I had flipped on [as] last night on a fluke, and noticed that they were incredibly enraged that an organization had referred to them as a "stoner block", and it amused me how vehement their denial was...in fact, it wasn't even a denial; they fired back with some pointless name-calling and nothing more substantial. It actually made me feel good that I'm not the only one that bears ill will toward [as] at the present time, and even though I must say I generally agree with the statement of the one example I listed above, my reasons for hating it are far more broad and consist more of the people who run the network than the shows themselves, though the downward spiral in quality is incredibly disappointing. I won't list my reasons for now; I don't feel like going on a diatribe if I don't see people of like mind with me, but I'm still curious to see what the general opinion of [as] at PC is. Are they perceived as innovative and edgy or arrogant and self-serving here? I'm interested to know.

In terms of most boards, a lot of people don't like the current state of it. It's been like that for a few years, most of the shows have been on a downward spiral these last few years. They have a few shows that people really like, it's much more mainstream now as well, guess that takes away from the charm that the early days had. Back then it seemed a lot more innovative and was so much better overall, these days it's just pandering to the masses because it's what gets them ratings.

I don't watch Adult Swim anymore. Once they stopped showing Aqua Teen Hunger Force all the time and replaced it with this other crap, I just gave up on them.

Oooooooooooooo, goodie!

Gets to rant since Kaga won't yet.

First off to address the thread, I won't call them stoners but that's quite amusing, no, from what I've gathered, I see them essentially as whiny, arrogant fanboys that more or less know how popular their product is and outright lord it over you and early on, downright insult you and tease you to the point of ridicule- "We may debut long awaited episodes of Harvey Birdman right now but we won't because we were (insert what you want)." Or for a later example, the Inu-Yasha withdrawl some time ago (Yasha was dropped for a little while back in 04, I think) "After so much whining and whining, here is your show back, now leave us alone!"

The former Birdman issue was in Feb 03, and that was the turning point for me, I had enough and I haven't watch since really. They know you need the product, so they'll mock you because you can't get this elsewhere. I guess I could make a comparsion to the recent gas prices but let's strong on topic.

I also don't care for the effect Adult Swim is having. What am I talking about? Look at the rest of the network, particularly with their live action movies lately, which should not be on the network AT ALL because of the swearing/adult themes. It's essentially breaking down the network's fine standards, particularly with the anime problem and making CN heavily dependant on them since Adult Swim is full of anime. That and no middle ground but that's another topic. So no standards anymore.

I'm glad someone called them on it publicly and I'm also happy to see their reaction and showing how much debate has dissolve in this country via how small minded they really are with name calling. I'm surprised they didn't do personal attacks yet. I hope they do it again tonight because I need to laugh at these fools that essentially ruined the network.

One point I do want to make, I did agree with CN back in 02 that they had to enter the Adult arena and change themselves but they did quite half (insert buttock) ly that it is a parody and just rather succeeded in shunning the independents away and then the rest of the network finished the job.

That said, good idea, bad execution. Just points out the flaws of the network and draws a giant circle.

You guys do not understand [AS], they have a different form of straight faced, sly humor. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them, but if you don't see their odd humor (like Stephen Colbert/Steve Carrell) than you won't like them.

I like Colbert and mildly amusing Carrell, my issue is their delivery and be less insulting, Colbert's humor doesn't insult your intelligence and be as brusque as much as AS's bumpers.

And I've seen their humor on SC Coast2Coast back when it's good. I know they're better than this. But laziness could be part of this theme. They are more slackers anyway.

Just rude slackers is another story or maybe we're not as enlightened as you, jasonresno.
