Just the original and the Cell saga.

And yeah, you can request torrents here as long as the show isn't airing on TV at the moment and as long as the episode hasn't aired yet. So you can ask for Naruto but it'd have to be an episode that hasn't aired in the US yet.

The thing is, I thought Black Cat was just recently new in Japan o__O don't they like, wait for some eps to air there or something? Like with Pokemon?

Either that or its not as new as I thought XD

Ryoutarou
December 11th, 2005, 02:41 AM
Yeah, episode ten is just airing this week. Depending on how long it'll run is how they make their choices sometimes. Black Cat is based off a 20 volume manga, but I think it's only going to run 26 episodes since it's from Gonzo...I think, and they only make anime that go up to 30 episodes.

Neko64
December 11th, 2005, 02:44 AM
I knew it. So i'm not crazy XD *brick'd*

Gonzo? Never heard of it. Meh, its probably like how Wolf's Rain was; 20 some eps and only 2 manga, only the other way around X3

And why would they make Anime that only goes up to 30 eps? That kinda sucks :/ But its their decision..

Ryoutarou
December 11th, 2005, 02:48 AM
Yeah, they make a lot of anime, but long anime series...I really don't think they've ever done anything that goes pass the basic 30 episodes. Sometimes they do seasons to show, like how Tsubasa has 26 episodes at the moment and next year season two will come along and it'll be a little over 50 episodes at the time.

Neko64
December 11th, 2005, 02:54 AM
Really? Well I thought you were talking about Anime they make in general..Cause if the show you mentioned has more then 50 episode coming then it certainly is past the 30 ep mark o__O;; But I really don't think seasons matter and thats probably why.

I didn't even think they had seasons in Japan, or is that just for Pocket Monsters?

Ryoutarou
December 11th, 2005, 02:56 AM
Seasons are hard to define over there. Sometimes the shows have a set episode number, other times it'll go as long as it gets good ratings and sells well enough.

13
26
39 (Haven't seens this one as of yet)
52
Numbers that are somewhat close to the season numbers
Forever (as with stuff like Naruto, One Piece, Konjiki no Gash Bell, Inuyasha (which has ended)

12
20
26
35
50-52

Usually if a show runs for more than 52 episodes, it'll be one of those forever type shows like Naruto, Inuyasha and other shows like that. If a show runs for more than 26 episodes it'll usually go all the way to 50

That's also the way I tend to separate seasons; though in animes that have arcs I seperate them by arc and not season, even if the arcs greatly vary in length.

Speaking of Inuyasha and anime endings, we should be coming up on Shinjitsu no Uta soon for those of us who watch it nightly on adult swim. It's my favorite ending, so I'm glad I'll get to see it again <_<;

And does anyone think Inuyasha'll be back next week now that s-CRY-ed is over? Or are they really that far behind on the dubbing?

Asura Nirosuki

Every part of the show and the movie...happened for a reason.
Even most didn't understand anything Hideaki Anno wanted to show the whole world something. His four year depression wasn't for anything when he created it all...

But don't Ask me for anwsers. I didn't Direct the show or know the true meanings.

Ryoutarou
December 12th, 2005, 03:54 AM
I still don't know why people put thought into it. Anno had a mental break down during the mid section of the series and more or less went mad...so most of what's in there would only make sense in the most twisted ways. Like the whole Ritsko and Shinji thing...

*searched* This is what I got...

During World War II the entire Japanese nation was mobilized. The people were forced to conform to the government's demands or pay the ultimate price. According to Frederik Schodt's book, Manga Manga: The World of Japanese Comics, those who failed to cooperate were punished by "preventive detention, bans on writing, and social ostracism, while those who recanted were rewarded with rehabilitation programs and support from the community...artists who had spent most of their lives criticizing the government did an about-face and offered wholehearted support to the militarists" (Schodt, 55).

Around 1940, many organizations for artists and cartoonists were formed. Among them were the New Cartoonists Association of Japan (Shin Nippon Mangaka Kyokai) and the New Cartoonists Faction Group (Shin Mangaha Shudan). During that time, the government used the few remaining cartoonists, who were not banned from working or who were not in the army, to influence the people through their artwork by creating comic strips filled with propaganda to use against the nation's enemies.

