)

Do you know if the Truck Cheat works? I know someone who said it did, but once you pushed the truck the wrong way you had to reset and start over. Which way to push the truck was different every time.

>Bent<
May 31st, 2007, 07:36 PM
Any cheat involving the truck is completely false. The truck does nothing, ever.

And yes, the "Mew cheat" is a glitch and not a cheat, if we want to go into definitions...

Ah...the days of glitches everywhere, I ran into something one tiem really wierd in my blue version, i had just gotten surf and went south of Fuschia City to fight a swimmer, he had a Horsea and I had a Venusaur, well I used Razor Leaf and the Horsea's bar just kept depleting over and over...well after about 2 minutes it fainted and the battle was over, though I'm pretty sure he had more pokemon, I didn't think much of it so I started surfing south and fought a few normal tentacools. Everything seemed ok until I ran into a Mr. Mime. I fought it, caught it, and kept going. I was like awesome...til I ran into a swimmer that glitched up and froze my game...not sure what caused it. Just one of my memories of Blue Version that stands out the most.

A couple years ago I was playing my red version. I had just caught Mewtwo and I was on my way out of the cave. I got to a narrow pass between rocks and I realized that I had better save the game... I think that was it anyway (it's been quite a while). Well, after the menu closed, I was standing on top of the rocks instead of between them... I couldn't move. I turned the game on and off, but it was no good... It was saved on top of the rocks. I didn't have anything that could let me escape like Teleport or Dig... so I was practically forced to reset my game.

Onr thing that happened to me was on red version(used) I had a mew and charizard both in the lvl 70s the charizard wouldnt listen to my comands. But anyway they had yet to obtain the celedon city badge or do any of the events so I got the badge and went to take out the rockets. When I got to the guy who drops the lift key It said i had a full inventory but I noticed the razorwind i believe is the TM on the other side and sucessfully got it no problem and then I tried to toss an item to get the lift key but for some odd reason I had the item POKEDEX in my bag and um it glitched up but also after I tried to start the game up again I couldnt exit up the stairs so I was stuck down there. I ended up having to reset my game.

Just a hint for the Mew and Missingno glitch:

Mew is harmless to the game, UNLESS, you stuff up the proccess of getting it! Your game could freeze unless you do it properly, trust me!

And with the Missingno: It's a testing progamme that the gamers forgot to remove from the games. It's said to be dangerous if you decide to catch it... so don't ;P I haven't been able to find it as yet, but I shall soon enough ^_^

Missing No. isn't a testing program. It's just a glitch. It's a pokemon that was never created. There are 255 pokemon slots and only 151 pokemon. Missing No. is basically just junk data filling those spots.

In the japanese version of crystal, you could connect your game to a cell phone to chat, trade and battle wifi-like. Doing something, you could get a GS ball. And the Unown trick sounds plain stupid, but I have all the unowns in my crystal version. I'm going to try it, but it sounds absolutely stupid.
EDIT: What I'm supposed to do? Wander aimlessly? Because nothing has happened. Do I have to go to somewhere?

I once had a Magikarp on my Yellow that had infinite HP (no gameshark). When I put it in Pokémon Stadium, it turned into a Hitmonlee. To this day, I still have a Hitmonlee who only knows Splash! :D I think I must have got some dust or something in the cartridge...

There is that one stupid "Flootenkerp" glitch (Silver/Gold). You have to go to the spot your rival was at in the begining of the game and press the a button three times. Then go to the first patch of grass and search for like thirty minutes, a pokemon that is a Mewtwo Pikachu mix will appear. I seriously doubt this actually works, though.

Also, I loaded a level 0 Missingno on to my pokemon stadium, and it registered as a level 100 ditto. Pretty weird... o_O;

This isn't the mew glitch directly, but I ran into a lv.7 MissingNO. failing to do the glitch correctly several times. Plus, i once had a Lv. 255.Mr.Mime. How you ask? Well, I caught a glitch Abra(over lv.100)on the coast of Cinnabar island. I then traded it to the kid in the house south of Pewter that want to trade his Mr.Mime for an Abra. Since the pokemon you get in a trade with a cpu. in R/B/Y are the same Lv. of the pokemon you give, the Mr.Mime I got's Lv. was above 100. Soooooo.... from there, i just rare candied it to Lv.255.(if it goes any higher, it'll go back to 0):P

I've read on numerous websites that if you do the Mew Glitch and replace the Youngster with the lvl. 17 Slowpoke with another trainer (that walks up to you), you'll get other Pokemon. You can try this with different trainers and there is a possibility that you can get Pokemon that evolve by trade like Machamp and Gengar as well as the legendaries. Also, this is the only way you can get Missingno in Yellow version.

Not exactly. Talking with the old man caused Missingno and 'M appear in the Cinnabar coast, and, if you encounter one, the sixth item in your bag (be a rare candy or the bicycle) will be multiplied x 128.

