On the internent, when someone asks you who your real name was, did you have to lie and say that your name was another name?

I've never lied about my real name...if a person asks me my name, and I don't wish to say it for any reason, I just don't tell it to them. Simple as that. I can't be bothered to try and think up a false name for myself (and then there's the fact that I don't like lying about something like that. :P)

Scieszka is a pretty name, but only a couple of people here know why I think that =p

When registering for email accounts that I'm actually going to use, I'll use my real name, but beyond that, because I'm always just a bit paranoid, I won't give out any more than "Alan S. K." It's not like I distrust anyone here, though XD I did use a lot of aliases in the past, though, and oddly enough, the main one being Takeshi Kaga...

^_^ Typically I will only give out my nicname (Hikari) and after maybe a few weeks or so of talking to the person and I get to somewhat 'trust' that they won't stalk me I'll tell them my real first name only. Though there are the occasional strangers that will ask me for my full name, to which I reply with something like Dmitri Nikolaevich Baltermants or Cha Eun-Su. xD They're just random names (the first being a dead Russian photographer) but hey... :D

Nothing's wrong with being a girl. But if you're a girl, you're more likely to be targeted by wierd people online, so it's a safety precaution not to give away your last name. Do you know how easy it is to find out where someone lives just by typing their name into a seach engine?

And it's not only girls who have to be careful ya know. Young boys hafta be careful with what info they give out too.
