Well as i havent played pokemon in a few years im not too sure as far as this team goes, but after reading some posts here and at other places i think ive composed a pretty decent team. This will mainly be just for fighting my friends so it doesnt have to be perfect. I apprecciate any help and im sorry that i didnt put any items, but to be honest i really have no idea what to put as i cant really remmember what most items do. Im also a bit unsure as far as evs go. If you could suggest some items as well as changes which should be made ill be very appreciative. Thanks a lot.

I'll explain what's wrong with the team when you help me understand if this is actually a GSC team, or an Advanced Generation team using only pokemon that were obtainable during GSC.

No it will be an actual gsc team

GSC teams DO NOT have traits.

In that case, I'd like to first make sure you know that in GSC, there were no natures, traits, or EVs. The only thing you have to worry about are DVs, which you have no direct control over[/b]

Well here it is:

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers

- Haze
- Ice Beam
- Reflect
- Surf

Vappy has no reason to use Shadow Ball. You can also use Growth or Curse along with Baton Pass

Mew @ Leftovers

- Explosion
- Psychic
- Surf
- Soft Boiled

Meh, IMO, you can slap anything on mew and make a good set, but to exploit the fact that it's hard to guard against physical attacks in GSC, you might want to try a Swords Dance set.

Mewtwo @ Leftovers

- Fire Punch
- Psychic
- Recover
- Thunderbolt

Same comment as Mew, only Curse is an option over Swords Dance. Mewtwo gets Flamethrower iirc.

Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers

- Body Slam
- Curse
- Earthquake
- Rest

K.

Ho-oh @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
- Flamethrower / Sacred Fire
- Recover
- Earthquake
- Thunderbolt

Another uber. Same comment as Mewtwo. Don't neglect Ho-Oh's great Atk stat, and feel free to try Shadow Ball somewhere.

Arcanine (M) @ (No Item)
Trait: Intimidate
- Extremespeed
- Flamethrower
- Roar
- Toxic

I can't say I use this at all, but I can defeinitely say that Roar isn't that great of an option. If anything I would use Curse + Extremespeed and HP Fighting.

As far as GSC teams go on NB, this might be shunned for having 3 ubers, but then again, i don't know the standard rules for using GSC teams with ubers. I would say you have problems taking physical hits, but with 3 ubers on the team, it's pretty hard for physical sweepers (save snorlax) to switch in.

edit: If you're in GSC mode in the team Builder, you can still Export to Text and get a GSC format of your team.

Thanks alot for that help, like i said im gonna be fighting friends who are gonna be using ubers too, gonna be using link cable fighting not nb.
A friend has this plan in mind that i think should be pretty easy to counter, hes gonna use a poliwrath with quickclaw, use suresight? or whichever move it is that ensures the next attack will hit, and use fissure. I was thinking of the arcanine with quickclaw and the extreme speed should make quick work of that plan, any better ideas?

Yeah. When your friend uses that crappy two-turn combo, switch out to a different Poke (preferably Ho-oh), and then laugh at him for using such a stupid combo.

I would make fun of your friend at the moment, but he's not signed up on any forum i frequent, so it wouldn't be very fullfilling.

HP Fighting means a Fighting Type Hidden Power. It's suggested for NB use, but since it comes out random in-game, don't worry about it.

why submission? Isnt it only 80 power, 80% accuracy and it hurts the user? Whereas body slam is 85 power, 100% accuracy and causes enemy para? Or does it come out different in the game.

Because without it you cant hurt Golem, Rhydon, or Steelix.

o ok. So do you think i should maybe only put it on one of them? and body slam on the other? or put it on both.

Personally I'd have it on both. Although personally, I wouldn't have them both on the same team.

k well which would u switch out, for who, and why

You wouldn't want me to answer that, as it would result in me changing the whole team. What you have right now is fine, just keep Submission in mind.

k well based on what im using this team for, what would u rate it out of 5

O btw im kinda lost on this, im trying to figure out when arcanine learns flamethrower... on the nb it says he does learn it, but on psypoke i cant seem to find out when. Could you help me out?

You might try a TM that teaches it Flamethrower, as only Growlithe learns Flamethrower by level up.

t0shiba
January 6th, 2007, 05:44 AM
well can i get a growlith in gold?

shanecdavis
January 6th, 2007, 08:15 AM
Man, you are really forcing me to root through the archives, aren't you? I haven't looked at this stuff in YEARS!

Anyways, Growlithe can be found in Gold. Route 7, 36, and 37. My list says "and others", so it must mean that I got lazy and figured three routes were good enough for me. LOL

I would also take out Mew for my Machamp suggestion, because it is just too sexy not to have on your team. You probably won't have to use any other Poke in a battle.

Crimson Arcanine

Only Growlithe learns Flamethrower, at lvl 50. This should also be the lvl to evolve it as it will learn Extremespeed straight after Evolution. The only possible way for Arcanine to learn Flamethroweris on Crystal via the Move Tutor in Goldenrod City. And if i'm correct he only appears on certin days (Wednesday and Sunday i think but don't hold me to that.) and requires a lot of coins to do so

You might try a TM that teaches it Flamethrower, as only Growlithe learns Flamethrower by level up.

There was no TM for Flamethrower in the G/S/C generation.

Hope that helps! :t059:

are you being serious about the machamp thing? And if you are, why not flamethrower instead of fireblast?

t0shiba
January 6th, 2007, 03:41 PM
o i was also wondering, would this setup work well for me for vaporeon

Haze
Curse
Baton Pass
Substitute/surf

Synchronize

I meant to say Flamethrower is learned by move tutor in Crystal.

That vaporeon doesnt work as you have HAze, whic messes up your curses. Use Curse/Baton Pass/Surf/Ice Beam or Rest as a full set.

t0shiba
January 6th, 2007, 05:24 PM
could i do without a hazer then if i was to use that strategy on vap? And how do you feel about taking out mew for that machamp suggested earlier synch?
