View Full Version : Is it just me?

Is it just me or are the Gamecube platform games not as good as the original Gameboy(whatever) games? I just don't enjoy them as much as I do the good old fashioned, catch 'em, raise 'em, battle 'em stuff.

Digiko
November 25th, 2005, 05:03 AM
I second this. The reason I didn't enjoy most of the Gamecube ones was because I disliked the plot to no end. x_x; In Colosseum you couldn't even get a small glimpse of wild Pokemon..D=

Controller Freak
November 25th, 2005, 03:30 PM
They need a platform walk-around wild pokemon catching game! Like we had first expected!

Digiko
November 25th, 2005, 03:32 PM
I agree about that. Sometimes the original kinds get boring but.. yeah. xD; I think XD had catching wild Pokemon but it wasn't quite like the original.

Tyler
November 25th, 2005, 03:37 PM
Yes XD you can catch Pokemon. But only at PokeSpots.

I would love to see a 3D styled pokemon game that plays just like the GB/GBC/GBA games but all 3Dness. =O

Exactly! May that day come soon! Because that would just plain rock!

nintendo is gay. we expect so much but they give us what we dont want. a gameboy pokemon game meets stadium.. -.-

OMG I HATE YU ROFL LOL NINTENDO>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

November 26th, 2005, 02:59 PM
Wow. Just because they didn't meet expectations with their Gamecube games, you suddenly hate them with all your heart, Roffle??? What about all the other games Nintendo put out, huh?!

I did admire Genius Sonority (Colosseum and XD developer) on their quest to make Pokémon a 3D RPG. Well, the fact that I anticipated that the battle system was gonna be the same as the Stadium series helped me there...

If Game Freak has the manpower, I do believe that they will make a better 3D game. But, I don't think they can change the game entirely, not without more time and power.

But that doesn't mean I'll stop dreaming!

i liked pokemon XD more than colosseum and the GBA games.
IMO, the GBA games now are crap compared to gsc though :-\

oomg hate was so overpowered. maybe a slight grudge would suit.

nintendo reads info about fans wanting a 3d gba game. and what do we get? XD AND COLLESUEUM AND STADIUM SAGA ROFL

Ummmmmm...Roffle?
I don't think we are alowed to say "gay." (I only said it for example.)
I Agree with you, DQLE.
Lol.

ROFFLE GET REAL

pokemon games so far on 3d game consoles have been terrible and ntohings going to change the opinion on it.

what do you mean by gay exactly, i can use whatever word, say RASBERRY AND i could be calling you a ******* idiots. i mean gay as in stupid, dumb etc.

so dont assume ANYTHING ~_^

lol if you report me that would suck so much. i want to be part of this community and you'll be discriminating against me too ~!

Wha???

ROFFLE GET REAL
Are you talking to yourself?

Anyways, Roffle, if you really want to be a part of the Community, please refrain from arguing about off-topic comments. That helps with your reputation, as well as keeps with the subject.

...

Well, the 3D games didn't meet ALL my expectations I can say. I wouldn't call them terrible, though. If Nintendo really wanted to do something stupid, they could remake the GB games into 3D all the way. Comon, who wants to run through a game again, except with "enhanced" graphics?

Oh, and we can call others anything, so as long as the person doesn't find it offensive. (with exception to curse words. nobody likes curse words) If it's a large corporation, I don't think they'll care much...

OH FOR.....nutcrackers!

was i mocking anyone, NO!

if you say rofl out loud is sounds like roffle. say it before you ask.

i am not going off-topic in my posts because in my posts also contain stuff related to the topic. so ha!

also it is your fault for taking offense to "curse words". lmao grow up.

what really would be good for 3d pokemon games is when you come face to face in a pokemon wild battle, you could actually..omg throw the pokebalL!

was i mocking anyone, NO!
I never said anything about that. And if it's corporations, I really don't care.

f you say rofl out loud is sounds like roffle. say it before you ask.
But isn't it easier just to type "ROFL" instead of "ROFFLE"? It's two letters shorter!

i am not going off-topic in my posts because in my posts also contain stuff related to the topic. so ha!
Yes, but you added things that weren't. Comon, only one line was on topic.

also it is your fault for taking offense to "curse words". lmao grow up.
Hey, who said I took offense? I'm not concerned about myself. What about all the other little kids who go on this forum? I wouldn't want to be accused to teaching an innocent kid some bad words.

And see? Isn't it easier to type "LMAO" instead of "LAMAO"? (hopefully, little kids can't decipher that...)

Anyways...

what really would be good for 3d pokemon games is when you come face to face in a pokemon wild battle, you could actually..omg throw the pokebalL!
See, that's what I said before. I'd like to have the trainer to interact in the game more than nowadays, but that'd require massive re-programming. That, and it doesn't sound like it's good for the GBA, which is where Pokémon thrives. If they did decide to do so, the game may be so radically different that the game might even be worse, with more complications and all.

