Your brother’s suggestions weren’t terrible, but they weren’t that good either. He keeps suggesting all damaging moves, but you should use some non-damaging moves too.

False Swipe sucks. Why would you want to use a move that can never kill your opponent? And Earthquake is pretty bad on Sceptile. Get Sub from a Move Tutor in Emerald and give it Leech Seed or Endeavor from breeding.

Don't use two damaging moves of the same type on one Pokemon. Also, Dive sucks, so stay away from it.

You should have an HM slave to move around with, get Tropius and a Lombre, tht way you can learn all the HMs on them and still be able to move around, just switch them out every time you need a different one

hey, if you want a hm whore for all of the water HM's then get (one of the pokemon would safice) :

they work very well.

Please don't make a HM slave out of Kingdra and Gyarados. They are too good of Pokes for that, and quite frankly the other Kindgra/Gyarados will make fun of them. HM slaves are Pokes that are absolutely worthless.
