There is a female Professor in Pokemon XD : Gale of Darkness, I believe... Can't be sure, I haven't done my research lately.

We all get bored of the constant catch-em-all blahblah, so maybe there should be alternate quests. Turn Pokemon into a T - Rated game, and you could even have relationships with the characters in the game. Sure, it's sappy and a touch girlish to add dating, but with the addition of breeding in Silver/Gold/Crystal, this topic was bound to come up, right? I mean, it's Pokemon having sex... who'd be so dull as to not realize that? That isn't to say we should just make Pokemon an adult game and let the main character do it, that's just plain... well, anyways, that's what I think. Add a touch of... oh, I don't know, a dating sim or something. Those are always fun. :P

The games don't follow the anime though (exculding Yellow) the anime uses the games as a rough outline for story progression etc. So don't expect to see that happening.

IMO, Prof Palm seems like the most feasible name. Pine is just too obvious. I do like the Willow and Holly names for the Prof though, especially if it's a female.

As far as the japanese names go, I only know that Oak's last name was originally "Okido". Oak = Okido. They sound similar, and that's probably why they changed his name to that. I'm not sure what the other professors' names were. Either all the japanese names conveniently sounded similar to tree species, or they just decided to keep going with the tree thing for whatever reason.

And I guess the tree thing is just the same as the towns being named after obscure colors. However, they stopped the color thing with RSE, so who knows, maybe they'll stop naming the professors after trees as well. :P