OK, I have a really weird problem that has plagued all my 1st gen. Pokemon games since I first started playing them...

I stick a whole lot of Pogies in a box for an extended period of time and occaisionally one of them seems to "disappear." I didn't realease them or anything, they just disappear. I remember catching a Gastly and training it to a Haunter. Then I stuck it in one of my boxes and left it there. When I came back to train it a little more, it turns out it disappeared.

This often happens when I leave either a Beedrill or a Haunter in the PC for too long, however there was one time when all my Pokemon in Yellow were mysteriously released except for the Abra I was carrying. This problem seems to only affect my 1st gen. Pokemon games. All the later generations worked fine.

I'm not sure if anybody else has this strange problem with their Pokemon games though.

Do you remember a fake Dark Lugia from Gold? Yeah, surely you do. But nobody said it's 100% fake... Some gameshark codes and poof! - almost you've got it. But I say - ALMOST.
Just all you need is to combine two gameshark codes: 00FCEDD0 (for PkMn 252) and 00F9EDD0 (for Lugia).
Also I've heard about Light Ho-Oh, an alternative for DL. Codes: 00FEEDD0 (PkMn 254) and 00FAEDD0 (Ho-Oh).
You have to turn them on and off during the battle and catching. Try it, effects are funny ^^

What you can not understand? i will try next time to explain it better...(if i can)!

However yes you can find glitch trainers without using GS/AR.It 's easy by doing the Missing number glitch and a strange name with numbers, words such as pkmn, symbols question mark male, female symbols.Try it!

i love this thread but i got more than one glitch once i found a missingno. in Red and it actually had a cry it buzzed beeped then did a distorted zapdos cry than my game went bilastic (sp?) glitch blocks lined my screen as it played pokemon tower music and then the message box at the bottom kept saying "you caught VILEPLUME! Would you like to nickname it?" i said yes and my game reseted... I was bursting into laughter at the end.

CRYSTAL glitch:
I traded a Missingno. over to crystal i think it said it was abnormal but the trade went through and it was holding an item called ????? then my friend told me thats known as surfboard an item that lets u surf w/o pokemon. so i used it but it didnt surf i encounterd a level 0 ????? Crystals own little missingno. It knew tackle a blank move with the type dragon and a whole bunch of random letters. When i use it in battle it says come out [6th pokemon in my partys name] then it freezes. If aanyone else encounters one of these glitches plz tell me.

I have a question. Have any of you battled the same trainer twice, not including the Elite Four?
I battled this weak Lass and killed her, but then the battle music started playing again and I had to battle her again. There wasn't anything really glitchy about her pokemon. They were the same as last time, with full health, and I gained exp points the same way too. But what did I do to trigger this?

omfx___harley
September 24th, 2007, 12:15 PM
That does happen. It's completely random, but occasionally, i'll be fighting a youngster or swimmer or something and the music changes to Lance's music and its all like huh? I think if you go really fast in killing a weak trainer, the game assumes that you have not battled the trainer yet and sends you right back in.

Heres a Yellow glitch; No idea if it will work every time, but wth.

In the Pewter Pokemon center, make sure you have Pikachu with you. With the man near the PC Box in the center, place yourself to have a space between Pikachu and the Trade Link person, and have your sprite character be under Pikachu's sprite.
Wait till the guy comes to you, and talk to him. Once he is done talking, walk upwards, and the guy will side step to be in front of your sprite.

I think i know why the Wild Missingno. did a distorted Zapdos cry. Well before that I was in a link battle Zapdos vs. Vileplume and then i unpluged cable during battle then The screen filled with 9's and then i left and I saved it so it made Zapdos cry but thought i caught a Vileplume. Im not sure if im correct but it sounds like it would make sense.

To skip the first gym on RBY:
Save your game in case you mess up
Walk up to the kid who drags you to the gym
As soon as he says "follow me!" hit start
Save your game and turn it off
When you turn it on, he will speak again, then walk towards the gym funny (going through houses, people, etc) and still drag you but you won't be able to follow him
Now you can walk down route 4 without beating Brock!

I dont know if this is a glitch, it happened ages ago.

If I remember rightly, I was in the Poké Center in Celadon on Red Version, meaning most of the surroundings were reddish in colour. I walked out and everythin was now a blueish tinge, the same as the one on my brothers blue version. I went back in Rocket HQ where i was heading, but it stayed blueish. After saving, then resetting, it went back to the red colour.

I was on a Gameboy Colour, and it just wierdly happened. Happened to anyone else, probably has...

I definitely know i didnt do that, because the game was on. I didnt save, reset or anything, just exited the PokéCenter and all of a sudden, bam. I had the GBC on a battery pack, plugged into the wall, if i remember rightly. When it happened i thought i had broke my game! The naivety.

