I have a few questions about a video that is one youtube. Since I cant put a link in my reply, just go to youtube.com and write in the search box squirtle event and click on the first video that appears

1. How can I make a script like the mysterious voice script that appears in the video??
2. How can I make items like the Squirtle card???


And I have another question that is not about the video:

1. I can't put scripts in my hack. I followed the steps of Irish witch's tutorial, but when I open bufrite the program frozes!!! :(

1. Hex editor.
2. I think sappy casn do that but I know nothing about it.
3. Either re-script the event or try and hex edit the movements(I think that's possible)

I prefer to use a hex-editor but I guess you could try a-text.

Helo, I've got a problem with tiles from WAH:How could I add them with advance map (I can't do it with unlz), can someone post tileset for a-map with this tree good added?

You can do it with unLZ GBA!
Open unLZ GBA
Load your Ruby
Go to the Main Tileset (i dont have a english Ruby to say you the number, but in my German Rom is it by 1606)
Then Select "Use Black/White"
Save it.
Open it with Paint or something else.
Save the first attachment on your pc
Now you can copy and paste the tree into your tileset or import this directly.
Save.
Open unLZ GBA again and go to the Tileset, click on "use Black/White" and import it.
You have now the D/P Tree but you have a lot work now...
but if you are done with it may look like this (second and third attachment)

When changing palettes load the rom in APE.
Insert the offset you are editing, and change the colours.
If you want D/P Colours use the eyedropper tool in the gradie-o-matic.
I might put a rom base up in the resource thread.

Palette 0 - Trees.
Palette 2 - Floor tiles.
(I mean the offsets not the palette in a map editor)

Well I know another tool. N-E-A(Name Editor Advance). I think it's in scizz's tools section. If that still doesn't work, there is always A hex-editor.

Despite my best efforts, I'm having troubles with what should be a simple procedure.

How do I change one of the palettes in AdvanceMap's block editor, or add 1.
For Example: Palette 0 is Greenery.
How would I switch Palette 0's colors.

Do they have offsets which I can just simply put into APE and switch, because if they do, I cannot find them.

Well you're going to have to learn to use a hex-editor sooner or later, but I have a program for what you wanted to do, Pokemon Amplifier 3.2, You will probably have to edit the ini's so that it is in english but it's really simple to use. Again, you can find it in scizz's tools. It's under the name PA 2004

To change the palettes you'll either need a hex editor or APE.
Hex-Editors are used to get offsets though.
Firstly, make sure you've changed all your tiles before changing the palette.
Open your rom in APE and insert the offset by clicking the load button. Make sure Compressed LZ77 is clicked off.
You're palette should be there. Though the first 3 colours are from another palette. When changing the tree colours try making it match :P.

Some offsets are here:
Pallete0: EA1B60
Pallete2: EA1B80
Pallete3: EA1B90
Pallete4: EA1BEA
Fire Red/Leaf Green though
Pallete 0 should be the trees and palette 2 should be the grass.

To change the rest just enter the palette 0 and click the > Arrow.
It will automatically go to the next palette.
Stop at the one with the goldish/brownish colours. After that one is should be black and purple, don't change those ones.

When i use pet to edit the trainers pokemon most of the time if i give the first trainer 2 pokemon and the second trainer 1 pokemon most of the time the second trainers first pokemon is the first trainers second pokemon. if sombody can help with this it would be very good.

I don't understand what you said, but if you're talking about having one trainer and then another trainer, you just need to edit the trainers pokemon and save them. If it's a double battle it doesn't really matter does it?

Try asknig this in the script discussion thread next time. It's different for FR/LG and R/S and emerald. I'll list them below. You can find other flags in the flags tutorial.

i have 2 trainers. 1 after the other. i give the first trainer 2 level 6 bellsprout. when i try to give the second trainer a level 5 magikarp it changes the first trainers second pokemon to a level five magikarp. and when i change it back to bellsprout it gives my second trainer a bellsprout. this happens iall over the place and is really annoying.

i hope you can understand this.

I understand you, I had the same problem. Just open your rom in any hexeditor (I use XVI32), search for free space (a lot of FF bytes, like here: http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5582/scrrnb6.png ). When you find it, write new address in P.E.T. (pokemon offset) and save.

