Here is a teaser screen shot of our map editor.
It feature's

Grid Display
Saving and Loading in special Format
Amazingly Fast Engine
28 x 24 sized maps (default)
The mapformat i have designed is completely hack proof unlike rm2k games which crackers and hackers could change the maps 2 bypass Collisions this map system cant have anything like that done to it because the first changing of data even copying and pasteing the same data over its self will corrupt the map file and generate a hack report.

Will this come with its battle system,you just have to import the pokemon sprites and type the attacks and stuff like that?
btw,i can send you an oven and fridge sprite,had to make it for my game,fr/lg didnt include it and i hate mixing styles...

Yes every graphic from FRLG RSE and they are avalibal in the resource thread its a mix of loads of chipsets from there so im assuming it has every graphic cuz theres a darn lot lol

Latest Updates:
-All 4 Layers now work correctly
-Shift + Left Click Sets a tiles Block Property to true.

How will games work o.o! well let me tell you
With pokemon XP you will not need to have a RTP as any graphics used are in cluded in the exe its self. to distribute your game you save all your maps into a folder includinng the Key "Start Map" which is the map the engine picks up as default load then in with the Map Editor there will be a file named Pokemon XP (can be renamed) and a folder called games in this folder you put a folder with all your maps in it thus meaning if a person has the Game.exe allredy you dont need 2 make a whole 10 meg seup file 2 send them (cough like rpgmaker) you zip up all your maps and send them a small 1 meg package of maps :D but if the person does not have Game.exe then you have to include it what are the possability's of this well
Multiple games can be played with just 1 Game.exe rather than rm2k which has a 3 meg exe for ever game waisting your space which you paid for wen you braught your computer where as PMXP uses 1 game.exe for an unlimited ammount of games.

At first i dont think so
Me and ExtraOrd wana get everything sorted with the first 151 monsters lol since we gotta program them all and get batlles and items n stuff working Ord is programing on it now my break :P i had it for 2 days now its his 2 :P but yeah i have plans for adding Ini Scripting which gets compiled into your mapProject so u script some monsters up

So yea Adding your own monsters is going to be a breeze.
As for changing the tile set no (full stop) this is a pokemon engine which has every pokemon graphic you dont need more lol so no changing tilesets
Changing charsets Yes there will be a choice of many Player Images + adding your own but when we start adding out own stuff this is where we get into including RTP ect so the no RTP version is a non adding stuff version where u work with what uve got but there will be a changed one where u can include graphics as u want.

what if the player accidentally deleted an important file in rm2k or rmxp the exact same thing wud happen the game wudnt work.
ofcource resources arnt guna be left in a folder or anything
ill prolly make some kind of packaging system where u make a .PMP (poke mon package) so all the Important files are togher and cant be edited.

Okay Here are your new ScreenShots
First screenshot is a shot to show you the powerfulness of the Mapeditor You will see a Black Rectangle with a white Rectangle Under it this is the TreeSnap the white bit is the part of the tree that should overlap the old 1 and the black is where new tree goes
Second screeny is a photo of the Collision Layer Turnd On Unlike Rm2k you can set AnyTile to Blocked or unblocked anywhere this means you can have a Wall Blocked one place and the same wall Unblocked another Place :D and you can even see where is blocked and where isnt
and the last screen is a photo of the game running in the engine at 67 FPS on a 1.1 Ghz Machine :D

Well my thinking is a good system should allow both sooo ill be making a point and click command named Execute Script
u put it on a tile and u cant use any other point and click commands for that tile anymore from then on you have to script that tile with a basic like code i will make here is an example

Yeah Common problem easly Fixed Search google for Comctl32.ocx and download it :P
Put it in your C:\Windows\System32 folder then go
Start > Run and type in regsvr32 Comctl32.ocx ^^ then try running PokemonXP

Is there a way to select more than one tile at a time?Or to map using a rectangle

3. Visual Pokédex editor.
4. Visual trainer status editor.
I hate dealing with scripting. I would rather be able to drag and drop the way I want things to look and behave. Is it possible to do this?

What exactly do you mean by this? Is it like programming an attack and then it'll show you what it does in a seperate window?

