Prolouge : Where the Kia was born

The ocean waves thrashed to the shore as I walked along it. It was almost time... The lights from the road really had no effect on the beach, if you faced the ocean there was nothing, just water and darkness. As I turned my head to the livelyness of the city, light slowly made it self know again. Two worlds... Two totaly differnt worlds coexisting with each other, yet people are blind to the truth. They have been living in the light so long that perhaps they canot see whats right in front of there faces. My head turned toward the dimed moon over the waters. Maybe I've just walked in the dark to much... I shook my head and let out a sigh. Its almost time... I must'nt forget... I continued my stroll down the beach untill finaly I heard it, a high pitch screech that seemed the whole world could hear, but it was only me. The portal has opened, just like he said. A fog hovered about ten yards off the shore. It was dark, darker than the rest of the ****ed ocean. I took in a deep breath, "It's time." and rushed out towards the Darkness, untill I was devoured by the haze. The haze spew me out in to the other world. It was once a world of hope, glory, power and peace. Now you couldn’t even imagine that this… Filthy, horible place was once the Shining light of the realms. The place where the Kia was born. My body quivered at the thought as I picked myself up and looked around only to see I was alone, in this vast, dark, sandy desert. “There late.” I said to myself letting out a sigh. The winds began to pick up blowing the sand in my face, and causing me to be more alert. Shifting winds were almost always a sign of trouble, and in this place trouble was never far behind any Kiater. My fists tightened as my range of sight grew shorter by the second. The darkness crept forth in pieces as if it were alive. Pitch black creatures hurled out of the darkness, as they did I summoned all my energy into my fists and they burts into a dark blue aura. I raised my arm to there level shooting bits of the aura out at them while they were still in the distance. One by one they fell back into the darkness after being shot, only to return with more forces. “**** IT, where the hell are they.” I knew I couldn’t hold back the Shadows for long, esspeicaly if they keep coming back. The Shadows continued to raid forth untill they were finaly close enough to attack. My fists swong back and forth, but there was just to many. There claws began to dig into my flesh ripping apart my abdominal muscel first, and then simutainusly one gouged my eyes, while the other bit in to my chest. They did’nt want to kill me. No they wanted me to feel every bit of the pain, and so I did. I was beaten beyound reconnishion and only wished to be dead. I felt a slight movement as if one of the shadows raised its claw above my face. Finaly… They were going to finish the job. My journey was over, and all the battles I fought were in vain. One last wimper escaped from my mouth. To think that this was where the Kia was born. The claw came chrashing down on my skull crushing it in, killing me on impact… My life was just one, of many others. They will continue the war. They will fight. And they will ultamately suffer the same fate I did. It’s just the balance of life. Its what happens when you walk in the darkness just a bit to long. Its what happens when you walk… Where the Kia was born.

Chapter 1: Illusions, Death, and Darkness

The chill of the night air sent shivers down my spine. “Such a beautiful night for hunting.” I said to myself with a smirk on my face. The gel that sparked my dark hair was frozen in place, and the communicator held in my ear had lost power hours ago. Shadows had found its way though a realm portal just a bit earlier and now was louse on Earth. God knows what happened to the portal closers, they should’ve had it closed in no time. Nevertheless it puts me on Shadow hunting duty, so I’m not complaining. My thoughts scrambled on in to the night causing me to be paranoid of every leaf falling, and branch swaying in the park. I had reason to fear, but this is what I always wanted to do. “Walk in the darkness, in order to brighten the light.” I quoted one of the most famous, and my personal favorite Kiater. He died just last year in a tragic Shadow incident that shook the Kia war to its very core. Some say walking in the darkness, merely corrupts the light, or some other non-sense like that. Ever sense Nathander died the Kiaters feuded amongst themselves on how they should continue the war. I want to finish what Nathander started, “One day I will.” I promised myself and family that I would, and I never break promises. At that statement I started noticing the moving lumps in the darkness. “One, two… Three, four, five, six….Seven, eight.” I counted the Shadows. There was just too many of them, nothing like what was expected. I nudged my shoulder against the communicator, and then remembered how it lost its power supply. My hand reached down for my Aura gun hanging on the right side of my waist. I slowly clenched my fingers around the grip and pulled it up trying not to draw attention to myself. “Little bastards.” I yanked the gun up and went trigger happy on the lumps in the Shadows. I herd them scream there horrible screams, and laughed at there torture. I had finally killed my first batch of Shadows, and was full of pride with my accomplishment.
“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO, LEON!” My crew commander’s voice came from behind me. I turned around in triumph.
“Did you see me? I did it. I finally found the Shadows, eight of them. Killed all the little bastards.” His face was full of fear.
“You just shot and killed a family.” He said looking at me in disgust. “A completely innocent family...” My head turned to where I just released my fire. The darkness began to fade and the lumps… They were…
“Oh my God what have I done?” I dropped to my knees. There on the ground laid three little boys, a little girl, there Mom and Dad, and an old lady and old man. “I’ll be arrested by the realms.” My commander was frozen in disbelief.
“I have to detain you…I have no choice.” My head shook, Ill never be able to fight against the Shadows now.
“There’s got to be another way…” My eyes filled with tears. Still in disbelief.
“I’m sorry, if there was, I would give it to you.” My thoughts scrambled again, and I rushed to a conclusion, as adrenaline pumped through my veins.
“There is another way…” I wiped the tears from my eyes as I stared back in to the darkness. Sirens started to ring, getting closer and closer to the park. “Sorry Drew. A promise is a promise.” I sprang up and spun around shooting Drew in the chest multiple times, sending him flying back. “No hard feelings.” I turned again and ran off into the night.