Well, I'm not sure if there is any program that will do this but you can script the pokemart event. What I mean is you can write a script for the pokemart salesman. That way you could put whatever items you want.

Shure its easy with APE but i dont I think as only pressing funny buttons are noobish...
Open Your Hack with VBA go to a place where your tiles are.
Than use the "Palette Viewer", you find it in "Extras"
Pick your Palette and klick on the first color and switch the bytes and write it down (example: ABCD = CDAB).
You must do this with alle colors of the palette.
Now open your Rom with a Hex Editor and Search your palette(sometimes there are more than 1 match).
Now you can use APE to get your colors in GBA.APE switch the byts automatic that means you dont have to do it yourself.
When you are done save.
Now Open your Rom again with VBA and look if the palette is now right.

1.Your Tileset is to big (to much kb), use the unLZ GBA way, because its a very safey way and when you click on "Write to Rom"
Type a new free offset in the image offset box (that takes a few offsets that means dont try to put a tileset between other stuff
when im knowing right the repointing takes 180 offsets or so...)

2.Its possible that APE or your Hex Editor finds more than 1 match, make a back up and try each match, when you found the right match write the offset down!

3.Uh dont know but vista sucks (in my eyes ^^)

4.Import or Replace?

6.Use the Amplifier 06 Ae.

It could be the Reason that your rayquaza is to big (from the file size)
And the Battle Sprites in FR/LG are uncompressed, that means you have to search it with TileMolester/TLP or a other tileviewer.

Okay, I replaced the Brock sprite, when your IN a battle with him, with Metal Sonic(For Hackemon XD, which is also a hack). But when I open up the firered rom in pet to change Metal Sonic's pokemon, which will be steel, it says it's unsupported, and I need to download pokeroms.ini, and the link they gave me is no good. HELP ME! I NEED THE FOURTH EPISODE UP BY WENESDAY!

1. Just do what I did. Go to insert map, create and insert, it will ask you how many new maps, and what bank. By the way, let's say you do this while your on pallet town map. If you change the name on the new one, it'll change on the old one to, so I suggest makeing all the maps names into "Read the Sign!" So the player will read the sign on where they are. Use pokescript to make a new sign script.

Yes, but only in ruby using poképic and iconed. To change the name, use pokéTronic.

However, if you catch the ?? edited pokémon, the game will freeze, I think.

2) Is it safe to edit the 20-ish ???s in-between Celebi and Treecko? I imagine that they freeze the game and such, but I was just wondering if it was safe [seeing as there is a hack that utilizes these spots with D/P Pokemon].

No, they won't destroy your game. They are only placeholders, nothing else. They behave like 'normal' pokemon, so no worries.

Arghhhhh this annoys me so make when i'm making my rom, using Fire Red by the way!! When I edit a map with Trainers or sometimes just normal people that talk I play the game and after a battle, wild battle, goin into pokedex or pokemon party i turn into that person and can only move a couple of steps and its glitchy, the only way to fix it is if i delete all the people on the map, but if i do that there will never be any trainers :( Can someone please help?

I don't think it could be a problem with the map. Try checking your connections and everything else around the map, including the border. This might happen if you've used cheats. I asked this question about 6 months ago it never got answered but a copuple of members said they had the same problem. Nah i didnt edit the scirpt becoz i'm not a very good scripter so i just leave the scripts alone lol. Yeh i think it has sumthin 2 do with the trainers it happens more if i change the mini spirit of the person, or when i move them. Nah i dont use cheats..

It's either your rom is corrupt or your AdvanceMap is. Try reinstall AdvanceMap or get a new one, if nothing works it could be your rom. I'm pretty sure somethings up with AdvanceMap.

When I try and enter one map (in the south) from my map in the north, the game will stop for a second while on nmap about 2 tiles from smap and then the game will freeze (sound and all) about 1 tile from smap. When I try view maps on amap after this for about 5-10 minutes I get the above mentioned error.

I need help with something that may be simple but I want to know how to change what HM's need certain badges to be able to use them outside battle.

For example the first Gym you get the BOULDERBADGE which allows you to use HM05 FLASH outside battle so how do you change it so when you get the BOULDERBADGE instead you can use HM01 CUT outside battle!

