The game Pokemon Advanced Will consist of 4 different Islands. One will be covered
with water [Aquapollis], One will be a Desert [Desapollis], One will be like a Jungle [Saffari Isle]
and One will be a normal Island [Normal Isle?]. The 4 Islands will then combine to create
the region of Tabu [Temperory Name]. You start off in a small village on the outskirts of Normal Isle.
A local Pokemon Breeder breeder gives you your first Pokemon Eevee as a birthday present.
You and you new companion set out on a great Adventure to beat each of the Pre-League Gyms.
Each Island has a Pre-League Gym, that you will have to beat in order to enter the Pokemon League.
To obtain new pokemon you will need to untertake special sidequests, where you may have to retrieve
a lost pokemon for someone, or do battle with the evil Team Rocket, and restore peace to a village.

I like the second one more :) Cause it has more detail and it brings the pokémon feel. The first one is too empty.

I like them both, but you should try to steer away from those charasets. The original charasets look much better, also you probably won't be able to fit through doors if you are using the F/R L/G chipsets. Just letting you know

The first one's graphics are more modern, but I personally prefer the r/s graphics.

And yeah, I'm changing to the official charsets for my game 'cause of the door issue :dead:

To look at the whole town without the grid, click on the dotted square button.
That isn't its primary function, but it does just that.

Looks very nice so far, and what do you mean you would like some original ones of? charsets?
You should read the RM2k resource thread i posted up a Gary sprite and there should be some other official ones in there..

one question though, where did you get your fire red chipsets? :dead:

Ok, yesterday I had a little problem with uploading the screen shots, but now that is fixed. So far I have added 4 new screen shots of the game, so if you want to see them, then go to my website at "click here" (http://www.freewebs.com/pkadvanced)

Any way, I got a little bored with the project, so I took a little break, and hopfully I will start working on it again this weekend.

Also I hope to get some character sets and chipsets up on the site next week, along with some new screens of the game.

Well actually I will start working on it this weekend, and I am hoping to get the battle system sorted first, so that could take a while. I am also going to be working on the menu system, so I am not expecting to release a demo anytime soon as in about 2 weeks time I have my R.E and English G.C.S.Es, and my mom is forcing me to revise starting next week!

So, I think I will just do some easy 1 or 2 hour sessions of the game, because I don't want to rush it, and mess it up.

Oh and Imakuni the char sets you posted are not loading for me, but thanks anyway for posting them.

Ok, today I have done some some more work on the game, here is how the game is progressing:

Intro - 95%
Maps - 5%
CMS - 0%
CBS - 20%
Storyline 3%

So far in my game I have finished the Oak intro [I may add some things later in the game's progress], and I am upto where you get your first pokemon [evee] and then battle gary who uses a growlithe. I will continue doing work on the game later and tomorrow, and hopefully I will be up to the first gym, and will have made some progress with the battle system. I am not really to bothered with the menu system, so I will do that later on.

Maybe if I have enough time tomorrow, I will update the website with more screenies and put some downloads on there.

Right, today I foud a glich in my battle system, so I have not made any progress on the game as I have been fixing it.

I believe there were some like that in Memphis' game Pokemon: Galaxy, but I'm not sure; and I don't know where you can get it anymore...

I don't really like any of the new names, but might I suggest Lt. Raiku? Or maybe Lt. Raichu?

Yeah, I already had those characters, but I was talking abut the actual pokemon sprites, as they do not move in rm2k/3

Well anyway, as of 17th May I am not going to be working on the game for about 1 and a half weeks, because I need to start revising for my exams.

R.E exam 26th May
English exam 28th May

after those are over, the game will get my full attention.

If I feel like it I may release an early demo of the game on the 17th, but remember, the demo will probably only be about 15-20 mins long, if that! [depending on how much work I put into it]

Also I am working on two websites, the pokemon advanced one in my sig, and one that I have not released yet, where you will be able to download vids of me and my friends doing funny stuff [like jumpin' out of trees, getting slapped and more] so I am not sure what will happen, you will just have to wait and see.

Ok guys, sorry for double posting, but I just did a test download of my demo, and it downloaded in 33 minutes and 18 seconds!

I downloaded it using flash get if that makes any difference

Maybe it was slow yesterday because there were a few people downloadin it at the same time..

your game is good, just for this one little thing, the battle in prof. oak's lab is kinda endless. I dont know if this is possible but maby u need to add a hp bar (little thingie that show enemy hp after a hit).

I started downloading, but my dad stopped the download.

I'm checking out that free host thingy, and I'll get back go you if it works.

And DON'T use bravenet for free file hosting- you can't upload zips or exes in free accounts. It's good for other site features though.

EDIT: 00freehost isn't good because it has a 1 megabyte upload limit for each file. Not helpful, when most games are 5 megs. Please, ideas people! HELP!

i agree with Sharingan about the battle, i thought it was never going to end. you should make the battle shorter with some sort of indication of what damage you are actually doing. i did like how the pokemon slowed down when it was weak.

:pokeball: Phoenix & Sharingan - Yeah, I agree. The battle with Gary is a little too long. I only did that battle system for the demo though, I am still working on the real one.

:pokeball: DarkMage, if you use flash get it downloads faster, so there is no need for a host.

