i noticed that kanto is a real place of japan (kanto in both worlds look much like eachother), so have been wondering if the other regions are real parts of japan too?

Can you link the site where you saw that Kanto is real?

It could just be a coincidence, but you never know.

Yes, Kanto of the Pokémon world is based on Kanto of Japan. Johto is based on the region, Kansai, but is more like Chubu. (Kansai is to the west of real Kanto, much like Johto is to the west of fake Kanto.) Hoenn is based of Kyushu and Okinawa. Orre is based on Chugoku. And Shinou is based on Hokkaido, Sakhalin, and Kunashir Islands. (Hokkaido is a region.)

Some of the towns in the Pokémon world is based on towns and cities in Japan.

Interesting.
I knew Johto and Kanto were actual locations, but I wasn't real sure what Hoenn, and Shinou were based on.... x3 Kewl.

So Shinou is based on Hokkaido?? Thats awesome! Should make for some interesting game locations! (Snooow!)

Wait, so is the pokemon world suppose to be in Japan? It can't be because Mew's fossil was discovered in South America and the electric gym leader in Kanto is supposebly the American something something...it said something about him being American. If all these pokemon Ash saw in his life (supposebly only in Japan) then how many other kinds are there that are living in Africa, Europe, Australia, and etc? These regions can't just be in Japan (pokemon world) or else the world would be really small in the pokemon world. Aww it's hard to explain my point.

hale, are you wondering why there are mentionings of the real world locations in the Pokémon world? Like Mew's fossilized eyebrow being found in South America? Lt. Surge being the Lightning American? And some random Pokémon that I can't remember which one it is eating elephants? Misty's love of French things?*

It's one of those mysteries of the Pokémon world. I don't believe that they were in the original, so it must just be a dub addition. But I really don't know.

The Pokémon world isn't in Japan. (Though it is, as a theme park.) It's just based off the land of Japan. But whether the Pokémon world is its own planet, or if it is a part of our world, is a debateable idea.

*(When I wrote that episode out, I wanted to avoid all mentionings of the real world. So I had to have Misty say that she loves things with backwards accent marks... Crèpes have the accent over the "e" backwards from Pokémon...)

I made a thread about two weeks ago listing regions and their real world counterparts and can be seen here (http://www.theud.com/pokecommunity/showthread.php?t=75137)

oh right...

we need some kind of "don't post that, it's already been posted" alert

... hmm, so, are the ruins of alf, national park, and the tin/brass towers based on a real places/things then?

Oh noes...we didn't see your thread because it was in a completely different section. (Then again, "Search Button FTW...")

Besides, you don't have complete information. You say that Orre was based on Arizona, which it is, but it is also based on the Japanese region of Chugoku.

I was going to list all the locations and what they are based on, but that would take me forever to just write it in a post. (If anyone is interested, just ask, and I will get all the information.) So I will just answer the ones that Hotaru asked.

Ruins of Alph: based on Asuka Village, an Imperial capital. It is now an archeological site.
National Park: based on Meiji no Mori Minoo Quasi-National Park. It is the home of the Tower of the Sun.
Brass Tower: based on the Kinkaku Tower(Tower of the Golden Pavillion), which was actually burned down multiple times. The last time was in 1950, by a deranged monk. The tower is covered in gold-leaf, after being restored after the fire.
Tin Tower: based on the Ginkaku Tower(Tower of the Silver Pavillion). This one was not burned down.

(All information did not originate from me...)

Just to end all debate about the other thread and this one: I had brought the matter up with an SMod, and nothing happened with the two threads. This either means that my PM was never read, or the SMod decided to keep both threads open. =/ Weird.

So, yes folks, we know about the other thread. Both threads are just going to have to exist in harmony.

As for me knowing all this, I just look it up when the time arises.

this has really got off topic hasnt it. But i think that Kanto is probably the only place which they have related to in japan with.
