Which form do you feel works better?

first is by far better. the ice effect looks like it took quite a while... advanced 3D in PS? amazing.

I prefer the first one, even throught the second is great too!

Very very nice! I like them both, but I would say the second one is a bit better. Great job on both though!

It's called "accident".

Umm I made a thick line, added brushing then polar co-ordinated to get a spiky ring. Then, I used perspective to change the angle. Up to here is still normal.

Then, I selected layer transparency, contracted, then filled in on a new layer, and beveled. Because it's white, only the shadows will show up, and the shadows show up on the bottom. And since it was a spiky ring thingy, when perspective was used, very specific parts became fainter, so it gave the appearance of multiple levels.

I prefer the first one, nice choice of stock. Although I'm not liking the typo.