The Master Brings Life to Animation:

Back in Japan, after World War II, a young aspiring artist named Osamu Tezuka became a cartoonist and released his first work Shintakarajima (known in English as "New Treasure Island"). As a child, Tezuka was a fanatical fan of Walt Disney's early animations. Many were impressed by Tezuka's original style. However, it was not until Tezuka released his ultimate work Tetsuwan Atomu (Astro Boy) that he achieved success; he was pronounced "the Father of Manga and Anime".

When Tezuka made a name for himself in the industry, he managed to establish his own production company in 1962. He formed Mushi Productions, where he released his best work, Astro Boy. With Astro Boy, Many recognized Tezuka's original style and approach that was new to the entire industry. The style of his illustrations and characters came from French and German cinema. His characters exploded with life and emotion, and his stories would unfold themselves on hundreds of pages. By 1963, Astro Boy crossed international borders and was premiered on NBC stations all over the US and was still successful with American audiences.

After the success of Astro Boy, Tezuka released another work, Jungle Taitei (Kimba the White Lion). There was much controversy in the past about this anime after Disney released a similar version with the movie The Lion King with Simba as the main character. Although Disney denies this, many believe that Disney stole the anime and recreated it with their own version. (To learn more about the conflict between Disney and Tezuka visit Tezuka's "Jungle King" and Disney's "Lion King").

Forgive me if it is not true, I am not an expert -.-

I think Sailor Venus got a bigger role in the manga. So Sailor Venus fans would probably like the manga more than the anime.

If I can find it, I'll give it a try.......I happen to like the old Japanese live action movies, anyway...I watched the Godzilla marathon on Sci Fi on and off yesterday x_x;

Okay, so I just read the first volume of Bleach, and don't kill me, but I wasn't impressed...is it just going to be Ichigo fighting a slightly different hollow with a slightly different plot twist each chapter? Because that's the signal it's giving me right now...I just don't want to invest more time in something that's going nowhere is all <_<;

Ryoutarou
December 24th, 2005, 09:52 AM
Actually that movie's new, it came out just two years ago.

Bleach gets a lot better, it suffers from an ungodly long middle arc, but it's still really good. The art is different, the story does get a lot better, it's not just Ichigo fighting hollows as they're going to get pushed out of the story around volume 5/6

Chairman Kaga
December 24th, 2005, 02:36 PM
1000+ pages of hollow-battling, then the long middle arc you mentioned...I'm not sure I can take that o_O; But if you say the story gets better I have noting to lose by ordering more issues from the library. That is, if I don't think of some other manga to get into before then <_<; The art seems pretty standard to me, I didn't see it as very different if at all different.

digi-kun
December 24th, 2005, 08:49 PM
skip straight to the volume then XD you really only have to see the hollow previous to that arc to get something they talk about, but even that's kinda irrelivant

There was only one of them?

IYO what do you think of the anime influced Boondocks?

Chairman Kaga
December 28th, 2005, 12:19 AM
Yes, only one in the entire region x_x;

I wouldn't consider the Boondocks anime or even anime-influenced because of the fact that since we're so deprived of American animation that isn't complete crap, anything that's done in a superior style is automatically called anime.

As for what I think of it; I don't like it as it's stereotypical......and I can't say I was ever a fan of Aaron Magruder's comic strip anyway.

Gah......I'm so mad at ebay, even though this isn't their fault. I wanted to get a set of NGE figures with my Christmas money, but all they seem to have are Rei and Asuka in fantasy clothes and sex positions; basically the deluxe pedophile collection. They don't have anything that seriously represents the characters as they are on the show =/ I suppose I'll just buy the six-pack of s-CRY-ed figures instead.

She was nothing more than a pawn though. o.O I mean...aside from saying "Stellar won't die...?" " will protect Stellar...?" She didn't actually [i]do much else. Her twin sister would have made a much better character if she had made it into the series as planned. She got used left and right by everyone, even Shin as he saw her as merly a replacement for his sister. Because of the way that they aged, she was basically a child.

