What do you all think is the best Pokémon generation so far, do you think it was the first one that we all fell in love with or the newer generations with there cool new looks and newer abilities?

G/S/C generation was the best in my opinion. The first generation was so awesome and the addition of the G/S/C made it even better. But Ru/Sa/Em made it sugarcoated and it didn't seem to appeal to me as much. I was kind of bored, to be honest and I'm not so very excited about Pokemon games afterwards. Oh, and also, I disliked most of the new Pokemon designs nowadays. It's like... weird stuff pulled out of nowhere. It makes me think that the game producers make random blobs and then fill them in with body parts and stuff...>>

What probably happen was they got a new group of artist for the new generations which is why they seem a bit out of place. Its like how they got different artist for DBGT and everything looked a little off.

Well, I sure missed the good old days. Back then, I would go: "Oh that Pokemon looks AWESOME!" or "Aw, that Pokemon looks cute!". Now I just stare at the screen and go: "What the heck is that?" or "What the heck is that supposed to be?"

Well, I will say the new looks are a lil weird to me because I grow up with the originals but I think anyone who gets into Pokémon nowadays and didn't start with the originals won't find the newer generations to be as weird as say people like you and me.

=D Yup. I'll usually say the same as Akinari ..
I'll say The Johto generation's the best as well. One key point for this is the Day-Night simulator in the games. Along with that, the anime for Johto was great. Hoenn's anime well ... lacks two things. It still needs a proper story, and it still needs Misty to come back.

^_^ Johto is better than you.

Even if I grew up with Pokemon, I tend to like the newest generations all the time.

That's why, I like 3rd gen right now.

Well, I forgot to say this in the last post. I believe one of the key points in me that makes me love Johto is that: Johto was the first ever Pokemon region I played, so I got around to loving it a lot as I explored it thoroughly. And I REALLY mean thoroughly.

^_^ I'sh Johtonese!

Yeah, G/S/C was the first that I ever played too, and I loved it. You had to fight two regions, battle Gary for the Earth Badge, fight an awesome Elite Four (KOGA!), battle Ash, catch three dogs, Ho-oh, Lugia...sigh...those were the days...

EDIT: My 100th post...w00t!

Everything is supposed to count... The looks of Pokemon ok... I think the first had the best... But also... Pokemon of the new generations are being more powerless generation by generation... To think, in my team I have 3 1st Gen Pokemon 2 2nd Gen and 1 3rd Gen...

Well, if you count the amount of decent Pokemon in the 3rd generation, you'll see they're VERY low. So yeah. You're bound to end up with good teams with low amount of 3rd Gen Pokemon.

My liking for the first two generations of Pokemon exceeds that of the newer ones. G/S/C was a good addition (Especially the new Eevee variants). I too have found myself wonder what the basis behind some of the newer Pokemon are. I wonder how far the game designers will take things until the original (first) Pokemon group decides that everything is too "out there." Then again, to them it does not matter. It is business.

Nintendo will just make new games now as long as they'll sell y'know? But the new Pokemon - at least they have varieties so players don't get bored.

Hence my business statement...True, at least the different variaties keep things at least semi-fresh.

Pokemon wise I'd have to say the originals were the best. There's not really an old one I dislike. Game wise though, the g/s/c versions were the best. The third generation hasn't really appealed to me in any way outside or a few pokemon

G/S/C wins it. Silver was my first Pokemon game, and I loved it. I played it for over 200 hours. Then I got Red, and I loved that too. Then came R/S/E, and to tell you the truth, I was a little dissapointed in them. Sure the graphics were the best and the sprites were awesome, but I didn't like the story as much as the others. The new Pokemon were also (for the most part) dissapointing. And they took some cool things out from G/S/C (Like Night/Day, the cell phone, Radio, ect.)

XD Silver is one of the most pwning games. Its also my first, Johto Boy. But I haven't played it THAT much. ^^;; Well, in Emerald though, they did bring the Phone back. Which wasn't THAT good either actually. G/S/C had radios too. =3

Semi-fresh, one reason to play new games is the curiousity for new and better Pokemon. Even so, Nintendo had failed to create good Pokemon in the 3rd generation. Except a few of them ...

Eh, the 4th generation Pokemon. I wonder what Nintendo has planned for it, and the new Pokemon. Next-evo and pre-evo of already existing Pokemon. Nintendo has run out of ideas.

Defineally the second generation (G/S/C) is the best, some of the pokemon in Ru/SH/Em are quite unoriginal and wierd lokking and it was what made my younger bro turn from a pokemon fan to being heavily anti-pokemon...and i'm still suffering the aftereffects of it.

So far, what i've seen of the the new generation coming up, makes me wonder if it will be worth purchasing the new games. I'm seriously thinking about not getting them.

Id have to say G/S/C was the best, it had everything added to it.

I liked the first generation, basically as i liked the pokemon, i mean in g/s/c who can like to start of with at blob a.k.a chikarita! So i never got in to the game, as i didn't like the starting pokemon.

Differnet people have differnet feelings.

Apparently, eventhough the true-blue Pokčmon fans, who've been with Nintendo from the begining, are begining to dislike Nintendo's products, they continue to make them further and further away from the originals, because they have to satisfy the newer audience. Just think of a kid who reccently got onto Pokčmon, and sees a Blastoise in the Red animation way. He'd chuck the game away. For use, those images bring back good memories, but for the new kid, it would just make him feel that Nintendo is crap.

Well said. That's why Nintendo should buy back all its old carts and burn them. ^_~ Well, for those new kids, you'd always see the newer games end up their favorites, and they'll find those the best.

Personally, my fave will always be the original 150 pokemon, the kanto ones. Just most of my fave pokemon are from it, and you can't beat the classics lol, i like the johto ones but at that time i had stopped watching pokemon so i didnt get to be very involved in that, the hoenn ones are good, but no i like the originals :)

Johto is BY FAR the best generation!!! Lots of STRONG pokemon in that one, even though there were only 100 pokemon in that generation. I also like the original 150. I don't really like the third generation that much. I don't know why, the pokemon just aren't as good.

The third generation RUINED the WHOLE pokemon craze anyway!!!! Haven't you noticed the merchandice isn't like it used to be. The pokedex is all messed up, and they even say Lugia [my favorite pokemon] DOESN'T EXIST!!!!! That's just STUPID!!!

I added a poll. I like the Kanto generation best. Probably because it was the beginning and it was something new to me.

I think Kanto is still the best.

The pokemon look great and its the generation that Onix is in.

The pokemon are strong and everyone knows alot about them. Pokemon like Dragonite, Marowak, Mewtwo, Fearow, Jynx and Dugtrio. These pokemon have alot of meaning behind them and alot of history unlike the new generation where not so much is known.

True, very true. Kanto was an amazing region, and the Pokčmon all had history behind them. The third generation Pokčmon hardly have any history, and those who do, have crap history.

To add to what I said earlier, all tose new people who've just gotten introduced to Pokčmon. You just wait and see. When loads of other generations emerge, the third generation will always be their favourites. At least, if they're sane people...
