August 14
Today! The beginning of high school came swiftly. It seems like summer went by just like that! But then again, I have been doing nothing but studying and training for obvious purposes you know. To become the one with the best image! The one everyone wants to be like; the perfect, wonderful student! But on this day, I fear to tell you…everything I had written, all my expectations, have crumbled, the remains drifting in someone else’s shadow. I have found…someone who rivals my intellect…hard to believe huh? His name is Reese...trying to steal my spotlight! But boy, he has no idea what he’s getting himself into!
September 30
Reese! Reese, Reese, Reese! No one asks me for any help in math…or sports…or…ANYTHING! Am I now the old bike that has lost its shine? I think not. But then, he’s now the senior president, the soccer captain, the one with the most school service, the- you know what? It doesn’t matter.
You should see his fake smile! He’s not going to deceive me with that! I’m not as gullible as those other people…I know his true malicious intentions of ruining my life. I was #1 at everything through my junior year…why is he taking my spot now? When it really matters? Wait till midterms…I’ll get him then!
November 25
By now, I’ve done a few school charities and projects with him. (I’m VICE president…the position that isn’t really noticed…) His smile and overall friendliness were slightly disturbing to me. Was I actually falling into his trap like all the other girls? No. I was NOT one of those mindless magnets that cling to whatever shines. I hope you know that whenever I speak with him, I’m not like this. Oh nononononono. I speak to him in that strange friendliness he does to me. I wonder if that burns him up inside. Midterms are coming soon. Bet he hasn’t even studied yet…
December 10
You should see how desperate Reese is to eliminate me as an opponent. No, as a threat. Those nice conversations he likes to bring up, and the occasional favors he does for me. It’s all very amusing while I begin to find it easier to smile and talk sweetly. Still, my reputation and brilliance like the moon is unnoticed while his shines radiantly like the sun on my beautiful school. If only he knew how I’m turning his own sweet words and gestures against him. Midterms are almost here!
December 20
I arrived at the school amid a vast sea of students. The group seemed to be staring from a post on the bulletin board, to me, and then back. I then heard much murmuring and gasps of awe. A strange yet oh so familiar feeling prickled down my spine as I raced for the bulletin board. And there were the top five scores for the midterm…I was in first. I’d done it! I couldn’t hold back a happy grin of accomplishment and triumph. Boy did I show Reese! He was now second! Second! The students around me then began to congratulate me and still gape in awe. I don’t know why they were gaping. It was obvious I would come out on top. I had longed for this feeling…I had now reached it, even with obstacles in my way.
It was then when Reese showed up. I couldn’t wait to see the look of utter defeat on his face…But it was just the opposite. He glanced at the bulletin, smiled towards me and said sweetly,
“Wow Karli. Congratulations! You must have studied pretty hard.”
That warm feeling suddenly disappeared. He…wasn’t my rival? I had spent all this time obsessing…being totally evil…and yet he was being sincere. I had definitely been on the dark side of the moon then. Before I could respond, the bell rang and everyone trailed off to class.
Short, but to the point :3 I <3 reviews more than anything. Was Reese have bad or good will? My class had a big gender split XD Well, I may make a sequel depending on how well this goes~ Or maybe from another perspective! =D I LOVE REVIEWS! X3
