Plot:

Three of the seven mermaid kingdoms (I'm not saying which ones so that people can pick to be from their favorite kingdom that's not already taken) were attacked again, but by a new mysterious villain, so the baby princesses were sent to live on dry land where humans could take care of them. Time passed, and they grew up thinking they were humans, until the day came that their natural mermaid parents decided it was time for them to return to the sea and use the power of their pearls to stop the villain. The other four princesses took on human forms and were sent to find the three that were raised on land so they could fight together and stop the villain. But finding them would be like looking for a needle in a haystack, and then once they find them, what is the chance they'll believe the shocking truth? Will they be able to come together and defeat this new threat?

And now, to get started!:

The summer had just begun. School was out, and it was time for a few months of slacking off for most students. And Marina Sanders, who had just finished the tenth grade, was no exception. She lay lazily on a beach just outside of Miami, Florida. She wore a light blue two-piece bathing suit, white flip-flops, and her seashell locket which was tucked inside her bathing suit. With nary a care in the world, she rested on her beach towel, reading a book. This was one of her favorite things to do in the summer: read and sunbathe.

She reached into a cooler which lay by her side, pulled out a sandwich, and began munching on it, taking a bite between pages as she read. The book wasn't particularly interesting, just some person's biography, but she was required to read it for school next year, and it kept her busy.

"Good afternoon, may I take your order?" I asked as I approached an occupied table--this one occupied by students. Not surprising--school had let out a week ago, so the Sunburst Cafe was seeing more student traffic as of late.

"I'd like a garden salad and a Tropicana Cooler please." the first girl replied as she admired the people running about on the beach.

"Would you like whipped cream in your cooler?" I asked. For some reason, everyone liked having the coolers with whipped cream, and this girl was no exception.

"I'll have the Megacheese Combo, hold the onions, with a cola." the boy across from her replied.

"Okay! I'll be right back with some rolls..." I assured the patrons, then hurried off and delivered the ticket to the kitchen. Once that was done, I grabbed a basket of rolls from the counter and took it to the pair of students. I smiled as they dug in--the rolls were very popular, and who was I to complain?

It seemed like just another normal afternoon under the peaceful waters of the Pacific Ocean, but for Takara Doumoto, the young mermaid princess of the North Pacific Kingdom, it was everything but that. For reasons that she was still a bit uncertain of, she had been asked to go to dry land where she would temporarily assume a human form. Once there, she would begin a search for three other mermaid princesses who had supposedly been raised as humans, unknowing of their true identities. The task sounded nearly impossible, but Takara was determined to help their parents, who longed to see their daughters once more. She knew that somehow she would find them, especially because she would have the help of three mermaid princesses from other kingdoms, who would be meeting her on land to begin the search. Once they were finally re-united with the others, they would all be together as the seven princesses of the seas. With their powers combined, they would hopefully be strong enough to defeat the mysterious new villain who posed a new threat to their kingdoms.

I hope that everything will go okay... I'm getting kind of nervous now, Takara thought. The iridescent colors of her flowing tail glistened in the sunlight shining down through the crystal clear water as she swam along toward the surface. She grasped the seashell locket that was tied as a necklace around her neck as she reached the top, finally taking a breath of air as she surfaced. She kept her head in the water as much as possible, in an attempt to be inconspicuous, as she looked around the surrounding area. She could see a semi-crowded beach, though she was far out at sea and didn’t have to worry about being noticed.

Marina looked up from her book for a moment and saw something out at sea, that she thought might have been a boat. She took a pair of binoculars out of her backpack to take a better look... and she was quite surprised at what she saw. Oh my gosh! There's a girl out there!, she thought. She could just barely see the girl's head in the binoculars, for a brief moment, and she was so far away, so she thought she was human. Perhaps she had fallen off a boat and was left behind.... or survived a boat sinking. Either way, she needed to be rescued!

She instantly jumped up and dashed to a small hut by the water which had some jet skis next to it. She quickly placed some money on the counter and signed her name on the rental form. She then jumped aboard one of the jet skis, started it up, and the machine darted off into the water. The small boat was quite fast, and she was afraid that her locket would fly off, so she removed it from her neck and grasped it tight.

