Some of you might remember this thread from a few months ago....and a few of you might also know that this has been a question in my family for generations. So, the question is: what came first, the chicken or the egg? (by egg I mean the egg that comes from a chicken) Wondering why I'm asking such a stupid question?? Well, put it this way....without the chicken, there wouldn't be an egg but without an egg, there wouldn't be a chicken! Confusing eh? You may answer and explain it like some big shot scientist or just answer it like an average guy/gal. Got that? Good, now get answering!

I reckon the chicken came first. If the egg came first, who'd take care of it?

I reckon this goes in OC.

The chicken... the egg wouldn't exist without the chicken. But then again, the chicken wouldn't exist without the egg...

I reckon, the creator of everything, aka God, created the chicken first.

I do hope this thread doesn't become racist...

I believe the egg came first, the great grandmother specie for the chicken hatched an egg with a chicken inside creating a new specie or something like that... so the egg came first.

Being a Christian, I believe the Chicken came first. A few people in my school had this discussion on Friday, most of them thought the Egg came first, so they tried saying the Egg was originally a blob of some sort and etc... o.O

it would be the chicken created from lots of different materials from the earth you could make a egg from those but it would die so chicken first

Oh god! o.o I remember this thread.

Hmmm? Well, I think the chicken came first. I'm not quite sure though! o.0;; *thinks* Ahhh! This subject makes me brain hurt! XD

Seeing as I eat more chicken than eggs, I'm gonna say...the egg! Why? I don't know!

Chicken.
First of all, evolution. An older species came first, then after time, that species adapted into a Chicken, and the animal came from particles in space. Perfectly logical.

Well in terms of the egg other species had eggs before chickens even existed like dinosaures but then dinosaurs were supposed to of evolved into birds so one must of evolved into a chicken, so I'm not saying exactly what the answer is but I hope you can just make up your own **** mind!

I don't think dinosaurs evolved to chickens.....they're way too small. And besides, I think I can prove some of you wrong. If [insert ancient species here that evolved to a chicken] actually evolved to a chicken, where did they come from? Surely they must come from eggs, I think. Or they might be born alive....but I think the ancient species that evolved to a chicken came from eggs cos (it's only a theory, drop your tomatos, please) if they were born alive (like humans), the baby chickens (or chicks, as some might call them) would probably be born alive like their ancestors. *dodges tomatos*

So in other words, here's what came first, second and last.

Egg to [ancient chicken species] to Chicken

So it must be something else. WHO HERE'S A SCIENTIST??? XD

If you say an egg that comes FROM A CHICKEN, of course its chicken first! XDDD

BUt if you said egg that hatches chicken, then I'd say egg.
Animals evolve, and animals have been laying eggs for a long time, by the time they evolved to a chicken, that chicken surely have to hatch from an egg.

It be the chicken cause if de egg came first then how would it keep/run away from predators, there would be be no chickens now that's for sure.......unless early animals were just eggs and stuff that that's impossible *faints* O.o

OMG OMG OMG! *cough cough*

Sorry for sounding like a n00b, but when I saw this I almost went crazy! I drive my friends nuts by asking that same question. I don't knwo what I voted for, because I closed my eyes and picked a random one... o.O

The chicken X3 if it was the egg, chickens would've never been alive o.o; -eggs can't hatch without the warmth from their mother etc. and the egg would've been easily picked off by other predators anyway ^^;

Well, the funny thing is that some scientists say the chicken evolved from T-rex o_O I haven't heard many good theorys why the chicken would have come first so I'm sticking to the egg.

I think it was the egg That came first. I don`t know why thought.

I don't think we have any way of knowing if tha resulting creature from an animal's birth was tha first chicken, tch, or if an almost-chicken-like creature layed tha first egg, tch, so I say both 50-50. Oo;

I don't think the chicken and the egg were two concrete entities at the beginning of their existance. I think they were both one and then just sort of split apart at one point. I've read about chicken eggs once being sea creatures that were protected by egg-shells or something. I guess we can assume they evolved from the earliest forms of life somewhere. Eventually, they found their way to land, where they eventually evolved into chickens, or something to that effect.

I go for the chicken. Not much else to really post 'cause i'm not the scientist type, but certainly I can think that the chicken first evolved a bit.

Well, I think that a more primative form of the chicken first existed... With no chickens, how will there be an egg? <<; Or maybe they evolved. Only God knows the answer. =x;

The Chicken was born so it could make an Egg.=3

I say the chicken came first....why? Well the chicken is the only out of the two that can reproduce. And since an egg doesn't technically make a chicken, it makes a small chick, what that means I don't know..XD Anyway an egg can't reproduce, therefore it cannot begin anything if it has no way to do so...so there...the chicken came first.

the chicken of course duh lol so i guess that is it

I'll have to say it was the egg. The egg was laid by whatever the chicken evolved from (probably some bird that looked nearly exactly like a chicken), and when it hatched a new specie was created. I know some people may disagree with this thought, and I do not wish to offend anyone who does not believe in evolution. This is simply my opinion; I do not want to change anybody's belief.