There might be a minor detail ive missed but unless someone knows WHY it happens, i wouldnt be able to remember, really.

but here is the SS ANNE glitch, how to get back on the SS ANNE

once the ss anne has set sail you actually CAN get back on it

1. try to enter the ss anne, the man will tell you it set sail and push you back.
2. move to the right facing the water and press START right away...i mean RIGHT AWAY.
3. now save and then restart your game
4. you will still be facing the water and now surf.
5. you will now be surfing on the man, surf down and now you can get on the ss anne

I'd like some verification on this.

A friend of mine (who I know personally IRL) was in the Safari Zone when he met a Chansey that no matter what he couldn't catch. After using up all his balls (oh, stop it) he was forced to leave, but instead of appearing outside the SZ, he was in what looked like Glitch City, and there was a YES/NO box. He clicked on YES, and then the screen flashed and he was back at his house. When he checked his Pokemon, he had all MissingNos, except for the first one which was a Mew.

Has anyone else had this happen before? I never saw it myself, but I've been going through the same procedures, and I've come across some interesting results, so I don't doubt it's possibility.

It's not as much a glitch as much as an error caused by sharking, but i found it today in Pokemon Brown, though since it is a hack of red, i'll assume it works in as well.

make sure you have the face lv 99 (or whatever number) enemies gameshark code in.

Go into battle with the code off.

Defeat the enemy, as their health bar drains to zero, but before the game tells you that it faints (while the enemy is still on the screen), turn the code on.

When you recieve experience it will say you leveled up to 99, but when you check your pokemon in the pause menu, your level is the same, but your stats are suped up.

Haven't experimented with it much, nor did i continue the game after that (i restarted it without saving).

I guess its helpful, but use at your own discrecion doods.

This is exactly what my friend just told me.

"something is totally wrong with my yellow version.
i was in victory road, when i climbed the ladder
once i got to the other floor, the start menu came up.
i thought it was a little strange, but ignored it.
but once i closed the menu
a Lv.7 staryu attacked, a staryu in victory road!"

heres how i caught mew (two of them actually) on blue version.

To acquire Mew at the earliest point possible in the game, one must not have defeated the Youngster with the Lv. 17 Slowpoke on Route 25 (The glitch also works with the Swimmer♂ in Cerulean Gym, meaning two Mews are avaliable) or the Junior Trainer (the one who says "I saw your feat from the grass" when you begin a battle with him) on Route 24 in the grass. It is prudent to save before doing this. Defeat Nugget Bridge as per the usual, battling your way to the Youngster but do not engage a battle with him.
Make sure you have lots of Pokéballs before attempting this glitch.
Return to Route 24 and catch or trade over an Abra. Place the Abra in your party if it isn't, then return to Route 24 if you were not there already. Stand in front of the Junior Trainer, but out of range of his sight. Move down until he sees you, but when he does, immediately press START. Then use Teleport with your new Abra. If done correctly, the trainer should get the indicative exclamation mark as you Teleport.
Notice your menu will not work. Head North towards Route 25 to the Youngster and battle him. Do not battle anything or anyone else or talk to anyone before you do. This includes the Youngster. You must engage in battle by him seeing you, not by walking towards him, as walking towards him will cause the game to freeze.
After defeating the Youngster, walk towards Cerulean City. After a small amount of steps, your start menu should appear. Press the B button and you should begin a battle against a Lv. 7 Mew, which is not difficult to catch.
If used on other trainers other than the Youngster It will often be a different Pokémon (depending on trainer's Pokémon's Special stat), e.g. the Lass below the Youngster will result in a Lapras, which is normally only avaliable at Silph Co.

i got this from bulbapedia.

I once tried to do the Mew Glitch in Yellow, but since I already beat the youngster and the old guy in front of that house, so I tried other trainers. The game froze and crashed several times, and somehow, that caused one of the motors in my GBASP to ''die'', so I was only able to play GB/GBC games.

Three months later, I got pissed at my GBASP, and I smacked it into a wall. After that, it worked again.

Weird.

One time my brother's gameboy SP wouldn't play GBA games and only GB and GBC games. He got a new SP about a year later, and then I found his old SP. I told him, and he told me that it didn't work, so I stuck my FireRed version in it, and it started working again.

I'm not sure if this is a real glitch, but today I restarted my pokemon red game. I caught a metapod and it made the sound of a gastly. When I turned the game back on it was normal again. Has this ever happened to any of you?

Maybe your game is just like that because it's old. My friend was playing her Yellow version, and a Level 7 Staryu appeared at Victory Road(see my previous post). Another time she was in Pallet Town in her Yellow version, and this person started sliding to the side (no, they didn't walk, they slid), so I'm guessing it's like that because it's old.
My cousin's Pokemon Silver and my friend's Pokemon Crystal would always delete any saved data whenever you turned the game off, but that's because it's old.

