Well, at least it’s a theme team because if you were using these on a serious team, I would be like wtf?

Houndoom (F) @ Lum Berry ** Cure Black
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 188 Spd / 252 SAtk / 68 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Flamethrower
- Will-o-wisp/Beat Up
- Pursuit
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Don’t bother with Defense EVs on Houndoom. It’s so frail that it won’t last long either way. Sp. Def is more important since your main goal is to switch Houndoom into Psychic and Ghost types like Alakazam, Celebi, and Gengar. Then predict a switch and Pursuit them to death. Beat Up is for Blissey, however that requires your team to have an overall high attack power. Since your team is rather weak offensively, stick with Will-o-wisp (and hope that it doesn’t miss).

Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers ** Cure White
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 56 HP / 148 Spd / 208 SAtk / 96 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Grudge
- Will-O-Wisp
- Substitute

If you’re going to use Ninetales, at least take advantage of its ability to learn Grudge. Grudge eliminates all of the PP of one of the opponent’s attack if they KO you. Hope that your opponent uses Earthquake because 3 other members of your team are also weak to it. 2 Will-o-wispers on one team may seem excessive, but you’re gonna need it since your team is defensively frail.

Minun (M) @ Salac Berry/Petaya Berry ** Mepple
Trait: Minus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute/Endure
- Baton Pass

Blagh, it’s Minun, the worst Electric in the game. Don’t bother with the defenses, it’ll die to just about anything. The basic strategy is to Sub down until Salac or Petaya activates and then Baton Pass to something else. The problem here though, is that a Baton Pass recipient must be able to take an enemy hit. The only viable recipients on this team (Houndoom and Plusle, Ninetales to an extent) may not even survive the pass. Still, it’s the best you can do with something like Minun. :\

Plusle (F) @ Petaya Berry** Mipple
Trait: Plus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute
- Hidden Power [Ice]/Hidden Power [Grass]

Plusle is at least a bit better than Minun due to a higher Sp. Attack (although that’s not saying much). Same strategy basically, although after a Petaya boost, Plusle can reach 403 Sp. Attack so it’s more offensively capable.

Azumarill (M) @ Leftovers ** Porun
Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Hidden Power [Ghost]
- Encore/Return

See Azumarill’s Huge Power? You’ll want to take full advantage of that. Sub and Focus Punch will do huge damage to most opponents not resistant to Fighting moves. HP Ghost for Ghost and Psychic Pokemon. Encore can be pretty fun if you can make your opponent repeat a non-damaging move. Or you can opt for Return for some more heavy damage.

Togetic (F) @ Leftovers ** Shiny Luminous
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Counter
- Thunder Wave

Togetic is actually pretty underrated as it can learn a ton of moves. This is my favorite set. With that Defense, Togetic can survive an Adamant Tyranitar’s Rock Slide and counter back for the KO.

Yay for theme-teams.

I think Aragornbird has it pretty much covered.

For ninetails, I've always lived by blueshirt's proverb:

"You'll want Flamethrower over Fire Blast in this case, as this definitely clocks in as a defensive poke."

I knew you'd have a reaction of that. I barely see Plusle and Minun used ANYWHERE these days.

Yeah, my team is bad (made appropiate fixes, though). I MUST ask, though: Why are people against Safeguard? Come on, Poison/Burn/Confusion/Sleep/Freeze/any status I might've forgotten won't happen for five turns. The best part is that a good amount of Pokemon can learn it.
How can anyone turn it down? Doesn't make sense to me.

Personally, I don't think there's anything REALLY wrong with it, but there are several pokemon that benefit from status (Heracross, Milotic, etc.), there are Pokemon with Rest or Natural Cure, and then there's those clerics. So Safeguard, as useful as it may be, takes up valuable moveslots.

edit: Also keep in mind that sooner or later, Safeguard will be down, and you'll be inflicted anyway, so it's a bit f a lost cause unless you have some kind of supernatural prediction skills.

I meant to put in Flamethrower as another option, but Ninetales could use the power boost from its less than stellar Sp. Attack.

What Synch said. Also the prevalence of Pokemon with substitute on just about every team renders Safeguard obsolete since Sub protects from status AND a bunch of other stuff. Your team is already very well defended against status since Houndoom has Lum Berry and 4 other Pokemon have Sub.

It's supporting comments like these that makes my job all worthwhile :D
