Well, I have a lvl 23 Murkrow that I busted my a$$ to get (so rare). I got it at lvl 15 and I've been training it in Pokemon Tower (I taught it Thief so it owns the gastlys ;)) but I was jsut wondering if they grow up to be good fighters

Murkrow is definitely worth raising, its defenses aren't that good, but its attack stat is very high. Murkrow is quite deadly with drill peck, actualy. And night shade is a handy move too.

This is now the place to ask if a specific Pokemon is worth training. If anyone is to post a new thread asking this question will have their question answered, and their thread will be closed.

I will also wisk this off to General Games Discussion because this could concern any of the Pokemon games released at the moment.

All of Hitmontop's stats (apart from its sp attack and speed) are above average and unlike most fighting types, its special attack is its highest stat. Hitmontop's movepool is a little limited though, leaving it vulnerable against gastly, haunter and gengar, it can only damage them with sandstorm, thief, pursuit, rockslide and hidden power, with only the last two options being able to deal good damage to gengar etc (and if you want to deal alot of damage with hidden power, you'll need patience, breeding and luck) But it's still worth training up, I think...

Is sudowudoo any good? I have suddenly found a liking for mine.

Shiny Meganium

Yes, Sudowoodo is worth it with the right move set. A bonus in link battle is that lots of people seem to think it's a grass type.

What about an Ampharos? Mine's currently level 41 on Emerald.

First off, let me get this straight--a lvl 100 Caterpie could own the Elite Four. So if you only play ingame, pretty much any poke is worth raising, so I'm gonna do this based on link battles and the like ;).

Murkrow: A pretty poor Poke despite its rarity. I'd strongly suggest to not use it. There are much better flyers out there. And smarty arty, you said that it has a very high attack stat. 85 base atk isn't much, even for a UU....

Hitmontop: You would be much better off with one of the other Hitmons imo.

Sudowoodo: He's a pretty decent UU, but he won't do so hot if your opponent's team is full of OU's and Ubers. And you've gotta be pretty dumb to think it's a grass type lol :P

Amphoros: There are better electrics (Jolteon, Raikou, etc.), but Amphoros is still prolly worth it.

Hope this helps

Still, with a maximum attack stat of 295 and a STABed drill peck, it can do some serious damage...
What about houndour? Is he any good?
Well, houndour does evolve into houndoom, wich has good hp, speed and sp attack. Its attack is good too, but since it gets a STAB bonus from crunch and flamethrower, I think it would be quite wasted to make houndoom a physical sweeper... Houndour is definitely worth training, I'd say...

hey um......is beedrill anygood?

Smarties-chan
November 23rd, 2005, 04:35 PM
With the proper EVs, DVs and nature, I think beedrill could make a decent pokemon. It has decent attack and speed, and can learn a bunch of physical moves and swords dance. I don't reccomend it in link battling unless your opponent doesn't know anything about EVs and movesets though.

Is it worth training an Ursaring?

Pete
November 23rd, 2005, 09:14 PM
Probably, they have decent stats and that. I don't know about their movepool though.

By the way, should I train up my Misdreavus? I haven't used it once since I caught it, probably because I was searching for Raikou.

on houndoom, i trained one for the battle fronteir and they're decent. i taught it fire blast (i added a ppmax), sunny day, solar beam, and bite (it doesn't learn crunch until after level 50. the only problem i find with it is it's defense. its defense is it's only drawback. it gets KOd a lot so i have to rely on my miltank and ampharos 2 win. BTW, are either ariados, ursaring, or pineco worth raising?

Pory2 is an awesome UU poke imo, and it'll prolly do pretty decent in OU. Try this moveset;) :
Porygon2@Leftovers
Modest Nature (+SpAtk, -Atk)
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 128 SpAtk / 128 Def
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Recover
Thunder Wave / Toxic

Manetric is pretty much a Jolteon with lower stats...but it makes a pretty awesome UU.

Umm, is it worth training a Houndour up to a Houndoom?

For Psychic types, it's nice to have, and the Fire type is an extra bonus. But it has good stats overall: good special, good physical, special defense can take some hits but it does have one weakness: low defense, any physical can take it out. But beyond that, it's a good Pokemon to use.

So yeah, you should. For a purely special type.

Shiny Meganium

No, I don't think Sentret/Furret is worth it. It doesn't have too good stats. It is a good HM slave though and it can be taught a variety of attacks.

These two are very similar to eachother, but Lapras is much better imo. This is a pretty awesome Lapras set:
Lapras @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 128 SpAtk / 128 SpDef
Modest Nature
- Confuse Ray
- Sing
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Again, BoltBeam = ownage

Ninjask Can Kick Butt If It's Speed And Attack Is High

Ninjask @ Leftovers
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 264 Speed / 240 Attack
Timid Nature
- Fury Cutter
- Sword Dance
- Double Team
- Return

Double Team + Sword Dance + Fury Cutter...Prepare For Destruction!

Furret is ony good for Trickbanding IMO, so I wouldn't recommend it for anything serious.

Needs More:

@Leftovers
-Return
-Heal Bell
-Shadow Ball
-Thunder Wave

or

@Choice Band
-Return
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Punch
-Brick Break

How about Ditto or Wobbufet?

both are pretty much boring IMO, more so Wobbuffet in-game.

Wobbuffet @ Leftovers
-Destiny Bond
-Counter
-Mirror Coat
-Encore

Ditto might be kinda fun in-game though. Train it and find out.

Is Mantine worth training up?

It has nothing that a better water type can't do better except maybe Haze, and even then Vaporeon does it pretty much better.

uhm...magikarp in the period of 1st and second gym?

Please rephrase that so I can understand.

If it was just Water, not as such but for a Fighting type, yes because there are so few of them. But you will have fun with raising both types, as he can be dependable, although the speed might be a problem. But then that's why God made Quick Claw.

Murkrow is a very Pokemon to have. I've only have one, because its not one of my favorites, even though its strong. I remember when I had one, I got it to a pretty high level and it pwned. ^^;

What bothers me.... is that Pikachu doesn't have a strong defense. I mean, its so adorable, and yet, unless you have many MANY items that'll raise its Defense, it doesn't last long against strong attacks. As much as I love Pikachu...One has to train the h3ll out of it, and even then it still can't withstand that much. T-T

Edit: Hey! 200th Post... and it was about Pikachu -^^-

Is it worth it to level Omanyte to Omastar?

Drew
January 3rd, 2006, 03:27 AM
Omastar would have a great defense, if you really plan on keeping Omanyte in your party.... I'd take the time to evolve it. I'd say its worth it if you plan on keeping it with you for a long time.