After some time, she had reached the girl, who seemed to be swimming toward her, shortening the trip a bit. She could not see her lower body, as the water was not very clear her. "Grab on!," she yelled. "I'll get you safely to shore! You'll tire out if you try to swim the distance!"

"Okay, Maya...You can take a break now...we've got the afternoon rush covered." my supervisor began. "And what is that seashell pendant you have? Is that your latest treasure?"

"Sure is..." I replied as I studied the emerald studded seashell. I had found it on the beach the night before, and found it so pretty, I cleaned it a little and wore it. I particularly liked the small emerald-like jewel in it and the song that it sang when I opened it:

A rolling wind from the sea, in so many colors...
Rolling on, towards the shore and to the sky...

I didn't know if that song was special, but it sure sounded nice, even if it was just those two lines.

OOC: Those two lines are the first lines of my "English" version of Legend of Mermaid

"Uhhh... uh..." Takara's face nearly turned white as she floated there, unsure of how she was going to get herself out of this predicament. If she allowed the girl to pull her out of the water, it would expose her mermaid tail, which would have made the situation even worse. On the other hand, she knew that if she went back underwater it would probably cause her to become suspicious, also giving herself away. She couldn't transform, because she looked completely different in her human form and it would really freak anyone who didn't know out. It seemed like a lose-lose situation, but she decided to try her best to make everything look natural in the hopes that she would get the girl to leave without seeming rude.

She quickly put on her brightest smile, and shook her head in a 'no' gesture.
"I'm fine, really! I, uh... do this every day!" She giggled nervously after she spoke, which was an obvious sign that she was uncomfortable. She fidgeted several times as she pondered over what to say or do next, predicting that the girl wouldn't buy what she said, considering the fact that she was a very long ways from the shore. She was thankful that the water was not very clear in that area, as she continued to remain low in it to hide her bottom half.

OOC: Nice! Having the lockets play parts of different songs sounds like a good idea.

OOC: It makes sense that they learn "Legend of Mermaid" first, right?

BIC: As I nibbled on some chips from the break room, I sat and listened to my locket sing:

A rolling wind from the sea, in so many colors...
Rolling on, towards the shore and to the sky...

The girl seemed to be all right, but before Marina could speak, her locket slipped out of her hand and fell into the ocean. "Oh no! Mom's going to kill me!," she thought. Her only option now was to push what she thought was her ability to hold her breath underwater for a long time to the test.

She then jumped off the jet ski and dove into the water. The ocean was not extremely deep here, but because the water was murky, it took her about ten minutes to find her locket. And she was quite lucky that she did. Though she believed she was holding her breath, she was actually subconsiously breathing the water with her nose.

After the ten minutes passed, she surfaced again holding the locket in her hand, a few feet away from the other girl, but she hadn't yet noticed her tail. "It's alright," she said. "I can hold my breath underwater for a very long time. I could have even stayed down longer if I had to, but I found my good luck charm without having to." She then held the locket next to her ear, opened it for a second, them closed. "Good. The music box still works. I'm surprised it didn't short circuit when it fell."

My moment of solitude in the break room was interuppted when I heard the head chef call "Order #28's up"

"Coming!" I grabbed the plate from the counter and delivered it to the pair of students...

Because the girl's locket slipped out of her hand so suddenly, Takara did not have time to see exactly what it was. All that she knew was that it must have been something very important, because before she had a chance to offer to help find it, the girl had already dove into the water to retrieve it herself. At first she was a bit nervous about the fact that she might notice her tail when she was underwater, but then she remembered that it was still quite murky, so she decided to just wait in her spot a few feet away until the girl resurfaced.

Time passed, and Takara was beginning to get a bit worried about her.
I didn't know that humans were able to hold their breath for so long, she thought. Unless... Maybe I better check on her...
She quickly submerged herself in the water and began to look around for any sight of the stranger. Sure enough, she spotted her down below sifting through the ocean floor's sand for her missing item. She shrugged, and decided to just keep her distance until she returned, though making sure that she checked on her every few seconds to make sure everything was going okay.