January 24th, 2006, 02:29 AM
LimeWire is a program that you pay for with your credit card..it costs $20 and you only pay once ^^;;;

I connects to the network, and it's split up into several categories. Since you want movies, you would click on "Videos" and where it says "title" you just put the name on. Then, a bunch of hits will come up, and you just Double-click on what you want, and it will start downloading. If you want to preview it to make sure it is the right thing, go to the little window that opens when you download and Right-click on what you are downloading. Near the bottom, it should say, "Preveiw." Hit that and you can get a preivew of what you are downloading.

Hope that wasn't too technical and I hope it helps you out ^^;;;

If I find something to be an engaging story, I find little reason to be critical. As long as it doesn't sound like One Piece I tend to really like it; I just believe in the beggars can't be choosers axiom and the fact that total realism isn't necessary in all aspects of an anime for it to be a quality production.

Subbed it just something I'm not used to.

Chairman Kaga

Yes, my definition of filler is very loose; just because a story is self-contained and can begin and end in the span of thirty minutes, I don't see it as inferior for not adding anything to the overall plot. I prefer slow, drawn-out character development. 26 episodes often seems too little for me, especially in anime that I know for a fact could maintain their level of quality with more than what is produced.

Inuyasha is boring, how else do you think the manga went for so long? It's not because of some non existent "ground breaking" story, it's because Takahashi can't write endings for crap. She dragged the series too much, the plot hasn't moved in almost two years.

Chairman Kaga
January 29th, 2006, 11:21 PM
If a manga isn't profitable, it ends; you should take issue with the legions of people who apparently still enjoy it. I just don't understand why some people believe an anime is inferior if it isn't groundbreaking; I think that it shows a short attention span to want to have every anime over very quickly with the story revealed in overly-rapid progression; it's not a crime to want to enjoy something for the sheer entertainment value -_-

They forgot what makes a story good, they almost always go for style over substance. I don't mind normal anime, I love them, I just hate it when people say Inuyasha is so deep and that nothing like it had ever been done before. It's aggravating to see people just write off anything made before the digital animation age just because the animation seems dated or the main characters aren't women with racks bigger than Inuyasha's sword. The reason why most anime today are short is because the animation companies don't believe that people can follow a story (original story, not manga) for more than one year. It sucks to see people would rather take SEED Destiny's ending over Zeta Gundam's, which was more than just fan wanking and actually well written.

Keroro Gunso is great and it's nowhere near ground breaking, and it's nowhere near short. It's got over 90 episodes. It's a funny show, it's story plays out nicely and doesn't hit you over the head with deep plot every other episode. People take it at face value, fans of other shows usually try to make shows something that they aren't. They do it with Wing and it's pseudo politics, they do it with SEED, and they do it with Inuyasha. It's an okay anime, it's the fans that grate me to no end because they want to find something that isn't there.

As for Inuyasha's manga sales, it's been dipping for almost five years, since before the anime even started. The only reason it even runs now is because the person writing it has a lot of credit from her older, better work.

Supreme Edgeboy Max

Um, no idea where the Torrents come from, but I know how to use them. You need the BitTorrent software. First you download the Torrents, then you access those using the BitTorrent software. This starts up a download that may take ages or seconds, depending on your internet connection speed.

http://www.cccp-project.net/

Go to that site.

There's a good chance you could have another codec pack installed, so download the Insurgent from there and run it. If it returns any codec packs, either go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all of them, or ask somebody else to do it for you.

Then download the appropriate version from that site. If you use Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows 2003, click the 'WinXP/Win2K' link. If you use Windows '98, Windows '95, or any older Windows versions, click the 'Win9x/WinNT' link.

Install it with the default settings, then simply double click the file, and it should play fine. (Assuming you have a decent computer, that is. You'll know when you watch the file - if the audio is off-sync with the video, you need to upgrade your computer before you watch the episodes properly.)

I have to say that my favorite was the Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal OVA, the story is awesome and the story and plot are awesome. I agree that FMA is a great anime, I think it was #1 on some list I saw on the animenewsnetwork.

The Samurai X OVAs?

I didn't like Reflection that much besides the fight with Enishi but I thought Trust and Betrayal was an awesome OVA. It explained Kenshin's past quite well, I had always wondered how he got the scar.

I'd have to say .Hack//SIGN, mainly because it had BEAUTIFUL character developement and the BGM was supurb.