Also, I was wondering, how long can a thread stay open for before it is deleted, cuz I was thinking of starting a new one.

Ok, I was playing pokemon Colluseum this morning, and I thout that it would be good to make a rm2k game based on it, so I was thinking of changing the theme of this game, so that it is a little more like pokemon colluseum.

If I did, here is what the game would feature:

:3: Shadow pokemon to be caught
:4: 1 on 1 battles instead on 2 on 2
:3: colluseum battles [colluseums will act as gyms]
:4: Eliet four
:3: purifying your shadow pokemon pokemon
:4: Add lots more!

Please post and tell me if you think that this is a good idea, because I do.

It sounds ok. The idea of purifying pokemon on colluseum is good because it has good storyline to back it up.

If you can think of a storyline to explain why there are shadow pokemon. It the process of stealin em' from trainers (can you make all the minions & stuff?). Purification as well.

Indeed moving your game into a pokemon colluseum would be cool. But you have to consider all the work that comes behind it. (Im not tryin to discourage u)

Right then, It has been a while sinse I last updated this thread, mainly because I have been swamped with school work, and revision. I have some good news and some bad news.

GOOD ~ I will start working on the project again!

BAD ~ I have 6 more exams to do, so I will not be able to start working on it for 2 weeks [last exam on June 28th]

Back on topic ~ I remeber that I was having a little trouble with the battle system, so I think I wil be leaving that until later into the project, and start some map making.

Here is where you come in.

I need some help with the story line, and the names of the towns, so if you can come up with some names, side-quests or plot-lines, then it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, had my last exam today W00! so you all know what that means

Ok, I have been experiencing a few techical problems with the game Pokemon Advanced, and there are some stuff that I can't get working, so I have decided to start the project again from scratch, apart from the intro, because that works fine. I will be using the new chipsets and character sets that I downloaded earlier, and this will be better than the other version that I have now scrapped.

Also Today I have changed the whole layout of my website, and put up some updates, so now the site looks much better, It looks sotra like a forum now.

^ Yeah, the CBS was starting to go wrong, and then I messed everything up, so I will start it again, but try a different CBS.

Yeah, that is a good idea, so what types of islads should I do and what is the pokemon that you get from them.

Each of the Islands have a gym on them, and when you beat the gym, you are given a pokemon of the islands element, So if you are on aquapollis and you beat the gym, then you will be given a water pokemon.

Well, the normal island pokemon should be eevee.
The other three should give you the chance to choose
between all the starters. For example, on each island,
the player muct do some sort of side quest to get
accepted into the community and he has the choice of
three. Depending on the player's decision he gets different
pokemon.

Updated Game Info

The game Pokemon Advanced Will consist of 4 different Islands. One will be covered with water [Aquapollis], One will be a Desert [Desapollis], One will be like a Jungle [Saffari Isle] and One will be a normal Island [Normal Isle?]. The 4 Islands will then combine to create the region of Tabu [Temperory Name]. You start off in a small village on the outskirts of Normal Isle. A local Pokemon Breeder breeder gives you your first Pokemon Eevee as a birthday present. You and you new companion set out on a great Adventure to beat each of the Pre-League Gyms. Each Island has a Pre-League Gym, that you will have to beat in order to enter the Pokemon League. To obtain new pokemon you will need to untertake special sidequests, where you may have to retrieve a lost pokemon for someone, or do battle with the evil Team Rocket, and restore peace to a village.

The trainer sprite (kinda looks like one of those custom RS charas)
doesn't fit in with the rest of the FR tiles in my opinion. When he's

looking down, it looks like he's facing up.^ Yeah, I noticed that too, That character set is only temperery though, because my Ash char set is on my other computer, so I will put it into the gape when my Dad fixes my flash card. Also on my other computer I have some more screens that are ready for uploading, but I cant transfer them over to this computer yet because of my flash card.

It seems as though the attatchments are still not working, so I will try to get the new layout working to upload the screens to my site.

EDIT1: I have almost got the layout ready now, I am just adding the content to the pages in dreamweaver. Next comes the hard part, uploading the HTML to freewebs.

EDIT2: Ok, yesterday when I was attempting to upload my layout to the site, my computer crashed and the firewall somehow shut dow, letting 3 worms into my computer. It has taken me and my Dad about 8 hours just to get the computer back online, because after we re-formatted the hard drive, and re-installed the firewall, it had no updates, so it was just letting the viruses in and the computer kept on crashing.

Anyways it is fixed now, but unfortunatley I lost the intro background that I designed. Luckily I made a backup of the website layout though, because I saved it to my flash card for uploading, and I copied the game onto it too so that I could test it on My brotheres computer [because my laptops left directional key is broken].

Right well it is a little late now, so I will upload the screens and layout tomorrow, are the attatchments working now? If not the screens will be on my site.

Well, the attatchments arn't working and the freewebs site is not working properly either. when I upload the HTML it shows the layout, but not the pictures, so I will try to find a better host for it. Anyway, here are some screens for you to enjoy:

Now I make a backup copy of the game on my flash card, oh well better get back to the running system, If I finish it in time then I will post some pics later.

Great screens. I would suggest creating a better intro though. The small sprites in front of the blank black space isn't something I would advise.