After what seemed like forever--around 10 minutes, actually--she finally saw a figure swimming up from below, and then out from the water popped the young girl's head. Takara couldn't help but stare in disbelief for a few seconds, until she noticed what the girl was holding. It was a seashell locket almost exactly like hers!
What on earth?! she thought as her mouth suddenly gaped open. What is she doing with one of those?
It took a few seconds for her to actually grasp the concept that maybe, just maybe, this young girl was one of her kind. One of the mermaid princesses that she had been sent out to look for. She didn't want to get too excited about this idea, however, because she knew that there was a very good chance that this was not the right person... Still, at least she was getting somewhere!

After listening to the soft melody that played when the girl opened the locket, Takara finally asked in a as-casual-sounding-as-possible manner, "Where did you get that? It's so cute!"
She continued to keep her body low in the water, hiding her neck where her own locket was strung around as a necklace. She felt the smooth outer shell where her pearl was enclosed as she spoke.
I hope that I can get some leads from this girl... This is working out so perfectly!

OOC: I think so! And sorry that my post is so long; I won't write so much on every single one, lol.

As I returned to the break room after taking care of a few customers, I felt my seashell pendant begin to float off of my neck and open on its own! I watched, awed, as the emerald like jewel rose from the pendant and took the form of a mermaid with long, flowing green hair. A small silver tiara with emeralds sat on her head...but even more amazing, I had somehow grown a green tail like hers! The only difference between the mermaid my pendant had formed and myself was that my tail had more emeralds on it, plus my tiara was gold, not silver. I didn't know who this mermaid was...but at the same time, she seemed very familiar.

"Please don't be afraid, my child..." the green haired mermaid explained. "I am Queen Lina of the North Atlantic..."

"Wait a second...how can I be 'your child' if I have family here on land?" I asked.

"Allow me to explain..." Lina assured me. "When you were still a baby, a new evil arose and attacked us...I had no choice but to send you to the surface, where you would be safe."

"I see..." I nodded, beckoning Lina to go on.

"The North Atlantic was not the only realm to be attacked...Queen Hanon and Queen Luchia sent their children to the surface as well." Lina continued. "If you don't find them quickly and use the power of the pearls to drive back the darkness, this new evil will threaten the remaining four kingdoms and the surface...can you do this for me?"

"Okay..." I weakly stammered, a million questions swimming in my mind all the while. "Although...where do I know where to start?"

"I will guide you in any way I can." Lina assured me as she gave me a hug. "Good luck, my child..." With that, my legs returned, and the pearl settled inside my pendant, where it should be. I was still brooding over my new quest--if Lina, my true mother, had sent me to the surface...then how was I supposed to know where Hanon and Luchia sent their daughters?

IC:

"What? This?," Marina asked, holding up her locket. "It's nothing really, just something that my mom says I shouldn't I don't really know where it came from. I've had it as long as I can remember, and I've worn it around my neck ever since. There's this pretty sparkling blue pearl inside, and there's a music box too, because part of this song plays when you open it, though I don't know the rest of it. can tell that's just a small piece from the way it sounds."

She opened up the locket, and the pearl began to glow as it seemed to sing the song,

Hear the sounds of the sea, and the colors will change
Look on to the blue sky, reflect and muse on, yourself,
Memories will waken, and live once again!

It was a pretty and comforting song to Marina, and it had a familiar feeling to it, but she couldn't place where she had heard it from a source other than what she thought was a music box inside her locket.

"I sure wish I knew the rest of the song. It's beautiful, familiar for some reason, and mysterious. I've tried searching those lyrics in a million times, but I don't get anything.... but I know the rest of the song has got to be out there."

OOC: What do you think of the original trio appearing from the pearls, like I described?

BIC: When I arrived home from work that afternoon, I wondered if Lina had more information for me about my quest to save the kingdoms of the seven seas...so after fixing myself a snack, I trooped upstairs to my room, set my pendant on my dresser facing my bed, and opened it. Sure enough, the emerald like pearl floated out and reformed the image of Lina--albeit the image was small enough to stand on my dresser rather than the huge form she had appeared in at work...I also remained in my human form, rather that reforming my tail like I had earlier.

"Lina..." I began. "I think Queen Hanon and Queen Luchia sent their children to this location as well."

"How do you know?" Lina was a bit surprised at how I had figured out their location so quickly.

"Well...I saw a girl in the surf carrying another girl to shore...and both had seashell pendants like mine..." I explained. "One was aqua, like Lady Hanon's...and the other pink like Lady Luchia's..."

