If you think damaging your body (especially your lungs) and inhaling over 4000 types of chemicals and/or drugs into your body in the form of air-polluting smoke is cool, then you need a brainwash, fast.

Smoking anything (cigarettes, cigars, pot, crack, etc.) is just simply ruining your own body. Yes, you feel good when you smoke, but that is just an artifical sensation while your body gets destroyed, cell by cell. Your organs are destroyed, your brain becomes damaged (and making you more stupid), and you eventually die with a damaged body.

Well, one of the promises I have made before is that I'll never smoke in my life.
No, it's not cool at all. Does the fact that you're maybe making your days less sound cool? Teenagers think it's also a way to escape from their toubles, just like drugs, but it's not that at all.
Look at all these heavy smokers, who end up with cancer or other serious illnesses. Most of them regret the fact that they smoked in their life. I wouldn't like to be one of them, since once you start smoking, you usually cant get rid of it.
I couldn't possibly think that its worth it trying though, since my dad is a doctor and helps people who have problems with their health because of smoking, and I know some things I wouldn've known.
It's not cool. It kills.

Smoking isn't cool at all. I don't see any reason at all for anyone to start - all it does is damage your health, make your skin yellow and your clothes smell...there's nothing good about it whatsoever. The amount of money people can save if they don't smoke is amazing, too!

I actually find it personally offensive when someone smokes around me, because not only are they showing that they don't care about their own health, but they show that they don't care about anyone else's, either. I'm very allergic to secondhand smoke and I easily begin coughing when I'm around it; I won't go into a store or restaurant that allows smoking, and I try to avoid smokers as much as possible as they end up instantly infuriating me. It's a disgusting habit, a widely-embraced evil, and it automatically sends you to the lowest rung of the social ladder if you do it.

The real villains here are the tobacco companies, though, but that's another discussion for another day...as much as I'd like to, I can't afford to type for an hour about how evil they are.

I definitely agree with Alan. I hate, hate, hate when people smoke near me. It really is offensive... if they want to ruin their own health, fine be my guest... but it doesn't give them any right to ruin mine. My best friend's parents and brother all used to smoke. Her mom ended up having heart problems, and smoking made that so much worse for her. She ended up having to quit, and I remember that being really hard for her. But in the end she did quit, and I think she's alright now.

I'm so glad they put laws in place making smoking in places like restaurants illegal. I used to go out to eat breakfast with my friend and her mom, and we'd end up sitting in the smoking section. I didn't want to be rude to my friend and ask to move, so I just had to suck it up and basically not breathe the whole time we were there eating...

I really don't care. I have a lot of friends in my school that smoke. Hell, I am always outside with them while they take a puff or two.

You people need to realise that it isn't a game of ditching tobacco and then everybody moving on with their lives, hell no. My stepfather - as much as I sometimes hate him - has been smoking for over 40 years now, or so he says. He's practically dead from it - that and drinking, but smoking is the main problem. He's tried several times in the last couple of years to quit. Yet he still does it. And I seriously doubt somebody could be so stupid as to basically 'forget' that they're quitting.
