Can someone spice this up a bit for me?

It's a mood meter for my game and it looks a little dull...
feel free to add in any emotions if you want to, like perhaps a neutral one, but make sure they run in order from the saddest to the happiest to the most excited or angriest.

Also can someone fix up my title screen and make it look better?

just one more thing, can someone make this picture work in rm2k3 without having the colours screw up?

I made that last one 256colors for you... It's a tiny bit lighter but I couldn't stop that!

Var[001:Current Party member] set 2 (2 just represents a certain pokemon)
Fork conditions If Var[001:Current Party member] is 2
Party remove Ash (or whatever)
Party add charmander

Put that at the start of the dbs and at the end just put
Party remove all
Party add ash


There ya go, can't get much simpler...

im not sure about this but wouldn't you want a picture of the black circle and have it follow hero (size: 320x240 with a circle in the middle) and when they use flash erase picture of whatever? Ill make the image is you want?

tou mean on rpgmaker? just make an event called "bolder" of something?
then make it if you have the HM Strength and you click on it(or touch it)
use "move event" and make it face oppisite side of hero then move forward or something?

Ok, I need help with my Trainer Card for Pokemon Silk in RM2k3

I have everything like : to show the money held and whatever but i need to know:

is there a way to show the hero name using Character sets?
cause the player can enter the name at the start of the game, i don't know how i should go about doing this.....

No there is no way to do it.. Unless you made a CNS then it is almost impossible to do it..

Wait.. There's one other way.. If you had each letter of the hero's name in different name slots.. Then you could make some code with conditional branches for every letter of the alphabet like:
If hero's name is A
Then set var[001:trainer card 1st letter] 1

On the charaset you have to put the trigger variable to var[001:trainer cars 1st letter] 1
and the charaset should be the letter A.. You need to do the whole alphabet like that

That's like the only way you can do it man.. You would probably need some sort of CNS for that too..

Nah there's some coding you can do to make it available in messages too but it's just way complicated..

also another question on trainer cards-
ok, i'm doing ok coding the money character sets (to show how much money the player has)
but is there a quick way of coding this up (see below)

Ok see the bit I have circled, thats to show the last digit of the number - example- if you have 3004$ (or whatever currency)- then that character set will show as 4.
But i'm finding it hard coing the last one- so my question is,
for that character set, do i have to code a new page for EVERY number?
You see for the others - example: the "1000+" character set (which is the first one) will display "1" if you have 1000, and my coding is
"If the variable XX Money Held is greater or = to 1000- show character set 1"
then next page
"If variable XXMoney Held is greater or = to 2000 show character set 2"
and so on. And its the same for the other 2 character sets (just displaying the hundreds/tenths)
so........
yeah....

how would i code the other chatacrer set?

just do like if your doing the second digit (hundreds)
<If money is higher or = to 100
<If money is lower than 200
<move event :chang grafic (into 1)

<If money is higher or = to 200
<If money is lower than 300
<move event :chang grafic (into 2)
and so on .

My system divides every digit into it's own variable... eg. Millions, Thousands, Hundreds, tens, ones... Something along those lines! Then all you have to is set the 5 charsets.

You have to use the mod command in the variable operations section..
I used something similar for my CNS.. Mine was a bit different because i was splitting and repairing variables..
The mod command divides the variable by a number and leaves the remainder in the variable..
Alright say your number was $304, you mod it by 100 and the answer is 3 rmdr 4, the 4 will be put into the original variable you were using to do the sum. That's why it's a good idea to copy your variable.. Do something like this var [0001:ones] set var [0002:hero's money]
Then you can mod it without losing the data you had in the money variable..

I've got a bit of a difficult request here, but I can't think of where else to ask. Can anyone give me the gameshark codes for a POKEMON RUBY rom, so that I can put them in VBA? I need someone to help me find MODEST, MAX-IV (genes), Treecko. I plan to extract the stats of this Treecko to help me build my CBS (my own spin on the group project). If possable, could you also direct me to a site with the codes for any pokemon? I'm going to need 75 for my game.

My biggest concern about creating a Pokemon game is getting the battle animations. I can't see anybody being able to rip every single one into a battle animation, so that means you'll have to do compromise and do it some other way.