"Hmm...then if the three of you meet here...chances are the dark ones will try and attack this location." Lina mused....

OOC: That's fine with me! I guess that can be another feature that the new lockets have... XD

IC:

Takara couldn't believe what she was hearing.
If what this girl says is true, she must be one of the princesses that I've been looking for! she thought. She's almost the spitting image of Lady Hanon, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was her daughter.
She was so consumed in her own thoughts that she did not hear everything else that the girl said. All that she was concerned about was coming up with a good way to actually break the shocking news of her possible destiny to her.
I have to tell her now!

With a deep breath, Takara began to explain everything as best as she could, despite being terribly nervous.
"I know that you won't believe me at first, but..." she began, slowly rising up from the water until her neck was visible, revealing a nearly identical seashell locket of a different color strung around it. She opened it up before she continued on, to let the girl hear part of the melody that played from it.

Hear the rolling sea, sing a brand new melody...
I think of you, and I see...
Just close your eyes and think of me...

She closed it up and then looked back into her eyes.
"...I'm a mermaid, and I was sent to land from my underwater kingdom to find the daughters of three of the mermaid queens whose kingdoms were attacked by a villian many years ago. I don't quite understand everything yet, and it's so hard to explain what I do know, but..." She hadn't prepared herself for the reaction that she was probably going to get once she told her, and was reluctant to continue. She still wasn't even sure whether or not she had found the right person, but she did know that the only way to find out would be to confront her about it. Knowing that the future of her and the other mermaids' homes were at stake was her driving force, however, and so after a moment of silence she finished the sentence. "...I believe that you are one of the princesses that I'm here to find. Your seashell locket, which is almost exactly like mine, is what gave yourself away. Inside of it lies a pearl that will give you the power to transform into a more powerful form, so you will be able to help me and the others defeat a villian who has been terrorizing our underwater homes. That's the reason why your actual mother sent you to live on dry land... It was for your safety. I know that this news is shocking for you, but you have to believe me. I'm almost certain you're one of the girls that I was sent to find. I'll try to answer any of your other questions as best as I can... I don't want to confuse you too much..."

She decided then to stop talking, and wait for the girl's reaction. As she floated there silently, she lifted the flowing tip of her shimmering tail out of the water so that the girl could see, to prove that she was not lying.

"You're not kidding!," Marina said in shock as she looked at the girl's tail. And until now, she didn't think that mermaids even existed! She thought they were nothing but mythical creatures. She looked at the inside of her locket again, and shut it immediately, unable to believe what she saw.

"Th... th... there's someone in my locket!," she finally shrieked. She could not grasp what was going on. Until this very moment, she believed she was an average human, destined for an average life, and now this was happening. She opened the locket, and unable to get the courage to look into it, she held it out, facing the other girl, showing her an image of Hanon where the blue pearl once was. The small image of Hanon looked at Takara and asked, "Um... would you mind getting my daughter to turn this around so that I can see her?

Kayleigh
September 24th, 2005, 04:21 AM
"Of course not! With your pearl, you have the power to transform into a mermaid just like me!" Takara explained, as a feeling of relief that things were going a bit smoother than she expected swept over her. That was, until she heard a piercing shriek. She looked up to see the girl's locket right in front of her face. At first she had no idea of what was going on, until she looked closer and saw what appeared to be a hologram of a familiar face inside.

"Lady Hanon!" Takara blurted out, suddenly becoming filled with excitement. She listened to what the mermaid queen had to say, and then obediently did what she was told. She took hold of the locket and carefully turned it around in the girl's palm, so that she would have a clear view of the lady inside.
"This is your real mother--Lady Hanon, Queen of the South Atlantic Kingdom! I knew it!"

Sailor Chibi Lunatone

"Um.....H....Hi.... Mom?," Marina said to the mermaid inside her locket.

"Hello, Marina..."

Marina couldn't speak, she was a little surprised that Hanon knew her name, but then it began to make sense.

"You must not understand yet. It was me who gave you that name, it was written on a note that was with you when I turned you over to the humans. I'm sorry I had to part with you, but it was for your own good."

"Err.... but how can I be a mermaid. I mean, I've got legs and not a tail...."

