Shiny Pokemon

I've come across thousands of regular Pokemon since my one and only shiny Oddish I caught without any luck for finding another. It's really hopeless though because I never find a shiny Pokemon when I'm looking for them. I caught my shiny Oddish when I wasn't looking for a shiny Pokemon. Too bad I can't get more. I want a better one like Latios, Absol, or Flygon. Should I raise and evolve my shiny Oddish and train it and have it on my team?

I've never known anyone to have that much luck with shiny Pokemon like that, unless you used a gameshark or something...

My friend's brother caught two shiny Pokemon in the same week in Silver. A Weepinbell and an Ekans. He duplicated them and traded them to me. :P I had to trade him my duplicated shiny Larvitar and shiny Quilfish though which I hatched from eggs thanks to a blue Ditto trick.

I know this is an RS thread, but I caught a shiny Suicune on my Crystal kart after the third try! I only tried to catch it three times because I knocked the bugger out twice... -_-; but the third time it was shiny! Yeah, anyway, this *is* an RS thread... let's see, the shinies I've got on my Sapphire kart:

Poochyena: well, it evolved-- it used to look really cool and golden, but now, it's just a weird brown... -_-

Zigzagoon: I actually didn't have to search for this one. I was looking for a Minun along whatever route is north of Slateport (116? I forgot the #) and poof! I about fell off my chair when I saw it. I just evolved it into a cool red-striped Linoone ^_^

Swablu: I like the normal blue Swablu... but I saw a shiny while looking for a shiny something else - I forgot what - and grabbed it. ^_^ I'm considering evolving it and getting a gold Altaria... but me likes my blue one....

I think that's all the shinies I have on Sapphire... I have no luck whatsoever with this kart for shinies-- on my Crystal kart, I got shinies left and right (Silver was a little harder to find them in)...

Some people say it was easier for them to get shinies in GSC and uber-difficult in RS, and others say it was vice versa... :( I never had to look for shinies in my Silver or Crystal karts, and in Sapphire, I find myself searching for hours... -_- (the only shiny that I didn't search for in Sapphire, other than Ziggy, was that shiny Safari Zone Pikachu... and it raaaaaan! T_T)

I've just broken the 100 hours mark on my Sapphire game, and not ONE shiny Pokemon has appeared. I've been in tons of wild pokemon battles, (only just won the Heat Badge), and am constantly wandering around to just level up my pokemon. It's frustrating!!.

100 HOURS!!! Blimey!!! I beat the Elite four @ 11hours, I am now at about 40 hours with 130 pokemon in my pokedex. looking for pokemon - that's how i found a shiny pidgey in my gold version! I know - PIDGEY?!? I found a blue ditto, but that was using cheats.

I know this is a bit off topic, but am i the only person who sorts his pokemon into boxes by type. Does everyone else just put them in any box?

Yes, two non-shinys can breed a shiny, but the chances are the same as catching one. A very low chance. Breeding a shiny with a non-shiny doesn't even work anymore.

Since shininess is made up of IVs, and IVs are inherited from the parents, if the parents weren't shiny, there's not a hope of the baby being shiny. The only way to get a shiny via breeding is if both parents are shiny. The odds are still 1 in 16 though... I'm not sure if you're prepared to wait that long...

You can't breed shiny Pokemon. It will say "Briming with energy" or something like that. You can get a shiny from breeding two non-shinies, but it is very rare. It would be the same as finding one in the wild

1 in 16? There is no way that it is that easy. It was 1 in 64 in g/s/c when IV's count, but in r/s IV's don't count with odds of shinies, so it's much harder. Add a few zeros to that 16. ;)

Did anyone here ever notice that the shiny colours change a little/a lot when uploaded to Colosseum? Flygon looks really bad (icky green-yellow colour and the blue turns dark green) and Ninetales isn't silver anymore . . . . It's really disappointing; they looked so good on the Gameboy. . . .

Yes, it is possible to get a shiny Jirachi from the bonus disk, but it would be very rare. You'll only have one chance at it too for each game. It might happen though, but don't count on it. I've never been able to get a shiny legendary Pokemon before. :\

I've managed to get 3 gold shiny swalbus in a couple days. I'm begining to wonder if pokerus somehow affects the rate at which shinies appear. It just seems my rate of seeing shinies went up since I got the pokerus virus. I've had at least one pokemon affected by it when I encountered the shinies.

just change moonlight to sunny day, and stun spore to sleep powder for your standard sweeping chlorophyll Pokemon. Vileplume has a bit of flexibility with going physical sweeping (swords dance + sludge bomb).