I restarted my Emerald yesterday and when I got out of the truck at the beginning I was teleported to a house in Petalburg...might be because I had my AR on with the walk through walls thing (so I can get a custom starter..wee!) but I dont think that would teleport me to the same house over and over again would it?

Found this one myself:

1. Deposit the key to the cinnabar gym.
2. Surf along the area between land and water on the right side of the island upwards 'til you reach the square before the gym.
3. Walk left until you are in front of the Gym door and when the locked door message comes up you will see an old man standing on the roof.
4. When the message window close and you step away from the door you will notice the old man back on the ground again.

Not able to confirm how this happens but whatever:
My sister occasionally caught pre-nicknamed pokemon in the power plant on her red version.

My cousin's Pokemon Silver and my friend's Pokemon Crystal would always delete any saved data whenever you turned the game off, but that's because it's old.
Sounds like they need new internal batteries.

i dont fell like reading this whole thing
but here is the SS ANNE glitch, how to get back on the SS ANNE

once the ss anne has set sail you actually CAN get back on it

1. try to enter the ss anne, the man will tell you it set sail and push you back.
2. move to the right facing the water and press START right away...i mean RIGHT AWAY.
3. now save and then restart your game
4. you will still be facing the water and now surf.
5. you will now be surfing on the man, surf down and now you can get on the ss anne
Another way is to never get the Cut HM and just trade over a pokemon that has Cut.

Either that or just lose in the SS Anne after you get Cut. Unfortunately- it won't work in FRLG.

i found a glitch city without the use of the safari! you kinda need walk through walls...but oh well! fly to saffron with walk through walls on. at the pokecenter dont go in but go 2 spaces to the left. head downwards and dont change course. the first bit is a ghost town with 2 houses and a pokecenter. do not stop heading south! if you explore it the games crashes. keep heading south until you find a glitchy place. you cant explore but its quite cool. you can do the same thing in a few cities. go to the pokeleague in indigo platue and before moving move left twice and head down. (its a quite strange way of getting a glitch).

Thats the MissingNo. glitch..
Well i saw a glitch about pokemon stats, i havent tried it though.. it was something about if you deposit your pokemon into your box its stats will be changed, based on how much EXP it has.

Yes, with this glitch you can make pokemon develop higher stats. I'm not precisley sure on the process of it now because it's been a while since I played. You have to go out into the wild and battle so many wild pokemon in a row with ONE pokemon less than level 100 as your starter, between 10-20, then deposit the pokemon into your pc and withdraw them again. Then when you check its stats, it will have one extra stat in each field. I used to do this, but it's tiring. So I didn't do it much... ;)

i just remembered, i think you have to turn off the game after youve saved, or during the save. i cant remember, but there was something there you had to do.

ok, she caught a pikachu and nicknamed it ASHACHU. (dunno why.) well, it was perfectly normal until it got to level 36. Then it had a hat. She paid no attention to this weird glitch for a while, and got used to it. Well, then "ASHACHU" started acting strangely. It attacked with strange attacks with even stranger animations (thunderbolt called itself "6kpo.tion.ba.ll and the animation was a dot spinning in circles.) and these had strange affects on her other pokemon, at least until she turned it off. (they were normal again thankfully) so everytime she fought with ASHACHU, she saved and turned it off. Then she caught 4 more and named them ASHACHU with the same effects. When the first one was KO'ed, it vanished. After a while, the remaining 2 were lv. infinity and one knew hyper beam (she didnt teach it) then one was KO'ed. Unusually, the last one was the original. Eventually, she was using a person to fight! It was an ASHACHU (actual species name!) named !KURbY?. When it was Ko'ed, there was a FUNERAL at Pokemon tower! She was SCARED!

Do Pokemon REALLY die from your party in-game? My friend told me one of his Pokemon died once, but I didn't believe him. I can't imagine this.

Dying Pokemon... this reminds me of what happened on my Yellow Version once. I can't remember exactly how it happened, but it was something like this: I had caught another Pikachu on my Yellow Version & my original Pikachu became angry... so I decided to trade the other to my Red Version (which had a lot of MissingNo. on it). When I started playing my Yellow Version again, Pikachu wasn't following me! I had traded over the wrong Pikachu... It was a little while before I traded it back over (though I can't remember why I had to wait). When I finally did, Pikachu was behind me again, however, when I would look at it, a skull & cross-bones appeared over its head, and whenever I would talk to someone in a building and start walking around again, Pikachu would stay by the other person. As soon as I would leave the building, Pikachu would start following me again, up until I went into another building & talked to someone... I used to say that Pikachu died and was now a zombie, but I think the fact was that it just hated me.

I have a question about the MissingNo. glitch. It's kind of odd, but bear with me.