"Takara here can explain everything to you. From such a great distance, it would be hard for me. I shall try to help you in any way that I can. You can speak to me anytime through your locket."

With that, the image of Hanon faded, and changed back into a sparkling blue pearl, which nestled itself inside the locket and it closed.

"So.... if I'm a mermaid, then how do I get a tail?," Marina asked curiously.

Just then, Lina closed her eyes for a moment, apparently thinking about something.

"Is something the matter, Lina?" I asked. Although I knew Lina was my true mother, I still felt a little hesitant about calling her "Mom"...especially within earshot of my family on the surface.

"You were right, Maya..." Lina began. "Queen Hanon and Queen Luchia also sent their children here...that only raises the chance the darkness could strike in this location."

"But how do I harness the power of the pearl when the darkness does come?" I asked.

"Remember this word: Emerald Pearl Voice..." and with that, the pearl nestled into my pendant. I just closed it back up and put it back around my neck, but I was confused about the words Lina had told me: What could happen when I said "Emerald Pearl Voice", anyway?

BIC: I trooped downstairs to see Mom--or at least, my surface mom--boiling some chicken on the stove in preparation for dinner. Althought the aroma was inviting, I gathered my treasure hunting supplies: my metal detector, my brush kit, cleaning fluid, polishing pads, some plastic bags, and a few other things.

"Maya? You are staying for dinner, aren't you?" Mom started.

"Of course...I'm just going on a quick treasure hunt." I assured her as I started for the door.

"Be careful, and don't stay out too late; there's been reports of shark attacks in the area..." Mom cautioned. "I'll keep your dinner warm in the oven."

"I'll be careful, okay?" I assured Mom. She knew that now was the best time to look for treasure--usually the waves washed something up in the evening.

I switched on the metal detector as I stepped out of the house and began sweeping the beach for any sign of metal or something heavy in the sand...

What a long day... thought Mirabelle, walking home from school. Her legs ached, but she continued to walk. A car pulled up beside her, and inside sat a man she didn't know.
'Need a ride?' he asked, smiling.
'N-n-no!' Mirabelle stuttered, then took of running. She ran down the straight path, then turned right at the corner. Ugh... She knew she couldn't run for much longer, so she turned and looked around. A small unused garage sat beside her, and the car was rounding the corner. Mirabelle climbed through the half open window... then fell off the shelf and landed on her face.
'Owie!' she cried, holding her nose. She got up and looked around. There were jars and other items sitting on the shelves.
'Oh, wow,' she said, looking at a closed box. Mirabelle carefully walked over and opened it. Inside lay dozens of jewels, gold, and a pearl. Mirabelle carefully removed the pearl from the box and carried it into the light of one of the windows. It glistened.
'No one should mind if I take this,' she said, putting it into her pocket. She peeked out the window to find the car gone, so she climbed out of the garage and continued on her trek home.

Just as I was about to make another pass down the beach, a familiar voice called to me: "Maya? How goes the treasure hunt tonight?"

"Takeru? What a surprise!" I smiled as a young boy with honey blonde hair ran up to me until he was walking beside me; only pausing to zip up a blue and black wetsuit in preparation to surf. Takeru had joined the staff at the cafe a month earlier, and within that month, we had become fast friends...almost to the point where some of the other workes thought we were in love...but we considered ourselves just best friends.

It turned out that he liked looking for treasure as much as I did--only the treasures he searched for lay underwater, while mine were finds that washed up on land. Nonetheless, we enjoyed talking about surfing (his other passion), treasure hunting, music, movies, whatever suited our fancy.

Tonight, though; Takeru was more interested in doing a little surfing before night fell. "The waves are perfect for surfing..." he smiled as he prepared to paddle out into the surf.

"Just be careful..." I cautioned. "There are rumors of sharks out..."

"That's why I have a shark stick!" Takeru laughed as he proudly displayed a long gray stick for me. I watched as he began to paddle off towards a wave....

I watched as Takeru paddled out to meet the waves, and before long, he was weaving and swirling atop the water...then I noticed some omnious gray fins in the water, following the blue surfboard. Sharks.

Suddenly, Takeru slipped and fell off his board! Although his stick kept the sharks away for a while, before long, they were closing in on him.

