how do I change all the sprites (like the overworld, Backsprites, Trainer, ect)?
I already answered this. Use unLZ to find the sprites, then edit them with Tile Molester or TLP. As for the overworlds, use Overworld Editor RE.
Reposting my questions since I didn't get much (useful) help last time. :/
For the boulders in Clairs gym, I don't think they're Overworlds. I don't hack gold, but you should be able to change the movement permissions if they're tiles.

Yeah, the Birch intro. Where he introduces the Pokemon world.
1. You can download them here at .
And for that you need Pkmnadv .
2. You can use unLZ to export then edit, then import any trainers sprite. Then you can use PET to edit which sprite you want for which battle. For Sapphire start searching at 1290+. You can edit the Overworlds with Hackmew's Overworldeditor RE.
3. Same as 2, but the main character is located at 1294-1295 (unLZ).
4. Spenceroone3 has a pretty thorough tutorial on Pokescript.

[On question 3] I can't seem to find the overworld sprites of any characters. I may simply be overlooking them....would somebody happen to know the area in which I could find them?

Pkay, I am having a map overlapping problem. Some maps overlap themselves and others overlap others. Now, this only recently started happening (Which is right after I just inserted the new tileset). I have already tried reinserting the map and redoing the connections, and none of them have worked.

Ok i got a probolem I was using scripted and i edited the scrript on birches wife and I needed to re-point it and I said yes but the this message popped up

Okay, I've searched for a couple hours and sorry if I'm stupid, but I still can't find my answers. I've downloaded VirtualBoyAdvance and I can't seem to play ANY games on it. I've tried extracting them and everything, but it still won't work. I use Windows Vista and I really want to play these games!

Is it possible to make pokedex numbers beyond their normal limit?
For example, can I make 203, 204, 205 etc. on Pokemon Sapphire's Hoenn dex?
If so, please provide a list of tools I'll need.

As you will notice, I have a .gba (GameBoy Advance) ROM.
Ok, there are atleast three different ways of loading the ROM.
[Method 1]
Drag and drop the ROM file onto the VBA icon, like so:

Open VBA, then select File > Open (ctrl+o), then find the ROM to open, like so:

I think you need to redo the maps so that the tiles are right

I think it's probably found in the level script. I only know a little bit about level scripts, but probably not enough to figure out how to fix that problem. I'll still try and I'll let you know if I can fiond anything.

What's the problem? You haven't said what the problem is.
You've just said, "with totodile and it's rival, and Torchic and it's rival." It doesn't make any sense. Think about what you're trying to say and then post again.
Sorry, I didn't know I sounded like that what I meant is that, when you pick lets say a totodile Oak says, "Ah so you want Squirtle?" and it would probably be the same with torchic (he would call it Charmander I assume). Does that make sense? After he says that he refers to it as Totodile.
I am currently making a rom hack of firered and I can make maps and stuff, but I need help with like game scripts and sprites etc. Sorry for bringing up this frequently used request.

That's not the problem, Celebi. The tiles are all arranged correctly. If I had that problem, it would take no time to fix, and I wouldn't be here.

Uhm I think I can help you with the problem download A-Text or if you already have it open it then go to open rom then when the rom is opend you see a list in that list Oak's LAB click it and then another list will come in that list it if you scroll a little you can see bulbasaur and squirtle etc in capital letters and click those and then you can edit it in the little textbox and then click save text and if it says something just click okay and then it is changed..:)

You can't use unLZ to find overworlds. You should use Hackmew's OW Editor RE.

I was reading the Rubikon Tutorial that came with EliteMap and I came across what they call "Diamond Cutter".
Start Diamond Cutter, select your ROM from the dropdown list and doubleclick HelloWorld.RBC in the script list. Now we'll cover how to assign this code to a object in the game.

Reposting my questions since I didn't get much (useful) help last time. :/
A bit late, but no-one answered you yet. This is more suited to the scripting thread isn't it.
You'll need to set the flag to make them dissapear and then you can clear the flag to make them re-appear.
Alternatively there is also a #raw command that can make the person re-appear temporarily if they have already disappeared.
#raw 0x55 0x<people no(hex)> 0x00 will make the selected person re-appear temporarily.

Could be because of You replacing Tiles on the tileset that have those specific tiles.(eg. I replaced the Grass tile with a roof and all the grass tiles became Roofs/Rooves whatever)

Save them as PNG. Go to "Save map as", then type in the name with the extension .PNG

I see your problem already. You have 2 extensions. You have ".PNG" and ".Map" at the same time. You need to remove ".Map" so that it looks like this "ROUTE 103.PNG"

Forgive me... But I know not of any tool that has the same function as Unlz-GBA... I guess you'll have to strive just to make it work. It's a very useful tool, btw, and so new hackers may find hacking difficult without this tool.
(if they plan to change PKMN images, and tilesets...)