Tsubasa Chronicle would fit into that category too, but that series hasn't ended yet.It has good characetr background - the BGM is excellent too, done by the same composer as .Hack//SIGN.

Syaoran-Kun- Yeah, the ending was crappy, I just pretended it never happened and I just tend to go with the manga's ending instead.

Has there ever been fillers that were actually good? I'm just asking because most of the filler episodes I've seen weren't really good but there is always the exception.

Hmm...so DBZ is back on Cartoon Network, but no longer the uncut version...to my displeasure, I was surprised to hear how different the original dub was. Completely unpolished; less feeling, felt all-around more amateur. I'm still going to watch it, though; admittedly I've been waiting for quite a long time to see the conclusion of the Frieza arc, though they did completely skip the last half of the Ginyu Battles to the time that Goku fights Frieza...bah

No there isn't an English language version yet, but they did just anounce the English vioce cast not to long ago. As for subtitling, well some of it was a bit confusing to me also, but that was only because I never played the FFVII game, so I didn't get most of the references. Tifa had dumb lines in the movie, but Cloud was well written IMO.I was roffling when Tifa was all happy and all after Cloud "defeats" the Kadaj dude, and the subtitles were "CLOUD CAN DO ANYTHING! :D"

The plot is confusing if you don't know about the prior movie .. I hadn't watched it, and it took a while for me to realize that Cloud had defeated something before this movie, and the tons of orphan children were a result of something that happened..

Mononoke-Hime's a pretty good movie. Probably the most violent that Miyazaki's ever made considering he really only likes to make things with as little violence as possible. It's about a princess and a boy who's had curse placed on him. The boy leaves his village to try and find a cure and then gets involved in a way between the forest spirits and a village of humans.

I actually could have gotten NGE platinum on ebay for $40 when I purchased my HK version, but the only difference was that the two movies were included with the HK edition and since they're so fracking expensive on ebay (usually as much for the pair as it is for the entire 26 epiode set) that tempted me into buying it. I've actually had a lot of success with HK DVDs; my Samurai Champloo and s-CRY-ed sets are of the highest quality...just, you can't always get lucky, I suppose XD The only reason I even bother to buy DVDs are that it's impossible to download on my computer, and since I don't have a high-quality laptop or something more personal than this giant, clunky thing, I prefer to see my anime on television instead of the computer...

Yeah, Cowboy Bebop perfect collection got bargain basement there for a while...I got a legitimate copy on ebay for $25 XD

Ryoutarou
April 9th, 2006, 03:19 AM

Chairman Kaga
April 9th, 2006, 03:34 AM
Well, since I'm sort of an indiscriminate fanboy as far as NGE is concerned, I still had to have them both XD

I paid $30, but it's down to $25 most places on ebay now...since I got it about a day or two after it appeared on ebay demand was high, and, of course, prices were raised. There are problems with screen formatting, though, on all of them you have to physically turn subtitles off on the remote because they forgot to put a feature for that on the main menu, and you have to edit the screen proportions because it's automatically set to make it full-screen instead of widescreen, so it looks pixelated unless you change it. Otherwise, it's completely perfect.

If I don't get good internet at college I may just start buying random HK series I come across XD

I'm watching Trigun for the first time, and it's one of the better shows I've seen; only someone very masterful could combine western, sci-fi, and the Rurouni Kenshin-esque overtones and make it as perfect as it is...speaking of which, I know my next theme is going to be Trigun, but I can't decide between Meryl Stryfe and Millions Knives. Which would look better? o_O

And my mom threw away my Faye Valentine figure when I was at school today...she finally saw it and apparently freaked out because of the way she's dressed. I'm considering whether or not to make her pay for the rest of the Gashapon set that it came from or not...but I probably will, though, because I'm just that angry.

I think it's partially for any "what the heck?" factor ("Ode to Joy" as a background music for an emergency situation? Yeah, I was laughing at that, sorry ^_^; ), and partially just to see what happens.

I've still got some Bleach to watch, and even Gundam Seed Destiny - I'm so far behind with some of the series I have that it's not even funny.

I'd say go for Meryl, but that's only because I'm not much of a Knives fan. ^_^;