I was playing red on my GBA SP and I ran into MissingNo. A few days later I tried to put some Gameshark codes into Ruby Version and my Gameshark went dead. Is there any connection?

I honestly dunno what I did. I used no Game shark whatsoever for this:
I was playing Red version, I transfered Bulbasaur and Charmander over to blue and back so I could use all 3 starter pokemon. Anyway I was in Rock Tunnel, battled the first trainer, then I went up the first set of stairs after entering the cave and stood there, then checked out the Poke'dex info for Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, followed by Ivysaur, Charmeleon and Wartortle. Took ONE step forward and was attacked by a Wild Mew! Lv. 10. Tried catching it, but I didn't expect it so I didn't stock up on Balls, so it got away after I ran out of poke'balls and my only great ball...

weird?

I had a really strange yet funny glitch today :D
It probably has happened to someone else though :\
So I was cloning my EEVEE on crystal and when I went to look at it in my box it was ??????????? and whenever I looked at it my game froze :O
So I just got rid of it through Pokemon Stadium 2.
It was a normal EEVEE except it weren't. :cross-eye
It was a EEVEE except where it would say EEVEE it was blank. Luckily I got rid of it, I thought it would mess up my game. This is probably common though.

I just did something strange on my Red Version.

I have already done the Mew glitch, so I now have a Mew (leveled up to lv.80).

Anyway, I was sort of mixing glitches (Mew & A glithes). I walked past Nugget Bridge and went left. I walked down and opened the start menu before the guy standing in the patch of grass saw me. I flew to Celedon City and went left to Cycling Road. I rode down to to patch of grass where two trainers are standing and battled the Cueball. After the battle, I finished riding through Cycling Road and went to Route 15, where I encountered a Ditto. I threw a PokeBall (hoping that I would not catch it) and the PokeBall didn't work, so Ditto transformed into Mew (who has a Special Stat of 221). I attacked to Ditto and defeated it. Afterward, I flew back to Cerulean City and went up north to Nugget Bridge. As I was crossing, my menu popped up. I closed it and entered into battle... but not a wild Pokemon battle. Instead of a Pokemon popping up (like it normally does), a trainer appeard, a Juggler, and wanted to fight. He sent out a Hypno (can't remember what level) and my Mew defeated it.

Do you think it's possible to generate a Prof. Oak by doing something similar to this?

Too bad i turned it off because it went back to normal after that.

My game does that too, but in a different way. Often, if I accidentally shake my GB or drop it, the game freezes and restarts.....in different colors! I've never gotten B&W, though.

this is more of a gameshark error than a glitch, but it is funny.

i activated the lv.99 code, a quick level up code, and a code I found that is called"starter is missingno"

i turned them on before I even started the game, i chose squirtle as my starter and faced my rival(Gary, who would have had bulbasaur) and he sent out bulbasaur, but bulbasaur's sprite was gary's so Eventually I beat him, and m ow got screwed up and I was a clefairy. so I went out to route 1 and a lv.999 wild gary appeared!

With my Red version I recently came across an undiscovered place in Glitch City (at least I think it's undiscovered). This is how I got there:

You enter the city using the right side of Cinnabar Island.

After you enter Glitch City, then keep going to left until you get stuck in an invisible wall. Make sure your trainer is facing the right, then press your START menu, (the whole screen should be water now) and get on your Pokémon that knows Surf.

Now comes the more difficult part. You'll need to navigate using your START menu. Although it looks like you're Surfing on land, press your START menu and it's actually a pond. There are 3 ponds, so you'll need to use the START button every few steps. It'll help you figure out where to go.

After you get to the 2nd pond, the whole screen should turn to water, or at least most of it. Now, all you have to do is go down. Eventually you'll see those weird pillar thingys that you sometimes see in water. Just keep going down. Soon you'll find another chunk of land and houses and other strange pixels, etc. I call it Glitch Island. The only problem is that you get stuck in an invisible wall before you get to go back on land. >>;;

Here is an extract from Glitch City Laboratories page 'Glitch Myths':

"Glitch Myths (Updates (http://glitchcity.info/misc/recent?page=docs/myths)) Most chances you or one of your friends has heard or even fallen for one of these common Pokémon/Glitch myths at one time. Back when Pokémon Red/Blue were new to the video game market and everyone was playing them, myths ran rampant, especially with the discovery of MissingNo. and the general mysteriousness of a game as large as Pokémon. Well, now I, ACE91, will debunk many common Pokémon and Glitch myths and explain the truth about the Pokémon games. Read on... Ace's Pokémon MythBusters