I know.., but.., if you open Ruby, the PKMNs are around 560.., I think... And in FireRed, the PKMNs are around 1000 (not sure about FireRed)... For TRAINERs, 1300 in Ruby... I don't know about FireRed...

You have got to use unLZ gba, its the best tool out there unless you want to use Pokepic which can also change the pokemon sprites, If you want to import new pokemon sprites, click on the import button and import your indexed sprite or you can use the save as button and save it somwhere and edit it with paint, and then import it back into the rom.

Alright Poke-Roy, I was going to quote you but it wouldn't let me. Anyways, when I open up my firered rom in adavnce-text in the list it says Nameoffset and dataoffset.
EDIT: It may have something to do with a later version. When I do live update it says there is one available, but when I click download it says "Update failed". Is there somewhere I can get this "later version"?

Well poke-roy, the are more than one palette per tileset so Why don't you search again, and keep replacing palettes until it can't be found anymore.

hey guys :) i have a question
i have a gameboy emulator on my cell phone the sony ericsson k790. It can run red, blue and yellow almost perfectly. I put crystal on and i guess the phone cannot run the rom that well, it takes years to load things, probably cuz their is so many different colours. So i was wondering if there was a way to change crystal to having less colours? :S i dont know if im asking the right question but i think that if it is more like pokemon red/blue etc, then it will run smoother. Any ideas how this can be done?? thx

oh i just realized that the main lagging comes from the pokemon battles...So....if that helps at all lol

Before you tell me to go read an FAQ or something let me just say that I did my homework. I looked in all the FAQs, I ran searches, I did everything. Trust me, I've been "the noob" too many times over the years not to.
With that out of the way: how exactly do I apply patches?
I want to play ShinyGold. I downloaded the patch, and I have a FireRed rom. I renamed the files to be the same. Where do I go from there?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a program called LIPS involved, right? Where do I download it?
Or am I just completely off base here? Any help would be appreciated.

LIPS is involve in patching a 'patched' file onto a ROM.
Simply go to www.studiopokemon.com/wah to get the tool called 'LIPS' or 'Lunar IPS'...
However, it is in Spanish, but there's an English button.

Hmm. Well that's strange. Using Hackmew's overworld editor on Pokemon Sapphire, I edited Stephen to be a AlttP version of Link. The first time I saw his sprite (facing forward) it was normal. The second time I saw the sprite (again, facing forward) all the colors were inverted. Should I be concerned about this or have to restart editing?

Err Well either you are using the wrong border tiles, or the other map(s)
connected to it are using diff tilesets. Happened to me before ;P.

Ok I got a question.
When I save my map then try to load it into paint it does not show up.
I go to File-Map-Save Map As-Sample Pictures.
Then I go into Paint and go to File-Open-Sample Pictures and the map I just saved is not there.

The map files use a file type that does not work with Paint, you need to go Tools > Save Map picture in A-Map instead. You have to change maps using the Map editor and the tiles can also be changed using the map editor.

You have redirected new pointers, so the map editor will read from the offset that was specified.

I think GoldMap can do that sometimes, you can try using hex. If that doesn't work maybe there are specified sprites allowed in a certain area.

You have to use a different color that is similar to Black, But it isn't. You can use navy blue(Real Dark) or a Really Dark Brown. Or you can use the black that is above his teeth and paste it onto the other black spots, with Paintbucket.

Yes u can trade if the 2nd level of pkmn center is accessible in the said hack.... however
if the dex has been changed like where one pkmn is or if one was removed, then bad eggs could show up....
i use both save types, but for the reg mke shure to change it to the 128 flash 1st

Yes, I think you're missing some files. Below you can find a complete list of the Cyclone's needed files:
COMDLG32.OCX
MSCOMCTL.OCX
MSVBVM60.DLL
FM20.DLL
olepro32.dll
Anyway I guess that the error is caused by the FM20.DLL which should be absent or not correctly registered in your computer.
Before trying anything else, download this file and run it. It's a self-extracting archive which will install the FM20.DLL in your computer. After installed try to open Cyclone again. If you're still getting errors, try to reboot and see if something changes. If not, maybe you need to unregister and then register again all the Cyclone's needed files.

