"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will be the 7th and final book, coming some time in 2007." (http://movies.ign.com/articles/752/752076p1.html)
News just came out [apparently], not much else is known yet, but at least there's a title now.

I would've have expected her to end it at eight or ten, but I guess not. I hope it ends good, even though I haven't read them all.

I believe that she will kill off Harry as sad as it may sound but I could be wrong.

It's possible, but I find it highly doubtful. Though, I do not doubt something big will definately happen.

Well, she did say that killing off Harry would be a good way to end the franchise. x3;;;;

That may be true but she also said that she wouldn't like the hate mail she would get from doing that.
If two characters die like she says I think it's going to be two out of Hagrid, Lupin, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny. Those are the people closest to Harry so any of those would make the most sense. I just hope it's not Ron or Hermione...

I'm expecting Lupin to die, to tell you the truth. And I'm hoping Ginny will die DDx *brick'd*
Voldemort has to die, or the whole point of all the books would be.. wasted. Imagine that. " The moral of this story is; quit while you're ahead! =DD"
Hermione and Ron have definitely got to live. I think Harry would be ruined for good, or maybe even go a bit crazy with grief, if one of them died. I think with Lily, James, Cedric, Sirius, and now Dumbledore dead thanks to Voldy, killing off Hermione or Ron would be nothing short of cruel. But then, J.K. did say this is pure evil we're talking about. =/

If Ron or Hermione die.... ;0; *wibble*
I'm kinda hopin' Ginny will die too... <___< Her new Mary Sue older version is just... BLAH.
Anyways, YES, Voldemort HAS to die... if he doesn't, I'm gonna... I'm gonna... >____<
Moving on.
Am I the only one who found the title a bit... disappointing? o.o It doesn't seem... Harry Potterish to me. Then again, I'm weird. 3X

Why eight or ten? There are seven years at Hogwarts.
And I think that either Harry will die, or Voldy and Harry will both die. Rowling doesn't go with the usual stuff. So she wouldn't go with good guys win, bad guys lose.

That brings up the question: seven books for seven years of Hogwarts, or seven books because Harry doesn't live any longer than that?
Well, Voldemort will die, regardless of who else does. As I said before, there's no point in writing a book about Harry's grand failure, unless he sacrifices himself to weaken Voldemort to a mortal level, but I can't see that happening. Trelawney predicted 'either must die at the hand of the other', which isn't completely clear.
Harry is the only one who can defeat Voldy, which is established many times in earlier books. Maybe Ginny will complete her parallel to Lily and die for him? Maybe Ron or Hermione will die. I think Harry will win, but only after some sort of incredible loss. It's not like he hasn't suffered, but one more blow to tip the scale, maybe.
And just for the sake of contradiction, as much as I respect her, J.K. follows plenty of stereotypes xD;; I saw all of the relationships coming from outer space :x

Part of me is looking forward to it, but I'd probably have to spend days locked in my room with the internet disconnected for me to enjoy it without the entire world spoiling the ending just to spite the fans.

I do hope Harry dies though. I hate him so very much. I'm more on ol' Voldie's side.

Well Rowling wont tell us anything about the death of Harry. Im banking that Harry will win at the end of the book. But who knows when or how it happenes.

Seven books for the seven years at Hogwarts. < <; Wasn't that established by Rowling a long time ago? xDD
Anyway, somehow my mom got ahold of this information a week ago. I swear she surfs the net more then I do. o o;; But, I say that Ginny is going to die for sure. At least ONE of the -many- HP characters is going to die. (Not going to name any, because otherwise, I'd have a pile-up of wildly angry fangirls on me)
Considering...I don't really like the cast that remains, save for Lupin. xDD And yet I'm a freakish HP fan. Irony!
Wormtail must die. No arguments.

That's not so surprising. Every character is hated by someone xDD;; But Voldy's so going to die. Live with it. D< *brick'd* I'm kidding.
For me, I have this eeny weeny little voice inside me that's hoping Lupin will die. Don't get me wrong, I ADORE HIM. But Miss Rowling's set him up with a questionable fate whether he lives or dies. And personally, I don't want to see him married off to Tonks. Immature it may sound.. but..
She's not right for him. xP I didn't find the whole Tonks/Lupin thing sweet. Not even the slightest. It was out of character and a little bit random.
How selfish of me.. Wanting Lupin to die rather than get married >.> Oh well. *brick'd again*
EDIT: Eep, I didn't see your post Bijou.

I think I remember an interview with J.K. where she spoke about writing more than seven books, and said "If Harry lives that long". It was that that made me confused. As well as in HBP, when they talked about shutting down Hogwarts. If Harry is going to battle Voldemort, he'll have to focus on other things than school. *shrugs*
Agreed. Wormtail needs to die badly. I always despised him for the sole reason that he betrayed Lily and James, but as the books go on, he just becomes worse and worse. I think I decided he was unredeemable when he killed Cedric. >0 *slaps him*
And Draco? Hrmm.. I'm still confused about him. In HBP he showed a lot more human feeling than I would've expected from him, and I think I can safely say he wouldn't have killed Dumbledore. I think my favorite thing about the HP books is how everything unravels as the books go along.
Except for TonksLupin. *still bitter*

I don't honestly think Rowling will kill off both Harry and Voldemort. Hell...I don't think she'll kill either of them. There is still much money to be made off of the series, even if the original seven books are at their end. So why would Rowling kill Harry or Voldemort, when she could create a branch off of the series and make $$ ? And as Chuu pointed out, she has made comments hinting that there will be more than the original seven books in which Harry attends Hogwarts. I'm sure it will be no different than LOTR or Star Wars. Sure...there is the original series, but there were so many other branch-off books to accompany it.
I'm sure Rowling will not disappoint with this book, however things end up turning out. If it's anything like the last book, I will be extremely pleased. XD

Darth Vader still died at the end of Return of the Jedi though.
Even if Harry and Voldemort both die, she could still add to the series with the remaining cast members, or with a new cast. However I doubt she will, since she apparently wants to get started on a new project after Book 7.