@barry: don't worry i'm making one giant one now. It's almost done, you'll have to wait until tomorrow ok. I have rips from every town and route so it should be good.

Edit: Well I've finnished the kanto tileset but tomorrow I will add the sevii islands to it enjoy!

Yeah. They are pretty big. It's kind of odd how I don't plan on using RMXP as much as I was going to now. I found a way to use the pokemon overworlds of Kyle's in rm2k3.

You can definately change the fonts, I've got the R/S font in my RM2K3. I just can't remember how I did it. I know I had to download the font patch first. Then I think I just copied the font file into the rm2k folder and renamed it rm2000 to overwrite one of the default fonts. But I'm not too sure...

right click in event mod and choose start party position to make your people go to that place when you click new game. Or to make a new hero go onto the database (press F8) and on the heroes tab change the array size to how many you want. Click on a slot and change the hero from there ^^

To set a Start Party Position, go to the Event Layer (F7) and right click and go down. To add a new hero, go to the database (F8) and on the Hero tab is everything you need to make a new hero.

The easy way: Go to database>>hero. Add 3 new characters, 'starter1' 'starter2' and 'starter3' Then when you need to add them to your party go to commands, add party and add the specific starter.

Rmxp has 3 layers of tiles and you can place any tile on any layer.
Not like rm2k3 how you have to use different tiles for the upper layer.

Not everything. The first layer practically ignores transparent colours.

It's because people are gtting more demanding with their requests. Back before there was a boom of interest on this board it was requests like "Can somebody post the male FR/LG charset please". Now it is more like "Can somebody make me charset of Ash from the anime please". Most requests that are like "can someone make me a charset of all Pokemon, i'll give credit. thanks!" are ignored straight away. The reason being is that nobody is willing to spend time making something for a game they no nothing about and, more often than not, will be discontinued within a few weeks. However, people haven't noticed that yet and are still requesting tuff like that.
All help problems that aren't "Can someone tell me how to make a CBS?" etc are answered.

How do I make a tile blocked. So that, for example, I made a building. How can I make it to where the player can't walk on top of the building?

Easy, just go to your Database and make the tile set for the building a solid (X) and make the priority 1 Star.

To Poke Manga Artiset: I think you have either put the event on Auto Start or you have done something weird.

Now, can anyone help me out on the Pokemon Style Message Box in RPGMaker XP format? I have tried to do it, but it's too confusing.

a party is easy to modify the default party you must use the database, the system tab. And to add more members during game use the Add/Remove Party member option while creating an event. Though you can only have 4 characters in your party without using a custom system.

A catching ability is difficult as it takes lots of events and a very complex chain of coding to work out if you catch, doing that is a hard thing to do and is easier to wait for a cbs to be released with one implemented.

I recently dled a tileset and was going to use it on my game. When I uploaded the tiles there was empty space around certain things (like corners of buildings) and it was filled with green! So now everything that has empty space turns green...how do I get rid of this?

Import the tileset again and click on the green color. This'll make that the color transparent on the map.

poke manga artiset:- The links work fine for me. For the tileset problem right click on the map file on the left and side and go to Map Properties and then choose the right tileset. Also make sure you aren't overwriting one tileset with the other in the database.

Wouldn't that part be the same as a cms? Since you have done so many tutorials on that, you should be able to use your knowledge of cms's to make a menu to select from in your battle system.

I answered it in the topic and ill answer it here:

to fix it just search on google for an english enter hero name script and use that, they dont show up because the scripts are in japanese. Search for an english enter hero name rpgmaker xp script or search gamingw. I know i had that problem and i fixed it.

Tutorial by me

Tutorial Name Pokemon IDentifyer
description-Used to Identify whitch Pokemon is in whitch slot and who is sent Out first in da battle if theres 2 the second to da top will be sent out to oh and by the way this will also work for a pokedex.