Try iAmp_2006-Ae_1.2.0.0.zip it should contain nearly everything to edit the rom, including those abilitys.

Okay, I am having a map overlapping problem. Some maps overlap themselves and others overlap others. Now, this only recently started happening (Which is right after I just inserted the new tileset). I have already tried reinserting the map and redoing the connections, and none of them have worked.

You have to use the palettes specified, adding outside palettes will not work, unless you palette change them.

I think I can help you with that...
If you make a little movie on VBA you go to tools record start AVI recording (but you know that I think) then you save it and then a little screen pops up..from that screen you can choose many things click the one almost at the top(because of that the quality gets worse but you can rcord longer and the format is much smaller! and so you can upload it on youtube...to upload on youtube make an account and then go to upload video and choose your movie and upload et voila a video on youtube..:)

I tend to upload them into a Movie creator such as Windows Movie Maker, then export it from that.

Most likely it appears to be no. 2, you can copy and paste your rom to a new location in your folders then start a new save state.

Every time I load up the rom I get these wierd, out of color tiles for random things in the game and I tried sorting through them but I either never found the pokemon sprites or I couldn't tell them apart from all the other disfigured objects.

The Pokemon begin at 668 in FR(sorry bout the 100+ thing before xD). The palettes of the Pokemon should display the right palettes.

I've stumbled upon a problem again. The moving codes for Gold are:
Moving scripts:
00 = Turn head
04 = ½ step
08 = slow step
0C = step
10 = 1½ step
14 = slow slide 1 step
18 = slide 1 step
1C = fast slide 1 step
20 = Turn 1 step (Face opposite of HIRO)
24 = Turn 1 step (Facing HIRO)
28 = 1 step in waterfall mode (facing changes between down and right)
2C = slow jump over 1 step
30 = jump over 1 step
34 = fast jump over 1 step
3A = remove fixed facing
3B = fix facing
3D = hide person
45 = make move before command faster
46 = Wait for time (xx as time)
47 = End of moving script
49 = hide person

Does anyone have or know of any tools that allow you to give trainer's more pokemon as im not sure which ones do (i have looked in the Toolbox and there is nothing there that says it can edit trainers Pokemon).

Well you can use a hex editor to add more trainers in using alot of pointers etc.

i dont want to add more trainers im just making a harder version of FireRed where all the gym leaders have 6 pokemon and they are stronger and the other trainers you battle also have more pokemon and are stronger, and Johto and Hoenn pokemon can be caught in it apart from that it's still going to be the same as FR

Sorry, I was meant to say you can add in more Pokemon using a hex editor, you might just need to repoint where the data is reading from.

Well it doesn't really matter, though you could try it on an old backup to see if it works any better, otherwise keep to the boxset 6.

in AdvanceMap, you know how theres those town name boxes that appear, does anyone have a list of what they are so I can change them in AdvanceMap?

Actually Crashink, that is not the problem and it is fixable.
Actually, even though this may seem bad, it is a relatively easy fix (Trust me. I have had this error occur with me in Harmony more times than you can count). First, the problem is that you exported the tileset in a palette that had less than 16 colors. What A-Map did was it replaced the missing colors with the lines that you saw to compensate for them. Now, to fix it, you are going to need a copy of the original tileset, in Palette 0. You will also need the broken tileset, also in Palette 0. With the original tileset, copy all of the tiles that have been ruined and paste them onto the ruined one. Then import, and it is fixed!

I have a question.
When I use PokéScript's Bufrite program to compile a script by doing:
I right click on the RBC file and click on compile script. It then takes em to a program selection screen, which from there, I have to find the right program, Bufrite. Well, when I select it from 'Browse', it just doesn't appear on the program list. So, I can't use it to compile the scripts.
Is that too confusing? If so, I'm currently uploading a video to YouTube demonstrating my problem.

Ok the Red Circle means that it will not let me warp...
I checked the connections and they are all fine but,
when I walk up to the warp it will not warp me...
The yellow cricle means that when I Warp out of the blue house...

to warp out of a cave, use the right tile for the job. I can't have an example as of now...
my question, what's wrong with my pokescript..?
whenever I right click an '.rbc' extension file, click 'Compile', it will compile for a couple of MILIseconds, and then stops and the compiler shows me a blank-white result. It failed to compile, and yet, I found no errors whatsoever in the script I made...

Blazikendude - Check your warps again. Go inside the house that's there and check the number of the warp, then go back to the outside and check that one's too. That happens if it can't find the correct warp.
And secondly, certain warps don't activate unless there's a script that allows them to. Like for the mountains, the warps that don't work, you put them infront of the entrance with a script tile that allows them to activate the warp. I just avoid them by making a ladder instead of a cave entrance.
Destinedjagold - Try another script to compile, and see if the same thing happens. It may just be the script.

