I guess I do it again this week. I hope it ok.
So let discuss this weeks U.S. new episode of Pokemon. Do I Hear A Ralts? Say what you think of it here.
I thought it was sweet.

I watched some of it. I thought that it was ok. It would've been cool if Max got to keep it though. Im surprised it wasn't another pokemon for Ash to tell the truth. XD

All I can say about that episode was that Team Rocket was actually awesome in battling this time...
Team Rocket actually stood up against three trainers at a time, two of which had plenty of experience with dealing with themselves.
And when did Cacnea learn to use Pin Missile so that each needle caused explosions? (they actually looked like missiles this time)
Since this is the second time that Max actually took care of a Pokémon, the scene really didn't make much of an impact on me as it should.

Great great episode.... I can't find anything wrong with it.

I think the ending was so cute...I think Max and that Ralts are perfect for eachother and hope he meets it again someday...Like 4kids made him say in the dub XD...Unless he said that in the japanese one too o.o
EDIT: And also, Ralts TALKS at the end o.o...Ralts' voice was so cute! X3

The final episode before the Gym Leader, let's take a look.
You know, for certain episodes you understand why they animate better than usual and then they are episodes that are wonderfully animated but you wonder why they spent the money on such throwaway episodes.
Here, there is the first time we see Max in a different light, for the past two and a half years, the child was a grating, obnoxious know it all but here we finally see him have depth and turmoil.
The dilemma is a simple one but deep in their own way. Like dqle said, for the first time in a long time, the Rockets battle extremely effectively with their own arsenal (except Meowth but that's a given) and not a fast punch line as their own Pokemon normally quickly lose to battles when they should have won. And the twerps finally felt that they couldn't stop them. It was a beautifully animated battle but why put it off for so long and why this episode?
Ash use his Pokedex to discern Meowth's facade as Kirlia which comes as a great idea but more "why didn't they use it years sooner?"
Interesting allusion to the Celebi movie with the craddling the gravely sick Ralts with the attempt to give it berries, which fails.
4Kids does something unique with a new American song in a sequel (or at least same beat) of sorts of "If You Can Really Try". It's an interesting song and doesn't sound as cheesy as the last time they did with "A Scare to Remember."
Gardevoir finally makes a first appearance with Kirlia and it comes off deus ex machina, particularly annoying as the Rockets made another wonderful threat on Max and then....
Lamentably, Max doesn't get the Ralts but it doesn't deter as he is the only one who doesn't have any Pokemon, so at least consistency but given Ralts' empathy vs. his own (a mile long and an inch deep, depending), an Abra would fit the brainy young boy more.
And Ralts speaks in the end and while it is sweet, the voice actress just can't make it as it comes off grating.
Overall, an interesting character study where Max finally gets his footing as a character, the Rockets come off as effective Trainers and an actual threat, and well done animation.
Next episode, the 8th Hoenn Badge!
(And I'll do that episode discussion, maybe. Shifty eyes.)

I wait for that. If there not one by monday I may do it.
Like I said above. I think this was the bestest episode ever. I mean everything was here. Rockets at their best. Max and a cute little pokemon with some Snorunt help. Then the music!!! Aww. I love that tune.
First the Rockets. They were superb!!! Rockets at their best. The costums were umpf. But after that it was awesome. Why they never been like this before I don't know why maybe it is because they actully think this will be the day. Back on topic, I mean the Pin Missile was awesome. Then the attack of the moment. Iron Tail verses Poison tail. Ludicolo fighting off Psybeam. Needle Arm against Combustken. This time they actually didn't fight off as easy. Then Snorunt Powder Snow attack to make everything frosty and snowly. You be thinking that it was it for them but no. They still stood by the miricle of Mirror Coat fomr Wobie. Then this what I meant by music. The old Team Rocket theme music. They stood proud and trimph with the old music playing in the background. A proud moment. Then they went after again and again. They failed but they did it in the old style and determination as before. They went out in honor.
The music. I metion this now. I love this episode the most just because they brought out some of the great music from the old days. When Ash and Co fought against Team Rocket it was the old style battle music like from the game and olden days. It was grand!! Then like in the last paragragh the Rocket music. What I hate the most from AG was the new Rocket music which was just the Team Magma/Aqua music from the game. Horrible. That music is for Magma and Aqua. Not Rocket. But there. At that moment when the Powder Snow attack was finish Team Rocket just stood there in great honor with there old music playing in the back ground. Those two songs just madethis episode so great.
Before this episode I just tought of Max as being jsut some person that I don't really like who acts as a Mr Smartiepants and is short. Here he look like a real person. He then showed some growth here as in responsibity and honor. He did his best to make sure that the Ralts was going to be ok. Then Snorunt was awesome too. I didn't expect him to be so loving like that.
The song was ok. I don't really like it when they add music like in A Scare to Remember but here it was ok. It made me want to cry a bit. I may have.
The end was great. It teared me up. The animation was great. Then the voice in the end of the show promising to meet up again. I really hope they do. I mean it may not happen but still one can dream.
10/10 The episode is great. One great one in a long time. It was a oaisis in a desert of losers. ( A quote from the Rockets I think.) The animation and music was great. I still excited from the episode.

First, let me bore you a little. I feel for Ralts, 4 years ago I had two nearly fatal bouts with pneumonia. The first time I had stopped breathing in the hospital which lead to having a tube placed in my trachea. The second time I was hospitalized, my lungs collapsed. Got a five year pneumo shot that year, the prevuois one wore off.
This was a superb Max story, the first one in quite a while. It was surprising to see him act like the little kid he still is, even if nobody except the audience saw it. Can Snorunt let itself out of its ball like Skitty, Wobbuffet and Psyduck? Perhaps they had better get a lock for that thing.;)
I always wondered what the Pokedex would say about Mewoth, who knew? I bet he didn't, and I think Jessie will try and force him to use his special ability (my takling thermomiter went off and I didn't hear what it was) but he either can't or won't. It's about time the story tellers remembered that Wobbuffet can use counter and mirror coat. Wonder how it will react on the island of Wynaughts.

You make a good point, Doublewide, be nice if they re-explained why Meowth can't do Pay Day.
They explained it once, in Meowth Rules, he blew his experience needed to learn moves/evolve by learning how to walk and talk and thus no Pay Day.
Been so long since that point was made clear, a refresher would have been nice.

This episode marked the second time I've almost cried watching Pokemon (the first was when Ash "died" towards the end of Mewtwo Strikes Back), but the first time that I've wanted to cry twice:
--once when Max was crying over the Ralts (seeing people cry makes me want to cry)
--at the end, when Ralts made his promise to Max
I've saved the song when Max is taking the Ralts to the Pokemon Center into my lyric file for story purposes...

That why Meowth doesn't use pay day. Oh well. They don't show Pay Day a lot anyways so how we know if the coins are real? What if the coins disappear and/or fake?
January 24th, 2006, 10:16 AM
Actually, I don't think Pay Day has ever been animated. Even the Meowths throughout the series have not ever used it, I wonder why not. Huh.
January 25th, 2006, 4:42 AM
I remember that Team Rocket back in the Jhoto times they tried that Meowth Thief thing where they left bottle caps as a Pay Day attack but still. How we know if it is real? It just confusing since they don't show enough Meowths.