Variables needed
Pokemon
Pokemon party
Pokemon slot1
Pokemon slot 2
Pokemon slot 3
Pokemon slot 4
Pokemon slot 5

now go to ur commen events and name 1 of them Pokemon identifyer
now go in ur variable management click the one called Pokemon and inside da management find the one that lets u choose another variable and pick pokemon party
Now do the same thing but for slots1,2,3,4,5
Now the rest is just plain and simple
First how many pokemon are in ur game 2 whos the first Pokemon hmm you figure it out.
now make a comment and put Pokemon slot 1
Now make a fork with the variable pokemon -NO ELS CASE
now inside it make another fork with the variable Pokemon slot1
and have an els case.
Now inside slot 1 your going to need to make 3 hundred some forks for EACH slot and there in da els cases so no worries

Should look like this if you don't get it noobs

Fork-Variable Pokemon
Fork varaible Pokemon slot 1
Fork varaible Pokemon slot 1 equel 1
Show or a message saying Go..Pokemons name
els
case Repeate as many times as nessasary.

Now this could work for Pokedex,Pokemon Menu(not da cms)

Right click on the tile that you want the NPC to show. Click on make event and the event box should appear. Then double click on the charset, change it to your suiting, go to commands, message, then input the message that you want that NPC to say.
Remember to have that event on "action key" so that the message appears properly.

to change the normal color its "def normal_color" and change the colours in (Red, Green, Blue, Opacity) format. I think... And when 0-7 is the colours using as daegon said \c[x].

you can also change it in def color, that's the main color in the title screen.

Replace rm2000 and rmg2000 with fonts u want (same name). Also some of it is to do with he fact rpg maker is japanese and has a different keyboard layout programmed in it.

what's the background color of the window skin?
if it's white, i know the problem:
add this line

After the whole event just turn a switch on. Make another page in the event, check the box switch (doesnt matter which one) and choose the switch you set.

If using rmxp you can use local switches in the same way!

how do u get fr/lg fonts? and how do create a pokemon-like menu screen

How do you change the color to black (0,0,0,255) in the Name Input Screen? It's not working for me and my default color is gray.

If it is, go to Window_Base and change the "normal_color" to your preferred color
such as:
def normal_color
return Color.new(0, 0, 0, 255)
end

And in both Name_Input and Name_Edit:
Find this:
self.contents.font.name = $fontface
self.contents.font.size = $fontsize

and before them, put this:
self.contents.font.color = normal_color

In the Name_Input Screen, the text color would change to your "normal color"

Nope, doesn't work. The default color is still 0, 0, 0, 255 but the name input screen's font color is still white.

Jeff - I think you have to change all the fonts to one color (unsure), because, for me, the input was black and my normal font is black. Ask virtual, he's good in Ruby

Okay. Basically when I put the script in Name_Edit (before self.contents.font.name = $fontface self.contents.font.size = $fontsize), I tested my game and it said error occured. Then, I put the same script also in Name_Input, but couldn't find it, so I placed it before "self.contents.font.name = "Arial"", but still won't work.

Well, no loss, though, I thought the RM2k3 default battle system was WAY better than the default battle system in RMXP. In RM2K3, there were many commands which were taken out in RMXP, like the Store Terrain ID in RM2K3 and many more. But, the bad thing, though, it's a little hard to fiind RMXP resources...

i got that, i had sprites and I uploaded them into the database. Than I went to set them as the main characters sprite. But whenever I went to play the game instead of just seeing the character, I would see the picture I uploaded into the databse (which is the character standing in diff directions, etc).

Basically, whenever you speak to a human (with charsprite), Picture "Message People" shows up. When you speak to a sign (sign tileset but the event has no charsprite - none), the picture "Message Sign" shows up instead. So, that's what I'm asking for.

Hey I just downloaded rmXP and it says you need to change the resoultion
to 1024x768,

I try to change it on contorl plannel
but it just goes back into the normal resoultion

Is there a patch or something that can fix the resoultion

DarkDoom, go to your desktop and right click and go to properties. Than click on the "settings" tab. Go down and change the resolution manually.

You can do that easily with show picture or with changing the window skin from the window skin for people to one for signs, then, back to one for people. You only have to do that while switching in a sign.

Basically the windowskin is set to "none". For the wait command, I tried to find the "Wait until key is pressed" event, but it's not in RMXP.

if you double click the autotile, a new window will pop-up

then select a tile to paste on the map

Basically, open up Paint or the program you use, seperate one of the battle BGs by highlighting it, and then click copy. Open another window (same program you used) and click paste. Stretch the image until 464 x 640 (I believe that's correct...)