I've had this problem, just re-install AM and it should be fine...

That didn't work... I decided to make a cave inbetween the two places instead. Only problem is my warp doesn't work...

And now that I've changed my walldoors to ladders it works fine..not. Whenever I try to use the second ladder the screen stays white and doesn't load the route you're supposed to be taken to... What's going on!!!???

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, I didn't realise! My problem seems to have gone away but I'm still confused over why it occured in the first place...

I'm not an expert on this but I think you need to use a Hex editor for that. I think you need to look up the badge and find which HM it enables.

You need to use unLZ.gba. You can find it in the Elitemap Package. Look in the Tool Box Section for a link!

lol, don't worry about it. It seems really hard just trying do draw really accurately with paint, and to make matters worse, garchomp may be one of the hardest to draw on paint. Seriously, I could use a few pointers on how to draw good on paint.

EDIT:Actually, I may try to rip off a Garchomp sprite from mystery dungeon 2. So far however, I haven't seen a complete sprite list of all the pokemon from MD2 yet.

Lately when I open AdvanceText, it comes up with the following message:


I've redownloaded about 6 times now... any suggestions?

I've got a weird problem that I don't know how to fix. I made it so that you warp to inside the house of route 2 and then you can walk foreward and get into the first route. But when I test it out to get to the first route, the game just stops. The music still plays but it's all black and I can't move. What should I do?

FireRed/LeafGreen: Using unLZ would be the answer, though it can corrupt your game.
Ruby/Saphire: PET would be the best solution, though it would involve palette editting, alot of it.
Emerald: unLZ, though Emerald is very unstable.

If your talking about GB/GBC games, I don't really know, it's hard to find tools for those games.

I want to change the text of the trainer battle interface.

Well what I'm talking about is that I want to change the text from:

to:

Is there any way to do this? I've seen this done but I have no idea how to do it.

Please don't say A-text because I've looked around for that dialog and found nothing.

Here's one, can you add more flight spots without deleting any others!

Since the game is programmed for a certain number of flight positions, I guess that ASM hacking is needed to expand the limit.

Just use an hex editor which supports table files. Thingy32 or Translhextion are just a few examples.

What will work 100% is to erase the animation, but thats not good xP

Oh i found something realy intressting, give your tile in AM

The easiest way would be using a backup. Otherwhise you can simply overwrite the old map with a new one.

I don't mean overwrite it, I mean delete it from the place. Make it disappear.

I created a house on route 1...the warp to go into the house works..but the warp to go out doesnt. it takes me to the border of route 2, where my player gets stuck beetween the trees...does the warp leading out the house have to say everything the warp leading inside does?

Uhm, I'm sure it'll work in Ruby, but it doesn't work on FR :S
I tested it on the red flower tile, but it did rather nothing. When I gave it "20"... nothing... And that's The wild grass animation in FR IMO...

Hmm a bit of help with this.
First, i want to know what the cry of Deoxys is in script..

next is setweather script. When i compile it with ScriptEd, and then play, when the script happens, the weather dont change.

The Offsets mustve been wrong, i was in 256 colour mode...but, i did manage to change the title on ruby. So, Whats the offset for the FireRed Version Logo, and wat pallete?
i went 100 under, 100 over, an still didnt find it :(

Here's a question about Advance Map!

On the Wild Pokémon View Tab when you look at fishing option at the top of the list you need the OLD ROD the middle of the list you need GOOD ROD and at the bottom of the list you need the SUPER ROD!

or is it based on the Pokémon your fishing for!

On your VBA go to "file" and on the drop down list it should say "screen capture".

In AdvanceMap, go to the bank you want to duplicate, if it's indoor or outside. There should be a button saying newmap. Click it and enter how many maps you wish to insert.

I wanna put in Pichu Bros. as a wild pokemon, and obviously i need to know how to add their sprite and name to the game. I know how to edit evolution and attacks and stats so thats not a problem. Please help :)

there are tutorials for both... it would take a bit explaining it there. for the trainers, u could use the program PET

Thankyoo, thats very helpful :) Only problem is, that Dexter programme keeps telling me theres an error and closes everything.
Another question is, can i change the sprite of my trainer (who you play as) and is there an archieve somewhere to find pre-made sprites because i dont know how to do it myself.