Chapter 2: The last day of my life

The halls buzzed with worry and discomfort at the InterRealm HQ. A series of portals to the Shadow lands were to open up later in the night. Just my luck, commander duties once again. I walked down the hall with my hand on my head. Nearly bumping into other Kiater’s who were in the same rush I was in. we needed the finest Kiater’s around for this job even if it meant using shadow walker Kiater’s. I myself have always been against Nathander and his views. Just look where it got him. Now thanks to him we have to worry about our own turning on us. After all the darkness does tempt with overwhelming power. I turned into the door on my left. Letting out a sigh I began to talk to the Kiater’s who were already in the room. “Sorry for the delay, as you all no things have been getting pretty hectic ever sense the Shadows raided Northern Gadge.” I pulled out a chair and placed a small green disk on the table. The four turned to the center of the table, as the disk began to hover and emit a hologram of Earth. “Three portals have begun to open on Earth. As you already know we can’t let this happen.” Three spots light up on the map, two were a bit inland of New Jersey, and the other was along the shore. “Jason, you’ll take the shore,” He was the only shadow walker among the three portal closers and he had plenty of experience with the Shadows and there home realm, so it was best to send him on his own. “Kyle, and Grant, you’ll take the inland portals.” They all nodded in agreement. “You leave at six; the portal opens at six thirty. Make sure it’s closed by six forty five.” My head turned toward the newest edition to my team. “Leon,” I spoke out with a sigh. “This will be your first routine so I’m not going to assign you something big like portal closing, or Shadow hunting. James and I will just be showing you the ropes. The only reason why we are going tonight is to make sure Earth remains unaware of this whole mess.”
“I understand, Drew.” He replied in a respectful way.
“That is all.” I said leaning back in my chair, as the group walked out. I closed my eyes and let out another sigh. In two more hours I would have to risk my life again. I smiled at the thought, and even let out a small chuckle. I had fought Shadows plenty of times before and I’m still alive. I will never die by the hands of Shadows…No; I'm way too clever for them. I won’t even be in combat tonight… Then why am I so worried… I shook my head then held it in my hands. What seemed to be minutes turned into two hours and it was time to go. I grabbed my Aura gun, and place my communicator in my ear. ”Let’s do this.” The portal closers should be waiting for there portals to open now, if all goes smooth I’ll be back home in an hour…If… I shook my head again. I’ve got to stop thinking that way. I met up with James and Leon at the teleported. Not a word was said. Everyone was too tired from all that had been going on. We were teleported to a park in-between the three portals. Any time now the portals should be closing and the portal closers would be back. But they didn’t show up. Something was wrong and everyone knew it. James stared down at his comp watch in fright.
“Another portal’s been opened.”
“Where?” I turned in confusion.
“Right here, some where in this park. We have to close it right away.”
“Split up, if you find it call in with the communicator.” I demanded, running off into the park. For god sakes there are peopling here… This isn’t good, this isn’t good at all. I ran all over looking for it, speculating in my head what would happen if Earth became aware of the Realms. All of a sudden I herd the faint sound of an Aura gun. “James, Leon what’s going on?” There was no answer. GOD **** IT. I took off running full speed in the directions in witch the shots were fired from. Leon was standing on top of a hill over a family of eight with his Aura blaster on hand. “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO, LEON!” I screamed in fear. He tuned around facing me with the most triumphant look on his face.
“Did you see me? I did it. I finally found the Shadows, eight of them. Killed all the little bastards.”
“You just shot and killed a family.” I said in disgust “A completely innocent family...” His head turned back around.
“Oh my God what have I done?” He dropped to his knees. “I’ll be arrested by the realms.” I was frozen in disbelief. How could he of done this.
“I have to detain you…” I can’t belive this is happening”I have no choice.” He shook his head “There’s got to be another way…” I began to think of everything I could.
“I’m sorry, if there was, I would give it to you.” Why is all of this happing?
“There is another way…” He caught my attention but lost it when I heard the faint sound of sirens. “Sorry Drew. A promise is a promise.” He sprang up and spun around shooting me in the chest multiple times, sending me flying back. “No hard feelings.” He turned again and ran off into the night. My breathing was heavy, and my thoughts were mixed. What’s going to happen with the portal? Why did my own crew member just shoot me? Why am I condemned to die with these thoughts? Earth would soon know about the realms, and there’s nothing I can do about it. I have failed, and to think it wasn’t the Shadows that did me in. No, it was my very own crew member… I began to cough up blood, and the world around me began to drift away. At least it wasn’t the Shadows that killed me. Blackness came over my face as I made my last thoughts, and with a loud hiss and a big claw to the skull I was killed. I guess there really is no hope when a dieing man can’t even receive his one wish…
