Linking Emerald to FR/LG

I'm not exactley sure where this should go but it is mainley connected to Emerald.

A few days ago I managed to beat the Elite 4 and got my national Dex, Now I am thinking of buying FR/LG and completing it then trading all the pokemon over to Emerald to complete my Dex, however I have a few problams,
1. Can you trade pokemon between 2 DS's or does it have to be 2 GBA's/SP's?
2. Can I trade all the pokemon form emerald onto FR/LG to complete both Dex's?
3. Is it worth buying R/S so I can get the few pokemon that arnt avalible on Emerald (Including the other legandery, Latias)?
4. If I can trade Between FR/LG to Emerald, how far do I need to get in FR/LG?

1. You can only trade to GBA/SP's to GBA/SP's as DS can only communicate DS games.
2. (As said later on 4) Once you have done that, you can trade as many Pokemon to either games.
3. Personally, I wouldn't, I would trade with someone who has either Ruby or Sapphire, this way you don't waste any money, and if you want Latias get/ trade with Pokemon Sapphire, as Pokemon Ruby will give you Latios.
4. You have to beat the league and get the Ruby and the Sapphire that are located on the Sevii islands.