My first instinct was to dive in and carry him to safety, but then I remembered Lina's advice: Remember this word: Emerald Pearl Voice.

I took a deep breath and cried: "EMERALD PEARL VOICE!" As soon as the words escaped my mouth, did my pendant open, revealing the now glowing pearl. I watched as it grew into the shape of a small microphone...but then I felt warm as the pearl's power began to transform me as well.

My T-shirt turned a bright white, and a sparkling green jacket appeared over it. Next, my black pants received a spiraling green stripe, and a dark green bow with an emerald appeared in my hair, completing my transformation.

Remember it? The Legend of the Mermaid? Lina's voice spoke to me in my thoughts. At first, I wasn't sure what she meant, but then it clicked! The song in my pendant!

I do, Lina... I thought back. With that, I began singing...

A rolling wind from the sea, in so many colors...
Rolling on, towards the shore and to the sky...
The song I hear in my heart, as the bright sun rises...
Is a song, that I've known, since my youngest days!

The birds they fly, up to the sky, the breeze guiding them on to the east
I...will follow them...follow them on as a guide!

The sharks heard my voice, and started writhing in pain, leaving Takeru unharmed! They quickly swam away as I continued:

Seven seas together, they are paradise
That will grant me peace in the midst of the storm
My broken spirit will rise again and will live forever just to say "I love you!"

"It's easy--with this!" Takara exclaimed, as she quickly held up the seashell locket that was tied around her neck. She opened it up and then pointed at the glistening pearl inside. "Of course, you'll have to use yours... I'll show you how these work. To transform into your true form, a mermaid, you must be submerged in water. Then you have to call out the name of your pearl, followed by the word 'activate'. The same thing goes for when you want to turn into a human, except your entire body must be out of the water."

She closed her locket back up and smiled, and then in an attempt to coax the girl to transform, said, "Try it!"

OOC: 'Activate' was all that I could think of! I'm just tired now, so it was hard to come up with something... We can change it later if you'd like. Also, I'm just assuming that Takara doesn't know about her Idol form yet, either? Maybe she learns later, when they have to transform into them?

"Where did she go?" Takeru asked me as he paddled back to shore, relieved. Thankfully, I had reverted back to my human self, so he had no idea that I had been the one singing.

"Who?" I asked as I continued my walk.

"That girl all in green...she sang this cool song that scared the sharks away..." Takeru explained.

"I wonder who she is..." I smiled.

"At any rate, the guys at work won't believe it!" Takeru laughed as we parted ways...

Mirabelle entered the bathroom an hour later, after doing her homework. What a drag... she thought, shedding her socks. Mirabelle leaned over and turned on the tub, letting the water run over her hand. As she was un buttoning her shirt, she remembered the pearl she had found in the house. 'Hmmm...' she said, pulling off her skirt. She climbed into the tub, fingering the pearl. Mirabelle felt and indent in the pearl, and turned it over to see what it was. 'It says something here...?' she said to no one in particular. The pearl had Aqua Pearl Mirabelle Activate carved into it. 'Aqua Pearl Mirabelle... activate?' she said hesitantly. She instantly felt something, like a reaction. She looked down at her body and saw... a tail. A mermaids tail. And beautiful turqouise hair. 'Wha...wha...EYAHH!!!' she screamed.
'Mirabelle!?' came a voice from outside the door. It was her father.
'I'm fine, but don't come in!' she screamed back.
'I'm coming in all right!' he said, oppening the door.
Mirabelle covered her face. Her father pulled her hands away. 'What is it?' he asked. 'Nothing...' she said, looking her self over. I'm back to normal! she thought. 'It's nothing, really. Just a little discovery...'

But I shook off this question as I approached an occupied table: "Good morning...may I take your order?"

"Well, maybe not right now...," Marina said as her stomach rumbled. "I'm getting kind of hungry. Come on, I'll take you to the beach and treat you to a human lunch."

The girl swam over to her jet ski, which, oddly enough, had not drifted very far away from where she had left it. She climbed on and looked at Takara, who was still in the water, then held her hand out to her.

"Err... without legs it might be hard for you to climb up here, so grab my hand and I'll pull you up... then I guess you can use that pearl of yours to become a human, and we'll go to shore on this."