I'd doubt that you're over the limit. I'm pretty sure that, as long as there is free space in the rom, there is enough space for a script.

Try using a hex editor. Programs won't include everything, a hex editor will.

Without Size enlargment you have free offsets until $FFFFF0

Are you sure you extracted all the needed files for the Overworld Editor? And what ROM are you trying to edit? Also, which version of the Overworld Editor are you using?

Without specifying the things above it's almost impossible to help you.

Well, I've never attempted Pokemon rom hacking before. So keep that in mind while answering my question.

So how hard it it, for a person that has never ROM hacked, to replace the sprites, stats, names, types*, ect. of a Pokemon? And what would be the easiest way (if any) of doing it? I don't want to change the story or anything, just the Pokemon.

*when I say types, I don't mean adding news ones or anything. I just mean changing the type of the Pokemon from say, Water to Fire, or something similar.

A-Text or any hex editor with .tlb support. That is for the description.
For the weight etc. you could use Dexter.
Keep in mind that Dexter doesn't support very good (I would say at all) any FR/LG ROMs due to few differences in the Pokédex structure.

Save the Pokémon (or another pic) you want to replace, and import yours.
BUT: It has to be as big or smaller than the original one (you CAN make it bigger, but it´s better not to.)

AND: always press "write to ROM" (to save it)

Okay I recently inserted a new tile in my game.

Its a tree tile btw.

Well instead of it overlapping the player , the player overlaps it

How is this fixed?

I have just started mapping and I use Advnace map. In attachment is the map I have created and A screeny of it in VBA. The place where it shows the player standing near a tree should be having a sea instead. So any way to solve it???

Change the border block to water. The border block option is above the tiles.


@ JoyRide: Check the Movement Permissions View tab on AdvanceMap. There will be a whole bunch of 1's and C's. 1 means you can't walk over it, and C means you can. Change it by tapping on the numbers on the collum.

@ Quilavas Master: Check the Documents and Tutorial Forum.

I can walk over it. But its the top of the tree so I should still be able to walk threw it just its over me.

Hmm this is a quick one, well in my script of giving a pokemon, i put TWO locks in there, because in the middle of the script the person went walk-abouts, so i locked it again after you get the pokemon. Is this alright? cause i think it might be causing problems with my hack cause...

i'm looking 4 a pokéscript-command/script/ASM-dunno-what to make different choices and do different events depending on the choice. anybody can help? (some kind of boxset? if possible, then just an "If LASTRESULT..." can do the 2nd part of the script... like the yes/no boxset 5, but with "A","B","C"... as choices)

I'm pretty sure you gotta go to pallete # and look through them...some sprites can only have a certain # of palletes.

What rom are you using? Remember Leaf Green doesnt work with RS Ball..

Okay I can honestly say I'm not sure wht you're talking about but here's what i gathered You removed Dragonite from the game and replaced it with Pichu Bros, now you want the name to be Pichu Bros instead of Dragonite?
to change it's name and POkedex Entry use this:

1st. Download Amplifier 2006 AE i think it's in the toolbox.

2nd. Go to Name Changer and rewrite Dragonites name as Pichu Bros.

3rd. Make sure you have A Text (I'm positive you can get it at Whack A Hack;)) Type in Dragonites Pokedex description in the search box. Then click Save to INI.

Finally. Rewrite the description the way you want it.

Amplifier Ae is the best as it can change more things the Amplifier 2004 also the fact that it works with Fire Red is a big PLus.

to change it's Icon use IconEd also found at WAH

The names should be in english...thats considering when you installed it they gave you the choice of English over German and you clicked English. Just double click the POkemon's name and there should be a little space in the center rewrite the name in hit Enter

yay thankyou it works. i have one more question. this iconed i have now, i need to change the icon for tropius into the icon for pichu. is there a way to just copy the image of pichu or do i have to rub out tropius' design and draw pichu bit by bit?

No prob.:) about Iconed i never used it before but i'll try it later and i tell you how it goes but there should be a way to do it without drawing out Pichu bit by bit

Well, you need to do all of that first, because who have to shiny some parts of the ROM with the hex editor and then instead of writing the script in hex you can use a script like this. But if you don't do the other stuff first this script will either, not work at all or give you a normal Charmander.
