Shadow-Thing

The people know of a shadow-thing,
A shadow-thing, quite terrible it seems.

Yes, they know of a shadow-thing,
A shadow-thing
That plagues our dreams.

It's really quite nasty, you see.

This shadow-thing eats wishes,
That terrible, frightening thing!

The shadow-thing eats our hopes and goals,
While we the people
Try not to scream.

This the people know of the shadow-thing—

A rather monstrous being.

The shadow-thing circles the Earth
A-huntin’ for people’s dreams.
‘Cause dreams are what it feasts on,
No matter how terrible that seems.

Yet there has never been a person,
All across the seas,
There has never been a person
Who has stood and protected their dreams.

And yet these people must understand!
These people can’t be afraid!

For when they stand and protect their dreams—
The shadow-thing will fade.

Dang, can't believe I forgot to comment. >.< *Kicks self* I did read it though, honest Plushie! ^-^

But anyways, it's time for me to comment now then...ahem,

As always, you show a very nice stylistic approach in your poem and I like the irregularity of your rhyme scheme. The constant repetition of 'shadow-thing' does a nice job at inspiring the whole 'it's everywhere' feeling in the reader which, combined with what is told about this shadow-thing, gives the earlier parts of the poem a definite undertone of fear, and yet there is hope in the last four lines; "And yet these people must understand!
These people can’t be afraid! For when they stand and protect their dreams—
The shadow-thing will fade."

[/Poem-analysis craptalk] *Sigh* Somehow I always feel obliged to write some of that. -.-

Seriously though, I'm liking the poem. Good work I say! ^0^ Although I do wonder, is there some deeper meaning behind it or did you just sitt down and write randomly?

*scared Yibber*

Plushie feels unforgotten now. XD

Anyways, dear Alter, I wouldn't have wrote it if I didn't want it to have meaning. ^.~

It's random in the sense that I had no reason to post it. XD