Demonchase, go 2 Yahoo and search for Ruby Pokedex. The first site dat pops up should say Kaens Ruby and Sapphire Pokedex. It shows all da new 'mon and wat they look like when their shiny. If u want the shiny version of all da 'mon, scroll 2 like da thrid search result and check around there. The description under the site should say someti like: "a rough excuse for a pokedex" or sometin.

Well, I started to raise my shiny Oddish yesterday and now it's a level 23 shiny Gloom. Soon I will use a Leaf Stone on it to evolve it into Vileplume. I'm not sure if I should use a Sunny Day/Solarbeam combo, or a Swords Dance/Sludge Bomb combo. I can't get Swords Dance though until I get FireRed and/or LeafGreen. :\

Anything involving codes should be asked in the Codes stricky thread. But I'll answer it anyways. I don't know about the shiny codes but a lot of people have been asking for the shiny pokemon code. Some people claim to have it but they never seem to reveal it. I would just suggest using the Pokemon Calculator to make a shiny Pokemon, a powerful one at that since the Calc creates stats and everything. There's a link to the Calc in the codes thread somewhere.

As for the site...umm...I think I'll let Frosty explain that part...if his Pen2 ever works. Or just go to the 'New Users' forum and ask there.

At 12 at night I was watching Lifetime. When I was watching The Nanny I was searching for a shiny mudkip at the beginning of the game. Then when I was about to give up I ran into a shiny poocheyena. So I guess if you spend at least a days worth of looking you will find the shiny sooner or later.

To catch shiney's, it depends on how long you have played the game for, I have played it for at least 200 hrs up to now. Plus you have less than a 1% chance of catching on, so it takes ALOT of patience, more patience than catching a Feebas.

Heh, if that were the case, we'd all have shiny Pokemon by now... 1 in every 10 would be shiny, and thus they wouldn't be as interesting. I believe the odds are somewhere close to 1 in 6000, and thus, the percentage chance drops to a miniscule 0.01666...% (with those 6's continuing off into infinity, I'm sure you get the idea)

I caught my second shiny Pokémon today, a shiny Skitty. I was really surprised to be sitting in a Dairy Queen parking lot, playing Sapphire, and having a shiny Skitty pop up on the screen when I was actually trying to catch a Skitty. I didn't plan on catching a shiny one though. XD I'm not sure if I should train it or not, what attacks I should give it, or what nickname to give it. The other shiny that I caught, Vileplume, that I caught last November on Ruby, is at level 51 I believe, and is nicknamed "Vile-EX". I'm not sure if it is a good enough name though. It's move list is almost set up completely.

Wow, you are really lucky to find all of those shinies, and in 282 hours. If I combine my times on Ruby and Sapphire together, I would have over 500 hours, and only 2 shiny Pokémon. On Ruby I have 400 hours, and I caught only one shiny Pokémon, an Oddish, which is now Vileplume. I caught it when I had like 300 hours played, back on 11/25/03. On Sapphire I have only one shiny Pokémon too, a Skitty, which I caught on 7/7/04, just 2 days ago. I only have like 111 hours on that game. I am searching really hard for shinies of the following: Absol, Carvanha, and Taillow (Taillow, because of the shiny Swellow in the newest anime episode.)

My friend's little brother had that kind of luck in Silver. He caught 2 shiny Pokémon in the same week, Ekans and Weepinbell. Luckily he duplicated them and traded them to me. His older brother (my friend) and I were never able to catch shiny Pokémon. Neither of them have got Ruby and/or Sapphire yet, so I'm never able to trade or battle with anyone. My friend is planning on getting FireRed though, so we will be able to battle and trade this fall. It won't be as fun at first though when I will have level 100 Pokémon, and he will have level 5 Pokémon. XD

Actually not all the starters are male. I've gotten females from restarting continuously so I could breed them. Also I don't know if anyone knows this but when you start a new game and you get to the part with the pokeballs laid out, just press A button to look at it, and if it isn't shiny press B button to close it and repeat until you get a shiny. I've done it, but it does take patience, so don't say it's fake after trying it for 30 seconds. Just don't do it to fast or you'll lose it by just opening and closing the pokeballs.