Myth: "You shouldn't capture MissingNo. It will completely wreck your game." Truth: Fear and uncertainty always seem to win out over scientific testing and knowledge... I can say that I believed this one myself for a long time, but then I saw the truth. The Glitch Pokémon MissingNo. (http://glitchcity.info/glitchdex/redblue/missingno) and 'M (http://glitchcity.info/glitchdex/redblue/m), contrary to popular belief, do not cause significant permanent damage to your game. However, they do cause a few glitchy things to happen, but these are easily overlooked or fixed. First off, the one thing that makes most people wary of MissingNo. is that it messes up the game's graphics when caught, causing enemy Pokémon images to be flipped horizontally and your character's image to be scrambled. This is easily fixed by simply looking at the stats of a normal, non-Glitch Pokémon. It will happen again if you view MissingNo's stats, but you can just view another Pokémon's stats and return the game's graphics to normal again. It has also been said that sending an 'M to your PC will freeze the game when you view your PC, and this has truth to it... sort of. The freezing will only occur if the 'M is at Level 0, because the game can't process a Level 0 Pokémon correctly. 'Ms over Level 0 will cause no problems. The one bit of permanent damage that MissingNo. and 'M do cause is scrambling your Hall of Fame and filling it with a glitchy mess. This will happen when you encounter a Glitch Pokémon, even if you don't capture it. However, it's a worthwile trade for multiplied items. After all, how often do you look at your Hall of Fame?Myth: "If you talk to Oak a million times, he'll give you a Pikablu/Pikatwo/Pikayou/Pikawho/Pikashoe/Pikaglue/Pikaf00/slap in the face/whatever." Truth: Any "code" that involves getting a "secret Pokémon" that isn't in the game and isn't glitched (like the infamous "Pikablu," which some people I know actually believe exists) is definitely fake. Cheats that involve hidden, non-glitched cities, extra HMs, and stuff like that are also fake. The only "extra" Pokémon that the developers put in the game is Mew (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mew_%28Pok%C3%A9mon%29), and it can be acquired through a glitch (http://glitchcity.info/docs/ditto/mew). The people who make this stuff up only want to make you waste your time chasing some stupid joke. Of course, if you're really determined, keep trying to make something that doesn't exist appear. Oak might just be generous and give you that slap in the face. :PMyth: "If you catch all 150 Pokémon and talk to the guy in Celadon Mansion, you'll get a Mew." Truth: Not really. All you get for your hard work of completing the entire Pokédex is a diploma. No Mew. Some say (and I myself once thought) that Mew can be obtained this way on the Japanese versions of Pokémon Red/Blue, but I have no way to prove this true or false, as I do not own one. Even though you won't get Mew for catching all 150 other Pokémon, you can still get Mew on Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow by using the Mew Glitch (http://glitchcity.info/docs/ditto/mew).Myth: "There's some kind of awesome secret that the developers didn't want you to find in the grass beyond the fence beside Route 1." Truth: For years gamers have wondered what lies in that seemingly endless expanse of grass to the right and left of Route 1 that no one can get to. Some people think you can find Mew or Glitch Pokémon there, others think there's a secret area beyond the grass. Well, there's a "secret" there all right... You take one step into that grass and your game freezes. People have tried this with the Gameshark walk-through-walls code and the same thing has happened every time. No, this isn't because of some defense system that the developers added or anything, it's actually because there's nothing out there. It's not that there's no grass beyond there or anything, there's just nothing. No data, not even empty space. The developers didn't program anything out there because you're not supposed to be able to go there, so when someone walks far enough to see the spot where the grass ends, the game crashes because it doesn't know what to do with the null data. Coincidentally, this is the same reason that the game freezes if you Surf too far in any direction in Glitch City.Myth: "When you through a Pokeball, holding down the B button and the Down button will make the Pokeball act as a Master ball." Truth: This doesn't happen. The rate of catching Pokemon is determined by a simple formula the moment you select your Pokeball. So if the Pokemon will be caught or not is determined before the Pokeball even appears on the screen, and any button pressing will not effect the outcome. I will be debunking more common myths in the days to come, so stay tuned to this page. Also, if you know a myth or something that you think is a myth, join the forums (http://forums.glitchcity.info/) and post it on the official Glitch MythBusters thread (http://forums.glitchcity.info/index.php/topic,5.0.html). Your myth just might be posted on the site."

I copied and pasted it from the pages. Hopefully it might help us when looking for glitches! :)

I have just encountered the single most BIZARRE glitch ever on pokemon gold.
However, I'm playing on an emulator. But no abnormal settings, just the way it would play on a Gameboy.
First, the scenario. I'm at the top of the Ho-oh tower place, and I've just earned my 8th badge. I'm trying to catch Ho-oh; I try for the first 3 hours of the car ride, but finally I get sick of it and use my master ball. Bear in mind, I've been trying to catch Ho-oh for about a month now. So I catch it, and this is where the weirdness starts: it says something like "Gotcha! T%a@(cell phone symbol)(more garbage) has been caught!". I was all like WTF? So I fly back to Blackthorn, to withdraw it and take on the E4.