OOC: I had a great post ready to send, but then my computer messed up, and I lost it. x_x Ugh...

"A human lunch?! Okay!" Takara exclaimed with a nod. She allowed herself to be pulled up onto the jet ski, and then once she was seated, she took hold of her pearl. Before she continued, she lifted the tips of her fins out of the water so that the transformation would work.
"Here goes... Opal Pearl, activate!"
As soon as the words escaped her mouth, her body was immediately surrounded by a glowing light that hid her entire form. It took a few seconds, but it soon faded and slowly two human legs that had replaced her long tail were visible. Her once cerulean blue eyes had changed to a light mahogany color, and her hair was now strawberry blond, with a slight golden tone in it that shone in the sunlight. It was still long and flowing, but it was not tied back like in her previous form. Her outfit had also changed to a sparkling white one-piece swimsuit, that had light pink lace trim at the top that tied into a bow.
Similarities between this and her mermaid form were obvious, but she still looked quite different as a human.
"Well, I'm ready... But first, let me introduce myself!" she said, smiling happily. "My name is Takara Doumoto, and I'm the princess of the North Pacific Kingdom. It's nice to finally meet you, Marina!"

"Well, Takara, you'd better hold on tight, it's going to be a wild ride!, Marina yelled over the roar of the jet-ski's engine. "We'll get to shore in just a couple of minutes!"

The jet ski sped over the waves, leaving a trail of white foam in its wake. Marina steered the boat left and right to avoid sandbars, which would be nearly impossible to get the craft out of. She had been watching waves for enough years so that she could simply observe their height in certain areas and tell if a sandbar was nearby.

After about five minutes she reached the beach and parked the jet ski up to where the shack that she rented it from was. She dismounted it and walked over to the shack. After signing the form again, she looked back at Takara and said, "Well, we're here. I'll be back in a second as soon as I get my stuff together. Then we'll go to the cafe over there.

She dashed over to where her book and backpack were, and luckilly nothing was stolen while she was gone. She quickly picked them both up and ran back to Takara.

"A wild wha--?!"
Before Takara had a chance to finish her sentence, the jet-ski's engine roared before it suddenly shot off toward the shore. She couldn't help but scream out loud as it did so; she was not expecting it to move so fast! Although she was quickly able to tell that Marina was an experienced driver, she was still extremely nervous as she watched her steer clear of the sandbars, afraid that they might accidentally crash into one at any moment, which would not be a very pleasant thing to do going at such a high speed.

After what seemed like forever, the jet-ski's engine was finally shut off at a dock that was nearby an old shack on the beach. Takara watched as Marina dismounted it. She eagerly did the same while her friend walked over toward the shack and began signing a form.
That was definitely a change from swimming in the ocean, she thought as she stood up on the dock to her full height. She was almost breathless from the "traumatic" experience, but managed to let out a deep sigh as she began to walk down the wooden pier to meet her friend, who had just turned around to gather her things. We survived, though! I just hope I never have to do that again... I don't know if my stomach will be able to hold any food...
She held one hand over her stomach as she walked, groaning quietly along the way. It was hard for her to focus on all of the amazing human places and things since she was still feeling a little nauseous from the wild ride she had just been on.

She hadn't been to the cafe in a few weeks, but she noticed a doorway that she didn't recall being there before. "I guess they added a new room since I was here last. It must be the party room they were talking about building."

She found an empty table and sat down at it, signaling for Takara to follow. She then opened up the menu and began looking through it. There were many tempting choices that all made her mouth water, but she decided to go for something simple.

As soon as Takara followed Marina into the small café, she was greeted by a human girl around her age and then handed a very thin object covered with human writing. Her confusion was evident on her face as she looked upon it, unsure of what to do with it. Once the waitress had walked away, she simply shrugged and turned back around to follow Marina toward an empty table, still carrying the strange menu under one arm. She wasn't exactly sure what it was for, but since everyone else had one she felt okay about it.

Once she was seated across from her friend, she watched as the menu was examined for a few moments.
"Umm... I've never eaten human food before, so I'll just take your word about it. I'll just have those, too!" she finally replied, as she opened up her own menu for a second, just as Marina did. "Yeah, we'll each take a hamburger," Marina said kindly to the waitress. "And... uh.... don't worry about my friend here. She's from out of town, and... uh... doesn't understand the 'surfer's lingo' that... the... menus are written in.... yeah...."