My only shiny is the red gyrados from GSC... although I think I might have seen a shiny tangela near mt. Silver one night... it was real late and dimly lit and I don't think I caught it... oh well. I'm really super suspicious of finding a shiny so everywhere I go I keep my Sceptile and a load of pokeballs. My Sceptile can False Swipe, but my Altaria is about to replace that position... I also hate to go into the Safari Zone or anywhere where pokemon run from you easily... cause I don't want to be crying because I took all these measures just to catch one shiny pokemon and to have it run... :)

Chris, I don't think RS has even been out for 2 years yet. And Salamence has an advantage over Charizard. it cna learn Hydro Pump and a series of Rock type attacks (which Charizard has a 4X weakness to). All Charizard has is Dragon Claw, Dragon Rage (which only does 40 point of damage regardless of anything), and Outrage. And those would probably only kill Salamence if it was a critical hit. Both of their Speed can reach a maximum of 236-299. Other than that, all of Charizard's stats are lower than those of Salamence's.

Erm...no. Just like any other Flying Dragon, a Snorunt@Nothing with Ice Beam means instant death for Salamence. Maybe evne a Blissey could do the same thing. But yeah...I suppose it CAN be strong if you got a Ninjask to BP some Attack/Special Attak and Speed so it can be fast enough and strong enough to hit first and kill an Ice Beam user before it gets pwned. This is going off topic.

1. They r too long and complicated.
2. If u make 1 tiny mistake, they can screw up ur game.
3.If u use the Pokemon Calc/Maker, ur guys get great experience after battles, u can give them any moves u want, and u can modify nething about them (coughMAKETHEMSHINYcough). Plus, u DON'T run the risk of SCREWING up ur game.

Actually, oyu still do run the risk of screwing up yuor game. If you get a Bad Egg and hatch it, buh bye game cartridge. But that risk is esaily eliminated by simply turning your game off if you ever get a Bad Egg. But some people are idiots and ahtch the thing.

A shiny pokemon is a pokemon that is a different color than it's specie would normally be. It's just an easter egg though, it doesn't do anything except look cool. The only way to get them is to find them in the wild by chance. The only way you could actually find a shiny pokemon was the Red Gyrados in the Lake of Rage in GSC. It's all luck. There's no way to increase your luck of finding one, and your chances are extrememly slim. Good luck on finding one though.

I have no idea how shiny Pokemon in Ruby/Sapphire work, but I remember very well that in Gold/Silver shiny Pokemon would have higher offensive stats, and lower defensive stats than the non-shiny version of the same Pokemon.

I used to fanatically use a Gameshark with my Silver/Gold and catch nothing but shiny Pokemon all the time.. and I am positive the shiny versions of Pokemon have higher attack stats and weaker defence stats than the normal versions of Pokemon.

It may or may not be the same in Ruby/Sapphire, I don't know at this point. Ever since my dog ate my Gameshark for my Gameboy Color I haven't bothered to buy a Gameshark for my Gameboy Advance SP.

Hmmm... guess I'll have to start Ruby all over again and use the "save the game then encounter a legendary Pokemon over and over and over again until it randomly spawns as a shiny version of itself" trick.

I found out recently that - after hacking the game, not personally but from people who do - shiny Pokemon have a minimum score of 10 IV in each of their 6 stats. So, they'll have a stat range between 10-31 instead of 0-31. Makes them slightly above average in terms of stats.

Can't remember where I found this out, I think it was somewhere on GameFAQs.

i caught a shiny goldbat, but it took till lvl 51 until it evolved... i had to raise its stats to the max each and i even gave it the special item that makes it more friendly but it didnt evolve till i gave it stats +...

It's rather amazing... I've logged over 130 hours of game play on my Sapphire cart, and I've yet to see a single shiny. Mind you, the only one I saw in Gold/Silver was the shiny Gyarados that everyone gets.

My shiny Vileplume is around level 60 right now, but I haven't been training it much lately. My shiny Skitty is still at level 8. I have yet to train it, and I'm not sure if I should. It isn't strong enough of a Pokémon for my team. I'm still on the hunt for a shiny Absol and a shiny Latios.

There is no such thing as a common shiny. Every Pokemon has an equal chance of being shiny.

the only way you could say a shiny is common is if there's an excess of it. i was looking for only about 45 minutes for a shiny ghastly last night. and i found one, i did get lucky, but having a ghastly pop up every 5 steps does help.

Well shiny zubat are common, but i find one in my fire red game at the 3:hours of play, while i was training my party on Mt. moon...i guess i was luck.

Trainers in the Battle Tower can have shiny Pokémon. It is rare to find one though. I haven't come across a trainer yet that had one. I find legendaries on them sometimes. Usually Regis.

i've been really lucky with shiny pokemon. in my Sapphire game i caught a shiny feebas, which evolved into a shiny milotic. then my brother kindly released it for me. in ruby version i caught shiny latios. more unimportantly i caught a shiny surskit. but i released it just for fun, it's just one of those common pokemon. in Gold i caught a gold caterpie one day too.
