You beat me to it. I was going to make a thread like this. But anyway, I have to go with my Steelers. I think a lot of people would like to see them win. It will probably be Bettis' last game. Also, if they win, Roethlisberger will be the youngest QB ever to win a SB.

I'm not rooting for any of the teams, and I'm not making any predictions. I like both of them equally. It should be a great Super Bowl. Let the best team win!

Well, I want Seahawks to win so badly because Steelers are like rivals with the Cowboys.
But I think the Steelers will win it, it's going to be close though. Steelers has that Ace defence, O_O.

Wrong. The Seahawks had a better defense this year.

O_O Really? I haven't seen too many Seahawks games this year. All I know is that it's going to be a really good game.

Yep, I just read an article saying how the Steelers are now America's team, instead of the Cowboys. The article is here (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9197552/1). Once they win this one, they will have 5 SB trophy's. Looks like the Cowboys need to catch up.

No, Dawg is the one that is right. It was close, and I don't remember the actual numbers, but I remember the Steelers ranked higher. Need proof? Look what they did to Peyton Manning or Jake Plummer. The completely shut down the best passer in the NFL. And you can't forget how Big Ben ripped apart the Broncos defence, which was second best in the league I think. Did I mention that they did this all on the road, and Ben is only in his second year? But the Seahawks will be tough. Their defence has really improved, and the have the NFLs best RB. Not to mention Hasselbeck is at his peak. I expect a great game, but I believe the Steelers will win, THE BUS will be happy and retire, Ben will be the youngest QB ever to win a SB (They will then sign him for a long term stay), and Cowher will win his first SB.

I'm just saying that the Seahawks statistically had the better defense out of the two. Also, the Seahawks shut down Steve Smith.

The Seahawks only shutdown Steve Smith because he was pretty much the only playmaker for the Panthers so they put three guys on him, any team can shutdown any receiver with three guys on him. I say the Steelers will win the game but it's going to be a great one. It's going to come down to the D and the QB, Steelers have a better defense IMO, Steelers don't really have a "real" playmaker so the Seahawks won't know who to stop like they did against the Panthers. The Super Bowl is a QB game, if your QB doesn't do good then you will probably lose, both are great QB's but I think Big Ben will pull it off.

I read an article on it recently, I can't find it now. But yeah they did a great job of shuting down Smith. They had to do that, he is the star of the team. But the Steelers don't have a "star" receiver that they love to pass to. The Seahawks will want to watch Ward, especially near the endzone. I would also look out for Miller, he is a dangerous TE. The Steelers did a good job of covering Chad Johnson and Mavin Harrison.

Steelers has some tough Defense, and their blitz is totally what killed the Colts (who were heavily favored to win)...
Bettis didn't do to amazing against the Broncos, but I think they were just saving him for the Super Bowl...

My money is on the Steelers over the Seahawks by at least 3 points.
I do think that Seattle will give Pittsburgh a run for their money since they did go 14-2 during the regular season, but I still think that Seattle needs to be at home to win.

Yep, The Seahawks are undefeated at home. But they don't seem to play as well on the road. Unlike the Steelers, who are road warriors and beat the top 3 seeds in the AFC on the road.

6-2 on the road is pretty good if you ask me. But of course the Seahawks did play in the weak NFC West.

That's what I've been trying to tell my friend this whole time, I mean come on playing six of your games against the 49ers(I still love my team), Cardinals, and Rams, they're lucky. They also played the Texans, Titans and Eagles.
since they did go 14-2 during the regular season
They went 13-3 didn't they?
The 12th man isn't going to be on their side this time, I've been seeing a lot of "practically home game for the Steelers" all over the place.

I just looked at their schedule, and it wasn't very impressive. The only playoff teams the Seahawks had to play during the regular season were...
Jaguars (They lost)
Giants (They won by three points)
Colts (They won)
They beat the Colts only because they didn't play their starters. And they only beat the Giants by three points...
Now look at what playoff teams the Steelers played...
Patroits (They lost by three points)
Jaguars (They lost but they didn't have Big Ben)
Bengals (They won)
Colts (They lost, but it was Ben's first game back so he was a little rusty)
Bengals (They lost by a touchdown)
The Steelers lost twice when Big Ben was gone, once against the Jags and once to the Ravens. Both games were close though, so I believe they would have won both of them if they had Big Ben, and their record would have been 13-3. Then they also would have been Division Champions, instead of the Bengals. Not only did the Seahawks have an easier schedule, but a lot of people forget that the Steelers didn't have Big Ben for four games, and they lost two of them.

I want the Steelers to win. But I'm split on the question, the Steelers have won the superbowl 4 times, so it's likely they'll win, but the Seahawks have never won so they'll either loose or work extra hard and win. Who knows? 0_o

February 3rd, 2006, 01:56 AM
What the teams did in the past really doesn't have much to do with what will happen in this Super Bowl. It would be nice to see the Seahawks win, because they never won a SB before. But I think the Steelers deserve it more. For Big Ben, for THE BUS, and for Bill Cowher. And all the rest. They were so close last year, and they don't want to lose now.

You don't make any sense. Are you trying to say they "suck" as in skill, or you just don't like them? I don't how anyone can truthfully say that they "suck" in skill. They beat the top 3 seeds in the AFC all on the road, something no team has ever done before. Its OK if you don't like them, but you don't have to use thoses kind of words. It can be considered flaming, something that is against the rules.

Oh not to get offtopic or anything but, good luck on your remake!

Oh, it didn't sound like sarcasm. But anyway thanks about the remake. You didn't watch any playoff games with the Steelers? Wow, you missed some great games. It was awesome to see the Steelers come in and bring down the Bengals, Colts, and the Broncos. Even though no one thought that they could do it.

Yeah, the NFL later said that it WAS an interception. I was playing MKDS with a friend when I saw that, I almost dropped my DS and made me lose the race (I was so into watching the game then because the Colts went for it on fourth down and the Steelers D sacked him again, I was barely even playing). But thankfully, Big Ben made an amazing tackle. He saved the team, because it would have been a touchdown without it. And to top it off, THE MOST ACCURATE KICKER IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL MISSED A FIELD GOAL. And it wasn't even close. It's going to be a long off-season for him.
