Please add your voice to Live 8.
For those who don't know, it's a concert acting to eliminate poverty worldwide. As an example statistic, a child dies every 3 seconds due to poverty. This event comes before the upcoming G8 conference where the 8 richest countries are meeting to discuss the actions they will take to eliminate poverty. By just adding your name and e-mail to the links below, you are increasing the pressure on the world leaders to cancel debts owed to them by the poorest countries.
If, for example, the US uped their contribution by just an extra 1% of their budget, it would transform the lives of the poorest people.
G8: The UK, the US, Japan, Russia, Germany, Italy, France and Canada.

Aims:
Cancel 100% of the debts owed by the poorest countries
Reform trade rules so poor countries can earn sustainable incomes

All that you have to do is add your details to these following sites, and you'll have done your part to eliminate world poverty. It's not asking for money, only your support.
You can fill in the 2 votes for all 8 countries if you wish, but for now I've just listed the US and UK options.
You don't have to be from that set country to still put your name down -the US site, for example, asks for the coutry you're from.

Just remeber sign it because you care, not because someone tells you too because we can make a difference.

Only if the leaders know that we are serious about this, can we make a difference.

They had this big thing on it at the U2 concert I was at recently. If you texted your name to ONE, your name would come up on the screen during one of the songs ^^;

I've been meaning to put my name down...

I added my name to the letter to George W. Bush. I personally think that the G8 countries (especially the U.S.) could do more to help the people in poverty, but the benificary countries' governments (mainly African countries) should also do more. In my opinion, not only the G8, but also the governments of countries "on the other side" (so to speak), can and should do more to help these poor people.

Done on all counts. I just hope this works. If it doesn't, I will be SO mad at the G8 leaders for not doing anything that I'll probably go all out on them in a rant on my site.

Trust me, you DON'T want to see me go all out. I'm deadly when I'm truely pissed. ^-^

I signed. >> Apparently Australia isn't a G8 company, which shocks me... but yeah. @_@; I think it's disgusting the way the African government stops the aid money... and disgusting at how none of the aid-giving countries do anything about it... and disgusting at how the free-to-air channels would rather broadcast cricket than the Live-8 concert...

I won't sign. Live 8 is only to raise awareness. I'll only sign if a TRUE difference is actually being made.