Wow, did my topic suddenly get turned into a flame fest?! Anyway, you are actually going against some of the forum rules with your language, Roffle. Just thought you oughta know. Below is a direct quote of the rules. Please check the link to the forum rules at the top of the page.

You cannot use 'gay' in any demeaning way. That includes bashing homosexuals, or using it negatively at all.

You cannot swear or censor bypass. You cannot try and make out a swear word in manners such as d@mn, etc.

The Pokemon RPGs aren't bad, but they aren't my style. I think we should have both the RPG and a more traditional Pokemon game for the Gamecube.

In my opinion: The console pokemon games will be just like the original gameboy ones. They will start of extremely basic, but will eventually grow into something that us fans would naver imagine. Maybe nintendo will eve give us online play. It's not necessarily need, but take this for an example: An online pokemon world where you can design your own character and upload your favorite teams. You could travel around a 3D world and fight other trainers from around the world. There could even be contest and tournaments. That would be my ideal game. But for now, I think Nintendo is working with what they have. Just wait, soon enough we'll be having real online battles.

......

You are all forgetting one of the main joys of the GB games--THE PORTABILITY. You could go anywhere with a game, find another trainer, and trade/battle right then and there..and Nintendo realized this & is building on it (Wireless Adapter, WI-FI). If you had a GCN version, tough,...could you really picture carrying something like THAT around all over the place, getting a generator to power it, having a screen, etc...? That's why they didn't make a GCN game like the GBA ones...Perhaps once the Revolution is released and its worldwide network is finally up, THEN we'll have Pokemon games like what SalamanceLover08 mentioned.

I agree with you, I think the 3D is awesome, but I do enjoy the gameboy games better... Now if they took one of the gameboy games, turned it 3D and released on Gamecube (or the Revolution), that would totally freaking awesome... though that would take up soooo much memory! x___x

Controller Freak
December 11th, 2005, 06:19 PM
About the memory thing, maybe it would come with a new memory card like Animal Crossing did.

Oh, while we're on the subject, have you seen those new Revolution controllers? Does anyone else not like the looks of them?

SalamanceLover08
December 12th, 2005, 04:44 AM
I can't stand how they look. Sure Nintendo has come up with some pretty revolutionary stuff in the past, but this won't last, i think they really dropped the ball.

WEll, good things can't last forever =/. I blame it on the anime trend that is not having good names/scripts that only entertain asian people.

Originally, the console games are just like a kind of "expansion" to the Game Boy games. The stadium saga was meant as a way to play multiplayer with better graphics. I do like Colosseum because leveling up is tedious and I do like the Shadow Pokemon system. It was just extremely easy. I still haven't played XD yet, but it's an excellent improvement on Colosseum. Perhaps the next generation will be 3D and online, and that's what people are looking for.

Controller Freak

Coliseum is ok. I just wish they had games more like the orignal. And better Revolution controllers.

December 15th, 2005, 04:11 AM
To tell you the truth. I like the Cube games better. I mean it is different then the GBAs one. I mean the GBA ones are all the same. YOu play Masterquest. Get a pokemon. Capture pokemon and battle gyms. Do a HeroSave and tada. Game over. The only game that is good right now on GBA is FR/LG and E. Just becasue of the extras.

The XD and Cols are different. You on a HeroSave plot. THe whole story is different and all. NOt just you catching pokemon but you doing more then just figth gyms. It is so different. What I don't like was the 3-D grafpics. I wish they use C-shading like in Zelda:WW so it looks kind of like the anime or GBA games.

I agree with Charizard_Maa. I like the gamecube games.

I Reckon it depends on the game, Pokemon is better on GBA but i'd rather Metroid and stuff like that on GC.

Mewtwoisabeast
December 17th, 2005, 08:44 PM
each set of games was good in its own merrit. the whole point of the gba games was to go through the gyms. (you kind of just get sucked into being the hero) but each one has its drawbacks.

and i guess im the only one that realizes the full potential of the revolution controler for what nintendo is planing for the system they couldent have made a better controller. (oh and if you just turn it on its side you get the originol nes controller)

That old weird controller that started to hurt after a while? Maybe you'll be able to you the DS as a controller but for the love of God don't bring that thing back...

It means that it needs to bring back the gym challenges like they had in Stadium and Stadium 2. And I was recalling how I had to face Misty's Starmie at lvl 100

I seriously hope they have a good GBA-like Pokemon RPG for the Revolution. They could even use it's niftly little Wi-Fi feature...

They could either enhance the Pokemon experience, or completely screw it up...

Drew
January 3rd, 2006, 03:48 AM
Yes.... I'm praying for a 3-D version of the Gameboy games on the Revolution....My life would be complete.

January 6th, 2006, 03:26 PM
A real Pokemon RPG is what everyone wants on the Gamecube or Revolution.. (including myself). I honestly don't see why Nintendo hasn't at least tried to make a "true" RPG similar to the Gameboy games. Pokemon Colosseum/XD is an interesting start.. but come on Nintendo... I know you can do better then that.

Well no offense to them, but some times the Japanese screw up pretty bad. Like the scripts they make up for Anime shows.