The girl felt relieved to have gotten that over with, but she also felt like a moron. True, Takara couldn't read the menu, but that was not the real reason. However, if she were to tell the truth, the waitress would most likely think she was crazy, but at least she didn't seem to suspect anything, at least for now.

Suddenly, a woman standing by the doorway shrieked as the door was knocked down by.... something..... which resembled a giant mutated sea star that could walk on land. It walked through the cafe, tossing a few waiters aside, and terrorizing the customers. Marina looked up at the monster, then back at the waitress at her table, saying, "I know a little martial arts. You get everyone else out of here safely and call the police, and I'll try to hold this thing off until they arrive."

With that, the girl lept up from her table, took a fighting stance in front of the peace, and shouted, Hey, seafood breath! I don't know what the heck you are or where you came from, but you're mine!"

I watched as one of the students attempted to hold off the starfish monster with a few punches and kicks. For a while, that appeared to work, but I knew that she wouldn't last very long...so with that thought in mind, I cried "EMERALD PEARL VOICE!"

The giant starfish turned to look as my pendant opened, revealing the now glowing pearl. I watched as it grew into the shape of a small microphone...but then I felt warm as the pearl's power began to transform me once again.

My T-shirt turned a bright white, and a sparkling green jacket appeared over it. Next, my black pants received a spiraling green stripe, and a dark green bow with an emerald appeared in my hair, completing my transformation.

Hurry, Maya! Maybe the Legend will aid Lady Hanon's child in remembering... Lina suggested.

I'm on it... and I began to sing:

A rolling wind from the sea, in so many colors...
Rolling on, towards the shore and to the sky...
The song I hear in my heart, as the bright sun rises...
Is a song, that I've known, since my youngest days!

At the first sight of the monster, Takara knew immediately that it was associated with the other villians who once terrorized their kingdoms. She was about to rush over to Marina and help, but she suddenly stopped in her tracks and stared at an unbelievable sight.
"Marina!" she cried over to her friend, before pointing toward the waitress who had once served them, and who had now transformed into a Voice Form. She looked closer and noticed a seashell locket tied around her neck just like hers, only it was green.
She's one of the daughters... she thought. She was in such disbelief that she only stood there staring for a few seconds, until her senses finally returned. She then knew exactly what to do.

"OPAL PEARL VOICE!" she cried out, as her locket slowly opened, revealing her shining pearl. Under its glowing light it slowly morphed into a microphone. As Takara grabbed hold of it, her body was suddenly surrounded by a rainbow-colored light, and once it had faded she was left in an entirely new form. She looked like a human, but her face and hair were the same as in her mermaid form. She was now wearing an opalescent outfit consisting of a strapless top and a very frilly skirt, along with gloves, boots, and plenty of added jewelry.

You can help defeat it, Takara! a familiar voice suddenly called inside her head.
Mom?! How are you...? But... I've never done this before! she thought, pausing to listen to what her mother had to say.
It's the power of our pearls. Now go join Maya in singing!
But I don't know the words!
They'll come to you, I promise!

Takara then took a deep breath, concentrated on the monster, and then began to continue on with the melody along with the other mermaid princess. Her mother was right; she somehow knew exactly what to say although she had never sung this song before. So even she had some things to learn about her pearl's powers!

Seven seas together, they are paradise...
That will grant me peace in the midst of the storm...
My broken spirit will rise again and will live forever just to say "I love you!"
The songs of seven countries will unite as one...

"Well, that was easier than I thought!" she said as she turned to face the other mermaid princess with a smile. "Thank you, also, for your help. I was just wondering how--"
Before she had a chance to finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Marina, who apparently did not seem very disconcerted by what had just happened. She found this amusing, and couldn't help but burst out laughing right then and there. For several seconds she just stood there giggling, until she finally regained her composure and attempted to look serious again.
"I think we really showed it a thing or two!" she said as she shook a fist in the air, while glancing over at Maya. She decided not to say anything about her Voice form to Marina, just to see if she would notice her radical outfit change or not. She couldn't wait to explain everything to her, and finally get the chance to talk to the second mermaid princess that she was sent out to find...