I walk up to the PC, with box 1 selected. I open the box, and... it's empty. So I switch to box 2, but while I switch, I notice that box 1 has "39/20" pokemon in it. 0__0 I open Box 2, which allegedly has 4 pokemon in it, and this is what I find. Now bear in mind, I don't have the box EXACTLY as it was when this happened, because I withdrew a pokemon or two... 4 to be exact. But this is what I have left in it, and what I withdrew:
Still in the box

And that's just Box 2 Every other box has just as many pokemon in it, and I don't feel like listing them; this post has taken me nearly half an hour.

I swear to you all, I have never touched an Action Replay, Gameshark, Codebreaker, Xploder, or any other outside cheating device... but there is one thing:

As you may or may not know, about a year ago, G/S cartridges across America stopped saving. The batteries on the games died. So I had to use an emulator.
A few side notes: All the pokemon has Pokerus. And, did you notice how all the names have another pokemon name in it? That's just poor notation on my part. The mumbo jumbo is the pokemon's nickname, the name inside the mumbo jumbo is what comes after the slash. What I call "Actual Name" is what the pokemon's SPRITE is. It is all very strange. Also, the pokemon types are weird. The Chikorita (SPRITE) was, apparently, ROCK/WATER type.

I guess the reason I made this post is because I want to know if anyone here can explain this (perhaps you're familiar with GBC programming/hacking?), or has this happened to anyone else? I'm very happy, I have a team of ubers basically, but... I never found my Ho-oh :3 Ah well.

Probably a common one, but I tried to duplicate my Furret on Silver Version, but when I went to go withdraw it, it was a Kingdra at the same level (this was a long time ago, so I don't remember exactly..), but had an infinitively long name (I'm guessing, because the game crashed when I opened the box). It was in my party after I turned the game back on.

I used to say that Pikachu died and was now a zombie, but I think the fact was that it just hated me.

same thing happend to me, eventually, my pikachu was completely gone. wasnt in my storage boxes or party, or daycare.. i have no idea where it went

Well, it's probably because when you trade a pokemon it's happiness value is reset.

Is Missingno a real pokemon glitched or an unfinished pokemon?

Mr. Person
August 17th, 2008, 05:12 AM
Neither, it's a place holder. It's got somthing to do with hexi-decimals and whatnot.
Also, the real missingno is only in red and blue, and this is the g/s/c section =/
I can't say much for glitches I've seen, because the only 'old' game I have is crystal and I don't care for trying to get glitches and such.

i think missingno. is more of a...how to call... fail-safe
every spot in the game has certain odds for catching pokemon, and odds for what pokemon are going to be caught. each of these must individually add up to 100%
but in the event that something was missed a placeholder, as you called it Mr. P, appears.
in the case of the right hand side of cinnabar island, the programmers must have forgotten to put in the value for the pokemon that can appear there, so the placeholder shows up.

at least...this is what i think...

because i used to be able to make a missingno. appear with my game shark....

boy, those were the days...

Merging your glitch thread into the existing sticky for it - try to be sure there aren't threads already covering stuff you're looking to talk about, especially make sure you look at stickies. @_@

In Silver version I decided to clone my Scyther, so I did exactly what you were supposed to do, like I had done a million times in my gold version with no side effects. So anyways, when I turned my game back on and looked in my PC, there was the clone Scyther, but the funny thing was, it's nickname was EKANS even though the original never had a nickname. Can anyone explain?

Sometimes when you clone a Pokémon in GSC, the data for it is mixed with that of a different Pokémon. If you do it exactly right, you can give one Pokémon the moves and stats of another. I have a Dratini named GYARADOS and a shiny Gyarados named DRATINI. Yes, I was trying to make the Dratini shiny, but it didn't work...

There was a glith/bug in the R/B versions of the game. Focus Energy decreased the rate of Critical Hits instead of raising the ratio. Was that fixed in Yellow or was it only in Stadium that they fixed the bug?

EDIT: I finally found out that Focus Energy only works with Stadium and the newer generations. As it actually decreases the Critical Hit ratio to 75%, it lowers the ratio of Karate Chop and Slash to hit critically. That bug was never fixed in Yellow version as far as I'm concerned. If someone else has got more or different information on this matter, please add to it. As for now it seems as if no one knows the answer.

Does that mean it can learn the same moves as Ekans? Or does it just have the same attack, etc.?

I guess it's a complete swap of everything except the sprite of the pokémon.

Before trading:

Ekans the Ekans:

Bind
Poison Sting
Dig
Leer

Gyarados the Gyarados:

Hydro Pump
Dragon Rage
Leer
Hyper Beam

After trading:

In this forum's jounal thread, I read that it's possible to get all three of the starter pokemon, as well as clone pokemon. Can anybody tell me how this is done, and if it can be done with items (i.e. Master balls and Rare Cany, etc)?