A. Whatever site I download it from, I'd probably get a virus
B. I never EVER get anything like this unless I know exactly
what it changes on my computer.
Anyway judging by the screens, this is gonna be awesome as a full version

Comctl32 is basically Common Controll Library 32 Bit basically it allowes me 2 use windows buttons and textboxes and stuff in my Program ill include it in the full version and yeah its nothing unsafe or anything lol
Terraforming is autotiles basically it generates the borders of a tile like in RPG Maker series its just a very time saving feature and it will be added soon

Pokemon Gold Silver Crystal
Pokemon Ruby Saph and Emerald version
and
Custom
Custom is script and graphic driven you program it your self using the script language and special commands for the Battle like Battle_Init(); and BattleBG = ResPath ect so you can either use a premade battle system or make your own Easly

I'd imagine something very clean and easy.
Tags: ailments, strings (Go! (POKéMON)! Good job, (POKéMON)! Come back!), Import specific graphics to replace the default (Status Hub: [default] [import button]).
On this note, you should probably make the editor know the difference between wild Pokémon battles, trainer battles, gym leader battles, and the champion battle. I would imagine that the event menu is something similar to RPG Maker. It would be buttons in order like:
Wild Battle Start
Trainer Battle Start
Leader Battle Start
Champion Battle Start
2. Visual menu editor.
Similar to the above, but also a tab for choosing where the menu is located on the screen.
3. Visual Pokédex editor.
Tabs: Pokémon Graphics (sorted by number, editable array size), Pokémon descriptions (sorted by number, editable array size)
4. Visual trainer status editor.
Choose between status and card.
Tabs: Badge Names (Sub Menu: Badge Graphics), Hero graphic (Male, Female; Sub Menu: Background)
Also, will the maker make auto events based on terrain. Meaning, the game already knows that if something's water, it can be surfed on. If it's long grass, wild Pokémon can appear there. If so, could you do a wild Pokémon editor similar to Advance Map? Except, you can edit the array size, of course.

There will be flags for each battle you can set Trainer Leader Wild Champ Battle
Visual Menu Editor hmm idk about this im thinking of again making that a 3 selection thing where you can have Red Blue Green , Gold Silver Crystal Or Ruby Saph Emr
Visual PokeDex Editor will be self explanitory
and trainer stats will be implemented after all the base is made
the game engine its self will know tile types yes.

If you dont meet these Specifications in the relesed version there will be a Lite version will be relesed after the first XP only engine is relesed it will work on 98 machine's much more efficiantly and will remove all 24 and 32 bit transparency so non XP users can use Pokemon XP without it lagging like hell.

Well it is 100% compatibal for windows 98 but it just totally favours XP but thats not saing it wont work 100% on 98 since im developing it on XP using some XP Api calls and some 98 Api calls it shud theoretically work on both BUt more so you will get better performance on XP.
NOTE just because you make a game on 98 and it runs good but not as good as it could means wen the game is played on an XP machine it will run perfectly. But 98 users dont loose hope at all as i will develop on the 98 side of things more from now :P

Unlimeted Maps, 27 x 24 is the max size.

No world map creator i will be creating somekind of World Map Creator yes but it is not a map. it is a small mapeditor roughly the same size as Pokemon with 8x8 Sized tiles each tile will represent Path Water Town Route ect.

No because Kanto joto ect are not specifyed maptypes it is just Output text that gives the user a description of where they are (as is pokemon)

Well each pokemon game "Gold , SIlver, Crystal" | "Red , Blue , Green" | "Ruby, Saph , Eme" has a theme for their battles
Gold Siver Crystal = a colourd version of the old gb games battle system
Where as Red Blue Green has a Colour themed battle system
And Ruby Saph and Emerald have nice Colour Battles this allowes people who wana make classic Game Boy pokemon remakes the oppotunaty to use the old battle systems rather than the new ones.

Ah i see what you mean okay well each map will have a propertey that i will call the "Common Tag" then each Town i place in the townmap Maker will also have a "Common Tag" thus if both common tags are identical then that is where you are on the map :)
Example:
I have mapped my map i go Settings > Common Tag and type in Map00001
then
i start making my world map i place a town and i set its Common Tag to Map00001
then i go File Run Game
I walk to the map with the Common Tag Map00001 and hit "A" to bring up the menu i scroll down to PokeNav and select (NAME) world Map because both common tags were the same my little man is displayed on that map :)

I'm almost blinded by the sheer pwnage. This is especially great for me, because NONE of Elitemap's extra tools, besides the map editor itself, work for me. A new tool will be great.
Anyways, I decided to enter the contest thingy, if it's still going.

