With their new album released last week, I think it's time for a new YC thread. ^_^

This is one of my favourite bands at the moment, and their violinist (Sean Mackin) really adds a freshness to their sound. Has anyone else picked up the new album yet? I got the one with a DVD too~ How do you think their new guitarist (Ryan Mendez, replacing Ben Harper) is affecting their sound?

I don't have the CD yet, but the song "Lights and sounds" rocks. Maybe I'll buy the Dual-Disc one.

I don't think they've brought out a DD version here yet, only a bonus CD+DVD one. We tend to get DDs later, they haven't become very popular yet~

*wants the GC DD but already has the album, and sees no point in getting another copy*

I haven't heard any of their new songs, but I liked some of their old songs. Their an okay band, I think. I love their enthusiasm and how their all really hyper and stuff.

Does the new album have Lights and Sounds on it...I might buy it...I don't know...

Well, since the album is -named- "Lights and Sounds" it would presumably include the title track. XD Yes, of course it has it~

I was tempted to get the double disc the week it came out, but I bought Panic! At The Dicso - A Fever you Can't Sweat instead. But that is the next CD I plan to buy after P.O.D - Testify

I loved the songs on their old CD, but I've listened to most of the songs on Lights and Sounds and I only like about two of them. They're still one of my favorite bands, though.

lol.... Yellowcard is pretty passable.... the last thing the world needs is any more pop-rockish bands writing 3-chord songs with lyrics that a 10 year old can write that make top-10 hits, and then are forgotten one month later...

Yellowcard is decent in my opinion. My brother will most likely buy the CD, and then I'll steal it from him.

The difference I see with Yellowcard is that it has a violinist and that adds a nice element to the sound.

I just won a Yellowcard street team competition. @_@

I love Yellowcard. My favourite album of theirs, is, and will always be Ocean Avenue. Nonetheless I own all the albums. Yes, I recently purchased lights and sounds. I -heart- all of the songs but one on that album, and that is "Two Weeks from Twenty" Meh, it makes me feel like I am on a depressing trip to Hawaii. After just sniffing glue. But all the other songs are great! My favourite song is City of Devils (I smell elements of Bauhaus in there, anyone? Maybe it's just me~) But Yellowcard rawks ^^

I'm trying to collect their back catalogue at the moment, so I have to ask something. Do I have to get both editions (standard and limited) of "Lights and Sounds"? And is the reissue of "Where We Stand" acceptable, or do I have to track down the original pressing?

I haven't even had time to listen to the new album through yet :( I've listened to bits and pieces and watched the DVD. It's funny, when LP holds up his membership card they blur his address out BUT IF YOU SLOW IT DOWN ENOUGH YOU CAN SEE IT IN TWO FRAMES :D

I know I'm bad for bumping, but it was on the second page ;___;. I FINALLY got around to listening to the album. I like it. Not as catchy as the last one though.

Don't forget to join their e-team (http://www.ycunderdogs.com/yc/?u=jedi_amara). ;)

As somebody other than JA who's bought and listened to all the tracks on Lights and Sounds, I can tell you right off the bat that it's worth purchasing.

I really like the DVD too, you should get that version.

I don't think anyone's tracked down "3 Flights Down" apart from on the Australian single, though. We're all still trying to figure out why the lyrics are on the inside back cover and the song doesn't seem to be anywhere on the CD or the DVD.

It may be a Wal Mart Exclusive Track. Many Artists Do that now. They have been in 4 of my past CDS incluidng: Trapt, Korn, Switchfoot, and Nickeback, and a while ago I got one in the latest 3 Doors Down. So maybe that is the track.

I know you get it if you buy the album from iTunes, but that seems pointless as you don't get the case inserts that way. o_o

You've never heard rock with violins before? O_O

See:
Sigur Ros, Sufjan Stevens, some Radiohead, the Verve (;)), Finntroll, Massive Attack, Mum, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Explosions in the Sky...

And I haven't even gotten to electronic yet....

Rock, yes. Punk genres, no. The style in which the violin is used is different.