And now, for some Diamond/Pearl fun.

After hearing on a site that you could get Ditto to learn Dunsparce's move set, I thought "Dunsparce being useful, no wai!" paired with the fact that Transform is known to be a VERY buggy move, so when the opportunity struck, I just had to try out.

First I flew to route 208, or whatever the name of the route where you found dunsparce, then I proceeded as follows:

1.) Encounter a Dunsparce.

2.) Have Ditto transform and fight with it
.
3.) Make sure that Ditto uses up all it's moves as dunsparce, without KOing the dunsparce you're fighting against. (which is thankfully easy seeing that dunsparce only has one attack, rage.)
4.)Then, KO the enemy dunsparce with struggle.

5.)If Ditto didn't faint while fighting, then it should have Rage, Glare, Yawn, and some other fourth move I forgot about all at 0PP.
Restore it at a Pokemon center to regain the PP.

6.) Since Ditto forgets Transform in the process, you need to go to the move tutor in order for it to relearn the move.

And there you have it, though I don't know why you'd want a Ditto with dunsparce's move set, other then for the novelty of having a Ditto with yawn.

It's been reported that this technique can be used on other Pokemon for Ditto to learn even more moves, but my attempt with cubone bore no results.

These ones arnt really a glitches but interesting.

If you go thru nugget bridge and over to the left patch of grass where the trainer is, he says "I saw your feat from the grass!" instead of feet.

Then I was in Saffron last night, up near the gyms and I saw a Rocket member, then he dissapeared.

Both of these happend in Blue.

As far as I know this cannot be replicated on an emulator and it is still a mystery as to what causes it but I can say it has to do with mystery gift. (unitentional pun. sorry)

Several years ago I went to trainer House in Viridian City on my Silver version for the first time. When I went to battle there I was surprised to notice that the trainer I was battling Had The name PKMN Trainer. Nothing else. He sent out a level 127 Pinser. My level 80 something Ho-oh took care of it in one hit of a Fire Blast. Next he sent out a level 0 Venonat.
I quickly defeated it and was awarded 0 Exp points.

Sometime after that event I started to notice strange things. When I took mail off of a pokemon and tried to deposit it in the PC I always got this message: "The Mailbox is full!" I looked in my mailbox and sure enough it was. It was full of glitchy, garbled, and untranslatable junkmail. For example: One letter had nothing on it and the name said something like PKMNyk on it while another one had glitch blocks in it. There was even one that crashed my game when I tried to look at it.

When I went to decorate my room I noticed that I had items only available with mystery gift as well as some my gameboy character's mom hadn't bought yet. I had all but a few of the bedroom items. The strangest part was I never did mystery gift with anyone.

Sometime after that I battled PKMN trainer everyday then one day everything changed. I got another trainer Whose name was 9. on the first turn he sent out a level 30 something Cloyster. I beat it in one hit. Then the game text said "9 is about to send out ?????. Will MAX (my character's name.) change pokemon? I pressed B and He sent out a Cloyster At level 30 something but its name was ?????. I can't remember what happend next. I know the game froze but I'm not for sure if The screen said "WAITING" like it does in two player mode or not. some reports have said it has but I can't really remember if it did or not.

My mailbox got crammed full of more glitchy mail. it seemed the more I deleted the more that came appeared. On the plus side I had all the room items including all three big dolls.

I'm not really sure why this glitch happens but whatever the reason it has to do with mystery gift. just to convince you I'm not crazy ther are reports of it on a moderately famous glitch website where you e-mail glitch encounters and they are eventually posted.

I'm apparently not the only one who has had an experience with this glitch so I'm not crazy. I don't want to get into any half cooked theories but I don't know if my theories are any good. This is one theory but I can't test it out unless I find my GBC. Anyone is welcome to test it on their GBC at their own risk:

Here's my theory. I tried Mystery Gift without a partner. (which of course isn't supposed to do anything and was before I knew of the IR connector and how to use it.) now let's suppose I did this around say... a television remote, which also emits infrared light similar to the IR connector on the GBC. Now let's say my GBC's IR Connector picked up the infrared light from the remote and made a mistake reading information given off from the TV remote. The game looks through this data but doesn't pick up the mystery gift item. the game then realizes the information is false which is the reason why mystery gift wasn't loaded. however the game still thinks that the data for the trainer in trainer house was the right one and keeps it on the game. so when the character goes to battle the opponent in trainer house the data from the mystery gift error is loaded just as if mystery gift happend. it may not just be a television remote any waves emitted from electronic objects around the house could be the likely cause. Hmmmmmm. I did try mystery gift next to the computer in the living room maybe waves emmitted from that are the cause.
