I've played for over 300 hours on my Silver game...there's a combination of keys you can press to delete the game (I don't know what they are) maybe you pressed them by accident?

I've always thought that they put that effect in R/S/E and FR/LG

Well with the Japanese version of R/S after a year, the internal clocks break or something, it just means you can't grow berries, lottery, etc etc. But I think they fixed it in the U.S versions.

But as for you're games, it's know to happen, it happened to a mates of mine Silver version, I can't remember how many hours it was, but it restarted his game and wouldn't let him save. --;

In saying all of that in Emerald I have done over 260 hours and raising and trading Pokemon to try and make my ultimate team. Gee I hope that my game will be able to over 3 hours:'( .

G/S/C has an internal battery just like R/S/E. It is used for keeping track of time for events like Berries, Day/Night, and Pokemon appearances. It is possible for this battery to die. Unlike R/S/E, however, when this battery dies, you will be unable to save. There is a way to repair it, but unfortunately I don't know how.

you need a saudering iron, very keen eyesight, and a steady hand
the 3rd gen games can go till 999:99 and you can still save
but my silvers battery is dead

To my knowledge, the chances of the game erasing for Ruby are minimal as the data is stored in Flash memory. It's been that way since Crystal, I believe. The real time clock is still part of the battery though.

This happened to my Blue version when I had about 250+ hours on it. Wow, was I mad..I had all 151 Pokemon, and I was training to get my ultimate team..and boom. One day it shut off and my file was gone. =/