Mine's the first city map entered...which could help or hurt me, I guess.
Anyways, that's the prototype version of the map of one of the cities in the game I would currently be making if elitemap didn't hate me.
The place is called Evolution city, and as the name suggests, it's where you get evolution stones in the game.
The story behind it is that the mines beneath the city(that's what the little cave leads to) were the first place evolution stones were discovered. They then exported to all over the world, making the city very rich.
The gym leader there uses eeveelutions. =P

No, I realize that. I realize it's not a ROM Hacker.
However, if I'm understanding it correctly, it does generally the same thing: lets you make your own pokemon games.
The point of my story isn't ROM Hacking, it's just the fact that I want to make my own pokemon game, using any program necessary.
And don't suggest rm2k3. I can barely even do that the way it's originally intended to do, let alone all the scripting that would go with making a Pokemon game on it.

Actually, the trainer tip signs are intentional. It's the new style of signs in the game, I feel that houses are not as significant as landmarks and therefore should have different signs. All houses in the game will have the trainer tip signs, and there aren't going to be Trainer Tips in the routes or w/e.
Also, you'll notice the "streets" in the city aren't very organized like in previous Pokemon games. That is also intentional. In the real world, streets aren't always lined up in straight fancy little lines.
Both those aspects are more things that could help or hurt me in this contest =P

Please, call me BT. It's shorter, easier, and less formal.
Anyways, I don't know if this has been adressed yet, but I've found your system of putting objects on the map to lack one thing.
The ability to put multiple tiles on the map at the same time.
What I mean by this is in rm2k or rm2k3, you can highlight/select more then one tile at a time in the chipset window, then click on the map and all the tiles you selected will be there.
This is useful for things like buildings, where in the version of PXP you gave us to make our maps with, you would have to select each part of the building one by one, but in the RPG Maker games, you could put the entire building on the map at the same time, not each part one by one.

Anyways, I'm working on another map now, much better then my Evolution City map. If you're allowed to enter 2 maps in the contest(I think I read that that's the case), I enter them both, but if not, I'm going to enter the one I will be posting shortly.

Anyways, here it is...I think it's much better then the Evolution City Map...

I'm not sure if that would be part of Hydrogen/Oxygen(my games) or not.
If it is, it's like this: the little river with dock at the bottom is how you get there, whether by boat early in the game or by surfing later in the game. Then, various parts of this town become availabe when you get certain HMs. The cave thingy at the bottom is what I like best about this place, and I think that if it is in the game, inside the cave is one of the three legendary dragons(the game's 3 pokemon, in place of the birds, the beasts, the regis). The item at the top of the cave is obviously something rare, I'm even considering making it the master ball.

If you're talking about my newer map, this is why there aren't many houses:
It's not a city.
It's just intended to be a little island-type thing surrounded by forest, rivers, and the sea(which, btw, I didn't see a tile for-where is the tile? You know, for the sea water, not the river water I used in my map). It's got a PokeMart, PokeCenter, and the one house belongs to the guy who owns the boat you get there on.

And what do you call 'low graphics mode' ? 32megs is a pitiful amount, if you have a 32meg card or less then you need to have a serious talk to your parents (don't be scared to use the back of your hand ;) ) or you need to get a job, I mean come on 32megs was like 1999, they cost like $10 now :\

lol, i just mean a couple of stuff that i havnt got time for yet as they take a long time. but here is a version with the game engine in but as to programs, you have to make the maps on Pokemon XP then open them on Pokemon XP Game Enigine and play it, on the game engine there is many errors and bugs but... i will get this new engine from ryan and put it in for the next version.

well... errrmm you must not be usin it properly. later on i will write a help file for it.
but right now i have 2 big problems!
1. i now have dial up so i cant come on often.
2. i got new update for Pokemon XP but now the frmMain page of the editor (main page) has diserperd!! so i need to try and get it back!... cn anyone here decompile the editor?? otherwise i have to start it from the first version mad by ryan,a i dont want to have to go that far back!!!
But i will keep on trying.... also later on when i have it workng again i will create a newtopic for Pokemon XP.

dude, this has nothing to do with RMXP it's C++ for God's sake!
but I think you misenderstood this thread with the starterkit one because this one is not what canbe theoretically called a "Starter Kit" and it isn't for RMXP but C++ :)

Ryan, I have never lost one before either. But i think mabye.... when i put it on my flash card it didnt copy, it cut. So over the weekend i will look at my flash card to see if frmMain is on it. if not then.. i will have to start from the begining again.
btw. i cant get msn working (doesnt work on my mums laptop)
