Who could be Ash's best friend?

It has got to be Latias. He did a lot for her and... I think she is in love with him... Pikachu is just his main Pokemon and he deosn't have a VERY sentimental bond with it like he had with Latias. That is why I think Latias is his best friend.

Pikachu is the most unfailingly loyal pokemon Ash has had...I haven't seen Pokemon Heroes, but I still bet that one encounter with an affectionate pokemon could ever outweigh Pikachu's incredible loyalty.

I agree, there is no way any Pokémon really could compete with the bond Ash and Pikachu have, they've been partners and best friends for years and Ash even refers to Pikachu AS his best friend sometimes when he introduces Pikachu to people.
Ash is the type to help anyone in trouble, especially any Pokémon in trouble and I really don't think his reletonship with Latias was that much different from any of the other Pokémon he's met... granted Latias probably was a bit more affectionate of him.

I would go as far to say that Misty and Brock are also his best frineds (*In which they agreed they were before they parted after the silver confrence*) They too have spent a few years travelling with Ash and get along very well with him, so yeah I would say they're his best human friends while Pikachu is his best pokémon friend ;)

Pikachu is Ash's very best friend. Ash has always said that Pikachu is his best friend and always will be. Ash said that Pikachu is more than his best friend and that they have a very close bond because that have been together since Ash started his journey. But I aslo agree that Misty and Brock have a deep friendship with Ash as well.

Of course Pikachu is Ash's best friend, Pikachu has been with Ash than any other of his friends. And besides they both almost have the same personality... :)

I'd have to say Pikachu is definitely his best Pokemon friend, there has always been that special bond between them (strengthened by TR's attempts to steal Pika). But it's hard to tell who is the better human friend, Misty or Brock. Both, in different ways, I guess.

As far as real, human friends, I think Misty and Brock...more Brock though cuz "best friend" status is really only shared between two people of the same gender, if it crosses gender lines, it becomes a romance.

About Pikachu: Comon, guys. Pikachu was Ash's first Pokémon, ya know. Since then, after who knows how many years (time is still really an issue) they've been together. Ash even refers Pikachu as being his brother.

It's obvouisly Pikachu! Pikachu has been with Ash through thick and thin! They even died together! Then came back to life! *Remember when they went to Lavender Town ;)* Ash refers Pikachu as his friend! Eventho they had a rocky start, Pikachu is his best freind! {Alot of exclaimation marks huh?!* :D