The animation of a moving truck can't be removed, but you can simply remap the area. ;)

That wouldn't work blazichu. If it did, every hack would have done it. The truck animation is different to the earthquake animation.
(Plus 25 31 01, only appears once in the rom)
In a normal script, I don't think that the way that the truck animation activates is known.

Hmm...it is probably built into the rom, like the Birch speech part. It can probably be edited with ASM or it could be somewhere towards the start of hex, only if the offset was known.

FR/LG the X position is 06, Y position is 06 and R/S/E the X position is 02 and Y position is 01. Search for those values in a hex editor.

You could try and find the script in a hex editor, her script should be at $16575C, so do a byte reversal for that, which should be 5C5716(pointer).

Ive installed pokewitch scripting tool but it wont let me install the other part of the tool so i can compile the script.

This script is a real pain. It's hard to change unless you know stuff involving level scripts.
But here's the easy way to get rid of her. Make an earlier script somewhere in the house, that will...

and how do we make a script to like after you've done the pokemon league then the people will move from their spots and uhmm could someone send a list of advance map palletes? And you no the presa tools it doesnt have RS ball or PokePic

3. Search a bit back, I put a list of where the palettes are, if you want to know the colour of each one then just look over them.
4. RS Ball and Pokepic come with EliteMap after being installed.

You have to include the Bonus Programs when installing, then a new folder should appear wherever the destination was. Those programs should be in that folder.

Ive started to leanr to script but i have a problemo.
Ive installed pokewitch scripting tool but it wont let me install the other part of the tool so i can compile the script.
The install is a pls file.
How the hell can i do it?
Will no one come to my aid

I need some halp with Advance map (I'm messing with LG).
Okay, so I started by taking map 0 from bank 0 (it was some battle room for two players, nothing that would be used in a hack). I changed it's size (to 50x50). I took data of pokecenter before mount moon, and made warp in my map, then put that stuff here (bank, map and unknown values are same).
I opened the map with that Pokecenter, and edited warps so now they direct to bank 0 map 0.
I did exacly same thing with Pewter City gym.
and well, something got screwed up.
Whenever I quit pokecenter/gym in my map, I end up in exact middle of the map (x25,y25).
How can I change that, so when I quit Pokecenter I end up in front of Pokecenter, and when I quit gym, I end up in front of the gym ?

I found your problem.
In the pokemon Center, make the warp number 1, not 2.

I have not yet seen this asked or answered yet. i'm trying to play the Pokémon Prism hack on a clean Gold rom (.gbc) and I am having trouble getting it 2 work. I am a mac user. I kno with .ips files u just put them in the same folder w/ the same name as the rom but I tried that and it isn't working. also, I am using KiGB (1.5.6) because for some reason it's not working on VBA (1.7.1). anyone know what the problem/s is/are and how to fix it/them?

Okay, I haven't seen this particular question about warps.
I have a warp that's -supposed- to go in-and-out of a cave. The warp point on the Route works absolutely fine - it enters the cave. (Mind you, Brendan is facing the entrance, but that's not what I'm asking about.) But then, when I try to leave - even though I KNOW I have a stable warp point set up - the game acts like there's no warp! Basically, I walk into the cave and can't get out! Any pointers??

there are two different tiles in a cave; the normal tile and the exit tile...

Check you warp and see if it has Mark active Sprite ticked.

No... Try to look at the tiles closer. There are two tiles that match the floor of the cave. The other tile is for the warp. Just look closer.

Well, when I say 'exit tile', I mean the one that looks like the cave opening on the wall. What you're talking about is two separate kinds of 'FLOOR tiles'?

yes. don't put the warp on the exit, instead, put it on the other florr tile.

Also, the information from the warps - it's a route map, location 0.16, connecting to a cave map, 24.7 (they were originally Route 101, and the entrance level of Granite Cave)
The one on map 0.16 is:
Event # 0
Unknown 00
Warp # 0
Map 24
Bank 7
The one on map 24.7 is:
Event # 0
Unknown 03
Warp # 0
Map 0
Bank 16
Every other cave I examined, the Unknown data was 00 outside, and 03 inside. Is THAT right, at least?

That is not important... The important part is for you to use the right tile for the player to exit the cave. Using the wrong one, and you're trapped forever...

Make sure that block 281 isn't being used, instead use block 287 infront of the exit.
