Well just joined the community to submit a project idea to see if anybody would actually like to see it happen before I get too into it. Any critique is appreciated!

Basic storyline:

Takes place 10 years after Pokemon RBY. You start off as a 10-year-old in Pewter City. You wake up to the sound of your Pokegear's alarm and you run downstairs because you know today is the day you get your first Pokemon. When you get downstairs your mom tells you that there was a package for you, when you open it up it contains your starter Pokemon - Dratini - and a potion to help you make it to Professor Oak's Lab in Pallet Town.

In the Viridian Forrest, you run into your rival for the first time, and he has an Eevee (which form Eevee will take later on is completely random).

When you finally get to Pallet Town, you'll get a map card for your Pokegear, a Pokedex and 5 Pokeballs. From here, your journey begins, but the gyms are now in a different order. Viridian city will be the first gym you actually battle in. There will be a total of 12 gyms but you will only need 8 badges to qualify for the Indigo Plateu tournament (rather than an Elite 4).

Features:

:dragonite Dratini as the starter
:dragonite Headbutt trees
:dragonite Day / Night System
:dragonite Weather system
:dragonite Pokegear (complete with radio)
:dragonite 386 pokemon
:dragonite Tournaments more like the TV series, and the Elite 4 as well
:dragonite Old and new characters alike
:dragonite Kanto, Jhoto, Hoenn and Orange Islands Archipelago available to travel to
:dragonite Trains, blimps and ferries available
:dragonite All Pokemon catchable

About all Pokemon catchable:
A proportional system has been used. Kanto is 70% the original Kanto Pokemon, 20% the Jhoto Pokemon and 10% the Hoenn Pokemon. Jhoto is 55% Jhoto, 35% Kanto, 10% Hoenn. Hoenn is 60% Hoenn, 25% Kanto and 15% Jhoto. This makes for a fairly balanced game with all Pokemon catchable. Legendaries will also be available, some in similar ways others in different ways.

If I get enough people liking the idea then I'll stick with it. Again, please critique!

It sounds like a decent project, well the start of a decent project anyway. I'd like to see you stick with it to see how it turns out.

Out of curiosity, have you actually done any work on this or is it just an idea at this stage?

It seems nice, the story is basic and I like that (at least no 'prevent world domination/destruction' plot, please).

What game maker are you going to use?
