Wow,your shading is pretty bad. You need to work on it big time.

You seriously need to work on these. The Wailord is blurry, the Zapdos has praticly no shading, and the Eevee has no shading at all.1/10

I will metion a few things, these are my 1st recolors
How is my shading wrong?
Yes Wailord is somehow blurry, and Zapdos does have shading. Eevee doesn't but Zapdos does :\

It just needs work, and if you're just starting, you really shouldn't be opening a request thread.

Being your first is NO excuse. And by awful shading,i mean there is no darker or lighter colors to make it realistic.

Umbreon Shadow, There is shading, you cannot see it.
_Alex_ maybe you're right but I need practice recoloring and it is hard to decide.

Thats the problem.Little shading isnt good. You need good shading. But train and you may get it right.

Since others have mentioned shading, I'll mention other things as well:
My advice would just be to not use bright colors. Like the magenta on the houndour, or the lime green on the wailord...bright colors like that really don't suit pokemon sprites, and tend to stick out way too much.
Oh, and if possible, never ever save a sprite in .jpg format. The file compression tends to make sprites not look as good as they could be.
I actually see shading on the eevee, it's just that because there's not much in the way of value difference, it's not seen well enough. When shading, watch out for that - make sure there's enough of a difference between the lightness/darkness of the colors chosen, so that any shading/highlighting attempts can be seen.
I do like your porygon, though, just because of the colors used for it.

I am training by taking requests, that way I can hear an opinion other than you and _Alex_

Firemaker there is little shading or none at all.
I agree with that statement. Firemaker, pratice your shading as much as possible BEFORE opening a request shop. Your first try is no excuse when it comes to spriting. Look at the Houndour, the shading is horrible on it, and Zapdos and Eevee don't even have any shading at all. Try harder next time, and
you'll get better. ;D

well, i don't know much about spriting, but i can tell the difference between good and bad :x the only good one, imo is the porygon, because the colors don't look like normal MSPaint colors, as the rest do. i can hardly tell the Wailord is a wailord.. x.x
if you wanted people to see your first-try sprites, you should make a new thread, rather than make a request thread. i can, however, understand where he's coming from. maybe he wanted to get better and be good enough for other people to want his sprites... i see that a lot in G&P, only with banners, not sprites. *shrugs*

I know Chansey looks bad, that was because I used Paint Bucket instead of Selective Color

I can't see Chansey's outlines! >.<;;; And those look like the default MS Paint colours too on Chansey. Jigglypuff looks good from what I can see.

Like most have said you need to work on shading. The only good ones are krabby, porygon, and omnamyte. The wailord would look better if it wasn't a jpeg. And the magmar isn't even recolored. Just inverted OO. And for the chansey, I'll give you a little advice. Never, ever, EVER, use default paint colors. *calms down*

For magmar, I did not invert it. I recolored it and that is what it looked like strangely. and for chansey I had to use default paint color, it would be pink otherwise

You can simply change the colors by double clicking on the dots for them. But that also is no excuse.Unless you are using 16 bit BMPs,you could do better. The chansey looks awful but the 'puff looks okay.

You're improving. The sunkern and whismer are good. The unknown and ghastly are bad. The pidgey's okay. And for the chansey, we're you recoloring with groudon's colors or something? Because his 2 lightest shades are pink, but you can just start from the darkest one.
